I was looking for 700 23c foldable Continental SuperSport Pluses and they only had Specialized Armadillo Elites. I liked how they didnt try and talk me into another tire like another shop did. I didnt like how they didnt have my first or second choice tire: same tire I got except NOT the Elite which is lighter but unreasonable more expensive considering my main activity is commuting. I liked how they were honest in explaining why I have trouble finding my tires in town, in stock: because these small shops are constantly trying to compete with online retailers who undercut local prices. I didnt like how the girl didnt seem to speak from experience in telling me the tires I wanted would give me a harsher ride than the Continental UltraSports I had, which I had read long before walking in their shop. After 100 miles, I can say the ride IS harsher but were talking princess and the pea harsher. You have to try hard just to notice the small ways its harsher, a harshness that was overstated in my opinion. Overall a good experience, but I am an young avid cyclists, male, knew what i wanted, and the sales person was a youthful female. I cant help but wonder if what would have happened if I was a young newbie and the sales person a male seasoned veteran. Ive witnessed at many shops how newcomers walk away feeling marginalized after dealing with rather caustic sales persons more concerned with CAT5 semi pro time trials than helping boost our numbers on the steets by welcoming newcomers into the fold.

Fantastic store! The owner was so helpful and accommodating. I was visiting from out-of-town and didnt have a cross-body shoulder bag to ride with. I rented a bike and he lent me his own bag to carry for the day! I got a Specialized step-through "comfy bike" and it was all tuned and ready to go when I picked it up. His sales associate took the time to go online with me and look at the Jacksonville area for places to eat/shop/ride. She told me to stop at any of their stores along the way if I needed help. The bike came with a lock to use and the price was unbeatable for the days rental. My whole experience was so great, I wished this store was in my neighborhood. Thanks so much for a ride!

This is my favorite place to go for anything bike-related. Ive been commuting to work on my bike for a few years now and Ive been very "learn-as-you-go" about it so far. The people at Open Road never make me feel awkward about not being knowledgeable, and they are great about answering questions. I stopped in first thing this morning on my way to work to inquire about new wheels & tires, and they told me they could have everything installed for me in 15 minutes. They even offered to store my old wheels for me until I could come back by in my car and pick them up. I definitely suggest trying these guys out. You wont be disappointed.

Open Road Bicycles has been a tremendous asset to our local cycling community. They have a great staff with excellent knowledge on a wide range of products to meet the needs of anyone from hardcore racer to beginning rider. Open Road also supports a wide variety of Events in the Jacksonville Community and has a host of Cycling Rides starting weekly from their location that cater to a wide range of abilities. Open Road has been helpful for my entire family and I am thankful for the work that they do. I highly recommend you check them out at their various locations across Jacksonville.

Im just in Jax for a few days, and wanted to get some riding in while here. I stumbled across Open Road after a recommendation from another bike store. Not all Open Road stores do rentals, so had to go to the one in San Marco. The guys there are fantastic! Really friendly and chatty, and eager to help me out, working with me to ensure I got the rental I wanted and needed. A great bike too (Specialized Allez), in great condition, and a great price (certainly much better than another store found in Jax). Thanks guys! I thoroughly recommend you to anyone.

The people at Open Road Bicycles in San Marco ROCK!!!! Took my damaged Mango Toucan to The Bike Shop at the Beach, POOR customer experience, no repairs! Took it to City Cycle on Park Street: Drew and Friends - just awful and pitiful combined. No repairs! Open Road obtained the part that "is not manufactured anywhere", made the repairs and got me out the door for under $50. City Cycle quoted $200.00 for the same gig. Ill buy my future bicycles from Open Road and urge you to use them as well is you feel you deserve excellent customer service.

My last experience with these guys was paying to get my derailleurs adjusted. Work order only stated that front derailleur got adjusted despite asking for both, took almost a whole week, and when I test rode the bike in the parking lot I dropped the chain immediately. Ill give them two stars because Ive had positive experiences with them before that. I felt completely ripped off paying a decent chunk of money and waiting almost a week just to have the chain dropped from a bad adjustment.

Concerned Shoppers, I have dealt with this bicycle shop on a number of occasions. There are three people that work in this shop that are rude and sarcastic. The staff treats their costumers as if they do not need to sale bicycles. While asking questions I would be talked down to, I would be treated as a poser (you’re a bicycle salesman, not a doctor). Do not shop at this store, until they can change management. Thanks Chase

My son, Quincy is bicycling from Florida to San Diego. After visiting several bike shops, we hit the jackpot when we walked into Open Road. Scott and Kailey have been amazing! They spent hours with my son, finding the perfect fit for his cross country adventure as well as finding solutions that will make his journey even better! You will not find a business that has better service or is run with more integrity.

I just moved to Jax and chose Open Road Bicycles based on others reviews. I was extremely pleased with the customer service and friendliness of the staff. I am a beginner cyclist and the staff that repaired my flat went step by step with me to show how me to do it on my own. He also told me about a weekly beginner ride they offer that leaves from their store. Great Store, Highly Recommend!

Open Road Bicycles in San Marco has provided excellent service on a number of occasions. From repairing my road bike to helping me select a bike for my wife and children, they have always been friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Open Road. Outside of great support they have a large selection of bikes to choose from.

I am serious when I say its the best shop in town. Scott goes above and beyond in taking care of customers and making sure they get the products and service they want and need. Open Road Bicycles can handle it all, from neighborhood bikes to all-out racing bikes (and they have helped me with the full spectrum). Check it out for yourself!
