Let me open by saying that this Petco is one of the BEST pet stores Ive ever been to. I love their huge selection of animal goodies. This is a rather large store and very nicely laid out. Ive been shopping here since I moved to the area a year ago-hesitantly I might add. Ive been a Pet Smart/Pet Supermarket customer my entire life, but since Petco was the closest pet store I took my chances and ended up loving this past all of the other stores I was accustomed to shopping at. Petcos Pals membership (free) also gives you 5% back on every $100 spent, which helps out a lot if you have as many pets as I do (2 dogs, 2 cats, a sugar glider, and some fish). A few weeks ago, I bought my first 10-gallon tank. I couldnt wait to full it up with something other than shrimp, so Ive come to know the guy working the fish area very well. His name is Andrew and he couldnt be nicer! Very, very helpful and I cant stress this part enough-KNOWS WHAT HES DOING!!! Having shrimp in a tank is VERY hard to find compatible tank mates with that wont eat them since shrimp is a primary ingredient in most fish foods. Andrew custom-orders all of the fish in his dpt and knows every little bit about them! This store has exotics too, such as: bamboo shrimp, flounder, eels, crayfish, golden rabbit snails, and so many more I couldnt name. Hes always in the fish area so theres no need to wait around for an employee to show up. He truly loves his job. Finally, my boyfriend and I took our Husky pup to have training with Sara and she couldnt be nicer! 15 years experience working with dogs and very helpful and willing to work around our schedule. Dog training is very expensive, but she gave us a deal anyways and if its training for the rest of your dogs life, its an investment well-made. P.S. To the lady that gave this store 1 star a year ago, Im sorry. Iams is terrible dog food and everybody that REALLY DOES care about their dogs so much to reference them as their children does NOT feed Iams or any other dry food to their dog. Dry food=dehydration in a bag! They usually have 5% water content and your dog has to really drink a lot to replenish the water deprived from the food. Yes, Iams does have the first ingredient as chicken, but you must have stopped reading there. The second is chicken by-product (a big no no in the pet food industry when it comes to healthy pets), the third is cornmeal, and the fourth is whole grain. Dogs cant have cornmeal or grains in their diet as it promotes dry, itchy skin as well as not easily digested by their systems so it passes right through them. Hello, tons of extra poop! Not to mention the common food allergies and other health reactions. Yes the employee could have spared the dramatics, no, not everyone is as sane as you are. By the way, Blue is a very good brand of dog food-one of the best in fact. Do your research. Now if you want to talk about treating your pets like children, I can compete with that. I feed my cats Wellness. I wanted to cook them meals so I knew what the ingredients were and to ensure that they were getting the healthiest meals possible. Wellness does this without slaving in the kitchen and freezing mushy recipes for them in the freezer for weeks on-end. At $1.89 a can, its very expensive, but my cats will FAR outlive most others, and thats why I keep slaving away at work so they can have such a fantastic quality of food. Ill never give them anything else.

My wife and I took our three dogs into Petco yesterday for their shots and flea/heart medication. In years past weve taken them to our local vet but decided to give the associated Vetco a try as they were offering a discount for shots. Couldnt have been a worse decision! The girl doing the meet and greet at the desk to take down details was reasonable enough if something of an airhead, but the vet they had on duty inside was as appalling as one could imagine. This surly guy had the bedside manner of Joseph Mengele, just no rapport at all with either people or animals. Most vets in my experience actually do love animals - this guy couldnt give a crap and to all intents and purposes looked like some crusty old wino theyd pulled off the street and stuck in a uniform. While the girl whod met with us went through the cost options for some of the treatments he simply went and sat down in a chair, because it was all too obviously beneath his contempt to get involved in the process or actually interact with the customers. Clearly Vetco needs a licensed vet on hand to be able to conduct its business, and just as clearly this guy was some castoff they picked up on the cheap whos so thoroughly obnoxious that he cant maintain his own business. I knew it was a mistake within minutes and felt trapped into staying, but my wife just found the whole process appalling and simply told them we were leaving. The vet just raised his eyebrows at us in exasperation as we walked out. This was quite simply the worst experience Ive ever had at a vet when it comes to regular visits. It may cost us more but weve booked into our regular vet to get the shots taken care of. To anyone reading this do yourself a favor - go find a good vet clinic and stay away from this fast food variant that offers substandard service from obnoxious staff.

I have been to many Petcos but this one is by far my favorite. The sales associates are always either busy at work or helping customers. The thing that makes this store stand out so much from all the others are the sales associates drive to make every customer feel like they are making a great decision on their purchase. The person that did that for me is named Andrew. If he is working when you are there, I strongly suggest asking for him. I was needing help picking out a dog food for my newly adopted dog, Heidi. Heidi is a 5-7 year old Shepard/Lab mix with a front leg abnormality. She also got two terrible hot spots in the first month of adopting her. I went into Petco with enough research to know that grains in the food can sometimes cause the hot spots on the animals and then found Andrew who was helping people on the sales floor on his break. Ive worked retail before and I know how much that little break can mean to someone who has been on their feet for hours. I told him that I dont mind waiting for someone that isnt on their break but he insisted on helping me. Andrew then went on listening to all the things I want in a dog food (ingredients to help with joints and grain free). He also asked me how much I would like to spend on the bag of food. He then spent close to 30 minutes walking aisle after aisle telling me what to look for in the different ingredient list. It has been close to a month since Ive switched Heidi to Merricks grain free dog food and she no longer bites or scratches herself. Andrew you are awesome! Thank you for the undivided attention you showed me. I will continue to drive 45 minutes out of my way just to continue to support you and your coworkers. -Noel
