Is Best Buy still a family oriented establishment? Apparently decreasingly so – at least with respect to the McDonough Georgia location. Just your average consumer, sharing repeated subpar experiences at the Best Buy on Jonesboro Road in McDonough GA (#668.) While I have occasionally had a great experience at this location, as a direct result of superb employees, there seems to be a recurrent and ongoing issue that I wanted to share. Having recently conducted a tremendous amount of research, I went into this store immediately after opening and intended to spend several hundred dollars on car audio upgrades, only to be met by a wall of music whose volume was oppressive and insurmountable. I would estimate the volume was upwards of, or perhaps even in excess of, 100db while standing approximately five feet away. A Best Buy employee was in the process of adding additional receivers and speaker selections, tuned to the same radio station, which made the noise progressively louder still. When he had concluded his configuration, he walked up to me (still standing five feet away,) and asked “Can I help you?” I responded with: “Wow, that sure is loud,” to which he simply stated “Yup” and walked a few feet away, leaned against one of the shelving units, and started fidgeting with his phone. I walk through the section briefly, but could not stand the volume and decided to depart the store. The employee followed me, and only after receiving an intense glare from the gentleman, I decided to speak to a manager to convey my experience. I’ve traveled all over the country and visited Best Buy locations throughout, but the McDonough location stands out as the singular departure to an otherwise welcoming atmosphere elsewhere. This is not the first time oppressively loud music has occurred at this location either. There have been numerous occasions, easily over 50% of my total visits there, where music has been played at deafening volumes. Furthermore, there were several occasions, where I was with family members, including my 4 year old nephew, where music with extremely vulgar explicit lyrics where echoing throughout the store. From an outsider’s perspective, it seems that location #668 condones the policy of vulgar music selections played at obtrusive volumes, at the discretion of one or more employees for the sole enjoyment of the same. The music selection and intense volume cannot be intended to benefit anything beyond the smallest percentage of customers, and therefore is almost certainly far more detrimental to business overall. This policy tarnishes the image and reputation of the McDonough store, and Best Buy as a company. Without the ability to shop in comfort or bring children to the store, and with the increasing prevalence and cost savings of online retail options, I’ve found myself questioning the prudence and wisdom of visiting the increasingly pernicious McDonough Georgia Best Buy. Again, if these policies are condoned and/or tolerated by management, is Best Buy still a family oriented establishment?

Came here to buy some car speakers and a phone mount. I normally buy from Amazon but figured I would get it locally with a price match. Naturally the pair of speakers are on a top shelf which requires a latter to reach. Being the sign abiding customer I am, I dont grab one of the ladders myself cause the sticker says it is for employee use only (liability, I get it). So I ask an employee for help and he says hes busy helping other customers (I didnt see any but okay). He then says hell call someone else over to help me. I hear him do it and no one came. I patiently wait for over 25 minutes and still no help. He then tells me hes helping like three different customers at once but apparently the other employees in the store were too busy to help. So now Ill just go home and buy them from Amazon like I should have from the beginning. Im sure its just a matter of time before this place ends up like Circuit City. If your prices are going to be higher than other retailers, you could at least have decent customer service.

Went to Geek Squad to get Macbook repaired. I already knew it was either a bad hard drive or a bad hard drive connector, explicitly told the geeks that. It took them two days to run the diagnostics....to tell me that it was a connector problem. However, they couldnt order the part and Id have to get it myself, bring everything back, to have the repair done for an additional $40. I really, really wish they would have told me that they couldnt order the part--I would 10000% have gone somewhere else. I spent $60 to have them tell me something I already knew, and I got a laptop back that still doesnt work. Not happy about that at all. I would have driven all the way up to the Apple store for the repair if Id known that they couldnt help me. Wasted my money and time. The customer service was outstanding, which is why they get 3 stars instead of 1. Ill still use geeksquad, just never, ever again for my apple products.

The best Best Buy I have shopped at in twenty years. I am in the military and shopped at tons of Best Buys across the US. This Best Buy does two elements that are not common in Best Buys anymore; one it has a trained staff and two it knows customer service. From buying a new Mac, PC, or Nikon, or XBox or wireless router, I have found the team to be extremely knowledgeable. I am about the product I am about to buy and its disappointing when I ;go to a Best Buy and know more than person selling me the product. Typically at most Best Buys, I am finding the customer service departments to be extremely slow and inept. Not here, this team has been trained to dive on your problem. Recently, on a product I was returning out of frustration, the salesperson called the manufacturer directly and let me talk to them. Problem solved within 72 hrs and I kept the product. Wow! I go out of my way to shop at the McDonough store.

Ive been going to this Best Buy for over 5 years now and the quality of service continues to go down every time I visit. Most of the time you get someone in a dept. that does not know about the products in detail. This past visit I called the store and the message states if you did not pre-order an iphone you can visit the store and get on a waiting list. You go to the phone section and they have no clue what your talking about. They go to a manager who did not come talk to me but the best buy worker says they are not doing it. There is a reason Best Buy will not be a physical place to visit in 5 years. They will be an online only company! Frustrated customer!

Beware of the open box items at this location, McDonough. Supposedly the geek squad has checked it out and given it the ok. Got the computer home...no battery detected. Will not stay on without the charger. Seems like that would have been obvious. Then when I called the store back, after waiting on hold for like 3 minutes. I told the associate what the problem was and asked how something like this could get passed inspection. A dry I dont know is all I got, no apology for the inconvenience nothing. Really...I wouldnt be irritate had I been told it was a buy at your own risk purchase. Anyway....guess Ill try the one in Macon.
