My wife and I went in after work last evening to see if they had any of the deals in-store that were online. I was looking for a mountain bike for under $800 that had nicer drivetrain components like Shimano Deore or SRAM X5. Since I am shorter (and the rage is the 29er) I also needed a smaller framed bike. Online, there were plenty of options so I was hopeful of finding the right bike. The person "helping" us didnt want to sell us a bike. They had several medium and large bikes on the floor, but he never went to see if they had the small in stock, and when I asked about the components he looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. Needless to say we left there very disappointed. Well, I didnt learn my lesson and called back this morning thinking I just got a poor salesperson. Unfortunately that wasnt the case. I asked if they had 2 models in small (Fuji Nevada 1.3 and GT Karakoram 2.0) and the person on the phone said "I dont know what I have in stock, so if youre going to ask me about specific models Ill need a list and get back to you." REALLY?!?! You are sitting in front of the computer that has the inventory on it and you cant look it up?! Most bike shops I have visited know most of what they have in stock, if not all of it without even looking at the computer. If Performance doesnt know what they have in-stock or hold a competent conversation about the components and fit, Im not going to trust them with the assembly and service of my mountain bike and I dont think anyone else should either. Final Review: Dont waste your time...not even with the website. If you cant pass up the deal, then at least take your new bike immediately to a reliable shop to be tuned and inspected before riding it, and plan on using that shop for future tunes because there is no way I can recommend this Performance Bicycle shop for maintenance.

HORRIBLE service. First, they sold me the wrong size bike...majorly. When I went to get a new derailleur hanger, they told me it "doesnt exist", even though I got the bike from there, 1 YEAR AGO. I have had to make at least 10 phone calls back to them to check on the status of ordering the hanger and was put on hold every time for at least 5 minutes every time. They were very short with me everytime I went into the store or called, and cut me off. On my last call, the manager said there is only ONE MECHANIC in their BIKE SHOP. WHAT?! If youre going to specialize in BIKES and BIKES ONLY, you should probably make sure that everyone there is an expert at bikes and that you have plentiful people to work on them. Im sorry that I ever tried going there and that I cant give it 0 STARS. Definitely going to Princeton Sports from now on.

This store must be doing very well! Clearly they dont want any new business. My boyfriend and I were interested in getting mountain bikes. We know that we want good quality bikes but we dont know much else about bikes except how to ride them. Went into this store yesterday to get some info and pointed in the right direction to purchase. There were two employees at the front entrance. No one greeted us. Not even eye contact. We went over to the left where the bikes are stored hoping someone would at least come over to help. After we stood looking at the bikes for a good 15 minutes without even being acknowledged we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. I cant believe the horrible customer service.

Terrible customer service. Absolutely abysmal. The website for a bike Im looking for had this store listed as an approved sales site, so I called in to see if they had the bike in stock. Sam the sales rep was entirely rude and curt on the phone, and said hed "never heard of the bike in his life". When I asked if he might know where to find the bike Im looking for, his answer was "nope". No attempt at all to go even half way. Just from this phone call, I can tell all of the previous comments about in-store customer (lack of) service are all true. Take your business elsewhere and let this place die a quick death.

Great experience purchasing my first quality bike. The staff was courteous and patient with my questions. The techs are fast and the bike operates great. Cant wait for the weather to break so I can enjoy my purchase. You should absolutely try theses guys. 6-20-15 - Went in on a Saturday mid-morning with a flat. I had every intention and expectation I would need to leave the bike for a day or two for the repair and a tune-up. They took the bike and placed it on the rack immediately and had me going in about 20 minutes. Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Keep up the great work!

This is a good bike shop in columbia MD, good prices. The inventory is larger than most of the other local shops. They carry a good number of mid range priced equipment with some of the top end things as well. The staff have been considerate and I like the level of help they provide without being pushy. The mechanics have been knowledgeable and the prices for service on a high end bike are good as well. I use their website to find what I need then when in the area stop in and pick up what I need. Some good biking clothes as well here.

Performance Bicycle is a decent bike shop. Its become a sort of big-box retailer for bikes, which I definitely do not like. They carry mostly mainstream brands like Diamondback and Fuji, but do not cater to the cycling crowd that wants more specialized brands. Pricing here is definitely higher than other places but the lifetime guarantee and the free tune-ups help compensate. Though Ive gone here for 5 years now, I prefer going to smaller shops like Laurel Bicycle, Proteus, and College Park Bicycles.

Helpful staff, variety of bicycles. Theyre a chain store and they have some store-branded stuff, especially in tools. The store-branded stuff I have bought has worked fine. If you enjoy bicycling, a store like this is a fun place to visit. They regularly advertise sales telling how much they discount the bicycles, but they seem to be advertising their everyday prices, trying to give you a sense of urgency by leading you to believe that that this sale is a special opportunity.

I had to get some work done on my folding bike - minor stuff. The work was done well and was relatively cheap. I required lights and some other accessories and a sales associate helped me with each one of my purchases. in fact there were several sales associates that were floating around actively looking to help other folks too. I am not sure what all the bad press is about but PB was much more than adequate for my bicycle needs. I will definitely shop here again.

Purchased Ridley 7005 Fenix which turned out to be a costly mistake. Performance could never get the bike running correctly despite new frame ( warranty) and gearing issues. 105s Sold bike out of frustration as Performance could never get it right. Headed to Princeton where I should have gone in the first place. Jon mechanic was more than helpful after dispute with store manager over warranty. Have not been back since.
