We called Tom Wood with our payoff for our trade in vehicle and told the salesman the price we would pay for a new vehicle. He said they could work with us so we drove 80 miles to Anderson. When doing the numbers in the dealership, they had a different payoff amount for our civic (trade-in). When I brought this to their attention, they said dealerships sometimes get lower payoff amounts. When I went to call my bank the salesman said he double checked the payoff. I asked what would happen if it wasnt the right amount and he said the dealership would "make it right." When we were doing the paperwork, I also brought the payoff difference to the finance manager’s attention and he said he triple checked it and it was correct. When I told him that the salesman said if it was wrong they would make it right, he said "we absolutely will." Well, six weeks later, I get a call from the finance manager saying that they messed up the account numbers for my civic (after triple checking) and the payoff is more. The actual pay off for the trade it was exactly the same amount I told the salesman over the phone and the same amount I brought to the dealership. Ironic! Since I signed a form that on the back (in fine print) says I am liable for the difference I now have 10 days to pay. The salesman no longer works there; the finance manager now says he never said they would make it work. Funny how the sales manager can get the account number wrong THREE times. I am in the Military and used an online discount (price guarantee) offered by Tom Wood through our military bank. If they will do this to people serving our country, they absolutely will do this the general public. They got me. Dont let them get you. Get everything they say in writing - even if it is on a yellow sticky. Get a copy of everything they write down - everything. I could have gotten the same deal (now that I have to pay that difference) here in Indy - 4 miles away from my house. I believe the error in the trade in payoff may have been intentional to get me to purchase a new vehicle. That error got the new vehicle within $5.00 of my bottom line purchase price. Suspicious how that worked out, huh? Also, I must advise anyone doing business with Tom Wood Honda in Anderson to carefully check the VIN number on the sales contract. The dealership had my VIN number incorrect on the original sales contract so two days after the purchase I had to drive back to the dealership to get a new contract with the correct VIN number. For a car dealership to make two critical errors (incorrect pay off amount for trade in and incorrect VIN number for new vehicle) is a display of sloppy and questionable competency.

Update: I was contacted by Robert Kennedy-Edwards, the General Manager who worked at great length to make things right. We discovered that our Odyssey was indeed still not Certified Pre Owned, 3+ months after the purchase. We were instead given a warranty package that exceeded the CPO warranty. While the initial purchase process left much to be desired, Robert is working hard to "right the ship" at Tom Wood Honda and hopefully these issues wont arise again. Original Review My wife purchased what was advertised as a Certified Pre Owned Odyssey Touring two months ago. My wife did all of the paperwork on a Friday evening and we were to return on Saturday to finalize and pick up the car. Upon picking up the car we were handed a set of keys. I asked for a second set of keys and they told me it only came with one set - certified cars come with two and a valet key. After some discussion they reluctantly agreed to order another set of keys. Upon getting the car home we started noticing things - admittedly my wife didnt look the car over very wheel as she relied on the CPO status as a sign it was in terrific condition. Car had no manual. Body panel colors were slightly mismatched (could be sun?). There were large scratches crudely painted over with touch up paint. No CPO checklist was give. To us. On Monday the salesman Joe called and said they made a mistake and the car was actually not certified Pre owned by Honda as its condition did not meet the standard. This is two days AFTER completing the purchase. They said the dealer would give us an equal warranty. We were not happy. I sent a long email to Zach, the manager and left him voice mails. Zach never contacted me back, the dealer funneled all communication through Joe, despite multiple requests. Joe said the manager would only speak to us in person. The dealer was 1 hour away so this would require 1/2 day round trip for my wife and I. In the end, the dealer ended up getting the car certified and they said we would receive paperwork from Honda regarding this and verifying the benefits.... which never came - despite follow ups. I still never heard from the manager regarding the process, which being a small business owner really surprises me. I think Joe Price, the salesman, did a good job working to make us happy, but I am disappointed with the management at Tom Wood.

I dont like having to wheel and deal for a new car. I always feel like you spend hours and hours at the dealership and then once you make the decision to buy, youre there for a few more hours waiting on paperwork. That was not the case this time! Tom Wood was amazing!! My entire deal was brokered via text message from the comfort of my couch. Once we made the decision, we hopped in the car, the papers were ready and waiting, we signed on the line, and we were done! This dealership even stayed open past their regular business hours to accommodate us, as we had no idea they closed at 6:00 and didnt arrive until 6:30!! But heres the kicker, the guys at Tom Wood were so nice and personable, that I almost wish we had been there all day! Travis, our sales guy, was straightforward and very professional. No beating around the bush, no hidden dealer fees, no lip service. Tom Wood Honda may be a small dealership, but thats WHY they are so amazing - Excellent customer service. We had 3 other dealers willing to give us the same price as Tom Wood, so how does one choose? Well, you have to beat the price, not meet it. But that didnt even matter since all the other things that Tom Wood gave us would not make up for a dollar or two less in the monthly payment. First, they gave us one free car wash per week for the entire ownership of our vehicle. Second, they put all weather floor mats in the car (especially a big deal since we bought a minivan - huge amount of space to cover with mats). Third, we received a $250 Amazon gift card (Black Friday special). Last, the deal they were giving us was already AMAZING without all those extras. I told Honda of Fishers they would have to do way better than meet the price for all those reasons. Clearly, Tom Wood is heads and tails above the rest! If you are looking to buy new or used, please dont rule these guys out due to size or distance. Beside, they have a brand new, huge, gorgeous facility opening in March right off exit 226 on I-69. Much closer for me to get my free weekly car washes!
