We have been researching electric bicycles for quite some time and as we have seen The Bike Route for several years but never stopped in, I thought we would stop in and see if they carried electric bikes. After stopping in yesterday we had the pleasure of getting assistance from Steven, probably one of the most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable salesmen we ever met. Steven encouraged us to test ride one of their electric bikes (and this was the first time for either of us to actually rode an electric bike). We are very good cyclist, and have 6 different styles of bicycles in our garage that we ride on Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel etc.. We were having such a nice time visiting with Steven and taking short little rides down the covered walkway (since it was barely drizzle raining outside and we didnt want to get the bike wet). Even though we didnt want to get the bike dirty, Steven was gracious and encouraged us saying it is no big deal to wipe off the bike. Long story short, I was feeling warm and fuzzy and could tell that Mark was considering purchasing these two bikes at $2,300 each. I was taking it for one last ride without the power on to see how it heavy it feels to ride without power, which was remarkably easier than I thought. During that last ride the owner came outside and told Steven and Mark that due to the rain and the powerfulness of the bikes that we couldnt ride the bike anymore. Steven told the owner that this was our last ride and that the power on the bike was not currently turned on. The owner said again very firmly that the rides were over. We totally understand the liabilities of testing a powerful electric bike in the rain, but the owner was overly harsh in telling us about it. Other than that slightly negative experience it was a great visit and we highly recommend Steven at The Bike Route if you are looking at any bicycle purchase and we still may come back after checking out some other bike shops and bike models.

I bought a bicycle for both my daughter and myself from this store. The employees seemed courteous and helpful. When I received a flat tire a few months after purchase and returned for repair they replaced the inner tube and checked for the cause unsuccessfully but send me on my way with the bike "repaired". So I take the bike home and ride it for 5 minutes on the side of my house to make sure the tire is good. Everything seems fine so I bring it inside my house. The next morning low and behold the tire is flat again. Now I can understand that there is a possibility that I may have run over something in those 5 minutes and received a new flat tire but this seems a bit unlikely and extremely coincidental. Now in my opinion a good business should replace this $20 item for free. Unfortunately they would rather lose my future business and the business of everyone I know for $20. That is not the kind of company I like to frequent and I would not recommend this store to anyone. The complete lack of customer service and responsibility for their faulty repairs, not to mention its a 20 minute drive for me each way and I had to make the trip 2x in 2 days. This really saddens me because I had recommended this store to a few friends and some family members and now I have to retract my recommendation and make sure that they do not go here.

My husband and I recently retired in Cape Coral and were looking for new bikes to ride. We checked out several bikes shops in Cape Coral but the positive reviews on the web about Bike Route in Ft. Myers prompted us to check them out. The reviews said that Bike Route had great customer service and we have to agree. We would recommend this bike shop to anyone looking for a bike. They have a great selection of bikes and Bob had us try a few brands of comfort bikes. It was easy to test ride them in the large parking lot where the store is located. We were able to compare the different rides of the bikes without high pressure sales. This is the place to go if you are looking for a bike. Great friendly, honest staff. Prices were comparable to other bike shops. Highly recommend this bike shop.

Customer Service needs improvement. After Purchasing 2 quality bikes from these folks i had a problem with a broken spoke. I called and mentioned that i had purchased a "Speed 1" from them and had a broken spoke. I asked if they had quality spokes in stock and they said yes. Finally I asked if I brought the wheel in if they could service it for me while i waited. I was told No, and that I would have to drop it off. Lets just say that for a minor repair like this I was upset. I could not be happier with the bikes that I purchased from them. It just seems like in my opinion they could have made an effort to take care of this small problem. My suggestion is to consider this review if you are looking for the kind of service that I am after the sale.

The Bike Route is an outstanding bike shop. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about bikes. Theyre also very patient with novices. Ive bought a couple bikes and had them serviced here over the past few years and have always been satisfied. They also have a very good selection of bikes, gear and equipment. Im not one to gush, but if youre in the Fort Myers area and want to rent or buy a bike, get one serviced, or just pick up some tubes, I would recommend them highly.

Not a good high end shop if you have a very good bike. Tuneup not Good and then got a lecture from the kid who did the work on how my bike was dirty and he got his hands all dirty doing the work, price was 3 x what was quoted and front derailler did not work, had to fix myself . Will do the tuneup myself next time and get it done right and save the money. BTW I am a USCF Cat 3 and ride 12,000 miles per year, so not just a guy on a Huffy from Walmart.

I must say, this store is miles ahead of its competitors. The staff is amazing and their prices are the best in town. Most of their prices are on par with Amazon but you can get it the same day AND help out a local business that has been in the Fort Myers area for decades. Steve and Dan always help me pick what products are right for me. Do yourself a favor and stop by. I have fallen in love with this store so much that I make weekly visits.

We rented bikes for a week stay in Cape Coral. The bikes were a very nice assortment of "comfort bikes". The bikes came with a chain to lock em up. Were also able to rent helmets & baskets. They even had a Saris bike rack, which i love. Unfortunately the car could not accomodate the bike rack so they dropped the bike off & picked them up. The staff we very helpful & accomodating. We enjoyed our rides very much.

Staff at first seemed helpful, but when I questioned about a bike rack the tone of the sales guy seemed somewhat condescending. Therefore, what was seconds away from buying a bike and rack costing around $1,000.00 turned into a no sale and I left. Attitude is everything! If this is how I expect to treated after I made a purchase. Looking elsewhere.
