well at first they were awesome. nicest people in the world (because i was looking to give them money of course) they do not pressure you which is one positive thing i will say, and also, STEVE is a great salesman. the owner on the other hand is an arrogant, selfish man who is only looking to cover his a**. i bought a car from them on a monday. i should not have driven this car off the lot the way it looked. it was BARELY clean, they did not align it like they promised in the written contract that THEY AND MYSELF signed... i overlooked that. then, it gets better... the minute i pull it in my driveway, the check engine light comes on. i call them to see if the problem can be resolved, and they tell me to take it to auto zone (?) because it is 4.30pm and they close at 5. Fair enough. i usually want to go home around then also. ANYWAYS. i go to work the next day, wait all day to get an appointment (which means sitting by the phone waiting for some mechanic to call me). Finally they call, (around 4.30 again, remind you) now they tell me i have to bring it in some other day for them to hook it up, THEN make ANOTHER appointment to see if the problem can be resolved. So, i agree (stupid) The next day, i come outside and find a LUG NUT to my WHEEL on the GROUND. (strike 2) my fiance tightens at least a DOZEN more that arent tightened. (um safety issues??) Finally, i take it there, having to take a day off of work without pay to deal with these problems. I tell the OWNER all my stories, and he tells me that the "mechanic" who serviced my car was only there for less than a month, and that they have had complaints about him forgetting other important things, also. (so let him keep trying, right?) then he has a cute little comment for me when i mention that i could have gotten seriously injured or killed in an accident if the wheel came off... he says "well im sure other dealerships have forgotten to tighten those sometimes, and no one else died" (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) SO I get frustrated, tell the owner i want a different car (because bad things come in 3s and im not sticking around to see what the 3rd incident is...) and he disappears, comes back to tell me that i need to pay him an additional 4grand for "maintenance" on the car that will sit on his lot for "2 months" while he "waits for the title from the bank". needless to say, i said "have a nice day" and went to Blasius Chevy in Waterbury, traded in this Satan of a car, and got myself a BRAND NEW 2009 car, for 50$ a MONTH less than the 04 i had originally purchased from J&M. Oh, and P.S. the owner of Blasius did not ask me for another 4grand for the car to "sit on the lot waiting for the title". Actually, the car was cleaned (better than J&M cleaned it) looking better than ever, and up for sale, title in hand, within 3 days. NOT 2 MONTHS, as JAMES at J&M claimed. AFTER i decided to trade the car in, i told james i would be cancelling the extended warranty i purchased for 1700$. he told me there was a $150 cancellation fee, so i called the warranty company, and there was NO fee. so i went there, signed the cancellation paper, and told him the company said there is not fee, so therefore, you wont need anything else from me.....So i would love to see what "explanation JAMES would have for me AFTER i gave him 4grand AND the 150 cancellation fee, found out his fraud, and got authorities involved? he would say NOTHING. and DO NOTHING, just as he and his "mechanics" had already done. These people are jokes, and make sure you read all the fine print before signing your life and your first born over to them.

My wife and I thought we did our research when we were looking to buy a used car. We checked all the reviews including the Better Business Bureau, but that still was not enough. We dealt with Brad who was a fast talker. That shouldve been our first red flag. We ended up buying a 2008 Honda Civic and our second mistake was not taking it to our trusted mechanic first, but we trusted J&M. When we bought the car we brought it into our mechanic just to be safe. He told us while the car was in good shape it needed 4 tires as the current ones were all worn and the car was out of alignment. He also said all of the fluids needed changing. When I called and talked to Brad he put me in touch with the head mechanic who told me that while they check all of the fluids they only change the oil. He asked me why I didnt have a mechanic look at it in the first place. If J&M is so trustworthy then why would I need to? He also went on to tell me that the price we paid for the car was lower than any dealer which goes to the old saying you get what you pay for. He may be right, but I wouldve gladly paid a few hundred more for peace of mind. Brad also promised to send us some touch-up paint for the car. After calling him several times to see when it would come I finally gave up. Yeah, J&M got our money, but they will not get repeat business from us and we will advise any of our friends and relatives to stay away. My advice if you still want to buy from them. Spend the $100.00 to have someone you trust look the car over before you buy and then go in with your list of fixes or have them reduce the price of the car. J&M does the minimum to get the car off the lot. That may be legal, but that doesnt make it right. Good luck.

While I absolutely love my car, the experience with J&M was terrible. I bought my car in 2014. We were from Stamford at the time and passed by here on our way to something else. I fell in love with my car but they had it in the garage because they had just gotten it in and were going to get ready to work on it. The weatherstripping was coming off and they said it would be fixed, we mentioned a musty smell which they said it would be looked at and taken care of. When we drove up there to pick it up again, they "misplaced" the emissions test form, aka they hadnt done it (which one of the ladies said was basically the case, although our sales person denied it). They promised to drive the car down to meet me at work in Stamford. Ill give it to them, they did that, but the weatherstripping hadnt been fixed and the smell was still in the car. It hadnt even been cleaned a little bit. When we got it home we opened everything up and aired it out, to find shattered glass in with the spare tire. It seemed as though once we bought it, they didnt even look at it again (even for the emissons test!). We called back a few times to talk about the things they promised to fix but our sales person was never available and everyone said they couldnt help us and we would have to speak with her. Finally we gave up because it just wasnt worth the hassle with them. I know its been a while, but its worth telling because although I do love my car, I would never recommend anyone to buy here because they dont seem to be about the customers, they just want to get their cars out the door. Ever since then, Ive warned people about dealing with them. Just be cautious.
