Well, I have held my tongue for several years now about my horrid experience at Automotive Avenues. My salesman a hotshot named "Big Dog" was the stereotypical nightmare of a car salesman. He really saw me coming, not only taking full advantage of my need for a vehicle but lied about the condition of the SUV I purchased. He showed me a "carfax" type report that stated there were no accidents on the one year old former rental car from Utah. Big Dog would not let me go. I kept trying to walk away from the sale, but he was relentless - we actually were at the dealership until almost 11 p.m. when I finally caved and purchased. He also kept yammering and hammering about their multi-point inspections so I thought I was purchasing a safe car but felt that it was still a bit high priced for a V-6 automatic push button 4WD Explorer. I just wanted out of there and caved. My bad. I picked it up the next morning and drove it immediately from Denver to So. Calif for a work project. On the way it began to act up and drive funny. When I went into the Ford Dealership in CA for an evaluation, (three days after purchase) I learned that the reason the fog lamps never worked and that the alignment was off (drove funny) was because the car had suffered a front end collision and was not repaired properly. I was informed that the car was not safe to drive and that it was a miracle I made it all the way to CA. The CA dealer was kind enough to loan me a car for the week while they worked out the repair issues with Automotive Avenues. The work that was necessary was expensive and major so the car would be safe to drive. I was outside of the 72 hour and mileage limits for any type of return (to Colorado), so I requested Automotive Avenues pay for the repairs and refund the difference in the value loss (about $2800 of the purchase price). Mr. Big Dog refused and was a complete jerk about it until the CA dealer stepped in, citing consumer protection laws or some such stuff.... In the end, about 80% of the repairs were covered by Automotive Avenues, but I was still out the difference in the value loss - perfect car vs wrecked and repaired car plus the interest on the amount over several years of car payments. This Auto Ave salesman had no regard for my safety and lied about the condition of the car I bought. There is no way that the multi-point inspection he touted could have missed the under carriage damage still present on the vehicle. I sincerely hope this salesman is out of the business; maybe working in waste management since he seemed so comfortable shoveling stuff!

My wife and I purchased a truck about 3 months back. We were very pleased with Brian who got us through the purchasing process. We felt really good about everything when we left. About 3 weeks later, the fuse for the fuel pump blew. I didnt think too much of it since things happen. But after that I started having hard starts. I popped the battery when I changed the fuse so I figured there was a relearn process. I had also been using premium fuel and sometimes that can affect things if the previous owner used a lower fuel. Things take time to readjust. After a month or so I took it into the service department. They couldnt find anything wrong, and had done the relearn process again. Shortly after I started having the issues again and wasnt able to get it back in for another week. We broke done on the highway on the 4th of July. I finally was able to limp it home after disconnecting the battery again. We got it to the shop and left it for a week while I was out of town. They had to replace the fuel pump, the relay and an injector. Thankfully I bought the warranty, but it would have been nice to be comped a repair like that given the history of the issue/recent purchase. My wife picked it up and told me that while she was driving the next day the "Check Fuel Inlet" light came on. I dont get concerned too much with warnings. I read up and sometimes after work on the fuel system it can happen. It should turn off. It ran fine so no bother. 4 days after picking it up Im filling up at the station and gas starts pouring out from the underside of the truck. Once it leveled out I drove it the 2 blocks to my house with a steady stream of gas coming out of the bottom of my truck. I was told it was a faulty O-ring that wasnt sealing properly, but Im not sure that wasnt something that could have been overlooked. It definitely wasnt the safest situation to be in. Jerry at the desk was helpful as always. I could tell he was frustrated and even told them to wash the truck. I think they sprayed it down because there was still quite a bit of mud there, but he wants the best and I appreciate it. Customer service has been 5 stars, vehicle reliability/safety with a 240 Point inspection guarantee is questionable. I know things happen, but this hasnt been the best.

In 2014 my car buying experience with Auto Aves was great and my first few visits to the service department were great as well. However, last week was the worst experience I have ever had with any service department. I dont know if it is because of my race, age or gender. The service department recommended rotating my Camry tires and a 27 point inspection with the oil change I requested. The service department did the oil change and I dont know if they did the 27 point inspection. The next day I noticed that the 20 fake caps and/or metal locks were missing. The service department told me to contact them on Monday when the mechanic who did the work would be in. I called again the next day and the service advisor told me he would get the parts and have them ready on Monday. I live in Aurora (right) (25.3 miles). So, I drove all the way back to Lakewood only to be told that these quarter inch round black bolts with a 2 inch stem were all they had and that I must have an aftermarket product. (Whatever) I may be wrong but I mostly see half inch silver nuts/caps with silver hubcaps which is what my neighbors Camry and my daughters Matrix have on them. My husband told me that the high speed tool they use to remove the caps/nuts breaks them. I would rather the service department had told me that the caps/nuts were broken instead of lying to me or explained that the caps/nuts could break prior to them rotating the tires giving me the option to decline. I guess the service department just doesn’t want to pay for 20 new caps/nuts. To make matters worse, my car is now vibrating when I reach 60 mph. Now I am being told that I need to balance the tires. The service department suggested rotating them back (DUH). Considering I did not have time and the service department had given me a deal, Im sure I would not have received a refund. The service department also forgot the "next service date reminder" sticker. Thankfully, my car will tell me when maintenance is required! I will be taking my Camry to a reputable Toyota dealer in the Aurora area from now on. I am just disappointed that I now have to purchase 20 nuts/caps out of my own pocket and pay for someone to balance the tires because I am never letting Auto Aves touch my car again.
