The overall selection is great; although, "half-price books" can absolutely be a misnomer.. But Id like to discuss their purchasing. I brought in over 40 leather-bound, collectors edition books published by Easton Press; all written by notable figures of philosophy, science, mathematics, and policy (I.e. Newton, Aristotle, Plato, Einstein, Churchill). I was offered about $170 for 38 of them... I know that doesnt sound too bad, and it didnt even sound bad to me at first, but it is less than $5 for each LEATHER-BOUND COLLECTIBLE BOOK. My point being that these are not average hardcover novels. When we brought in 3 books of the same kind the other day, we were offered $39 for 3. They would NOT tell us how much each book was worth (personally, I thought this was strange), but that is about $13/book, give or take. So how did they suddenly lose so much value overnight; from about $13/book to less than $5/book? Im unsure if its because we brought in a larger collection this time; or if it might have something to do with which employee is looking through them and gives you the price. It seems as though the first employee that helped us did a much more fair price. Of course, we were just looking to move them out of our space, but getting paid a fraction of a fraction of their actual worth is completely disappointing. Even if each book was only worth $20 at full price (which I believe they are worth more, and you would too if you were looking at them), then at least $5 per book would be reasonable. To Half-Price Books: I know youre selling everything for half price (supposedly), but you couldnt at least pay me a quarter of the price? From now on, if I want to sell any book that is considered valuable, rare, collectible, etc., then I will do everything within my power to sell them on my own before I bring them here. If you just want to get rid of some old books in good condition, this is a great place. If you want your moneys worth for your spotless, untouched book collection, then please save yourself the crushing heartache, and try somewhere else. Dont get me wrong, Im grateful for the money thats now in my wallet. But, overall, I am definitely unsatisfied.

Clean, quiet, and well organized store buying and selling mostly used books, music, and software at amazing prices. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Selection is usually good, but dont expect to get much when selling your stuff.

I love the atmosphere in this store. Its clean, organized, and the categories are easy to find. I found two books in great condition and did a quick search online to price check. Both were exactly half the price compared to Amazon.

My favorite thing to do is check the clearance area, which often has quite a few excellent finds. The selection for history, literature, religious books. Not as good for genres, philosophy, science. Great staff.

Lots of fun browsing through the books, some deeply discounted. Sit for a while and read. Great gifts for adults and children. During good weather they have tables and chairs out on the sidewalk, fun!

A nice selection of books of all sorts, but they DO NOT have a very generous purchase policy if youre selling. HPB used to be much more fair in their offers for your books.
