Having recently moved from Portland, Oregon. I was uncertain to expect from the galleries here in old Colorado City. Chavez gallery was one of the most welcoming, creative and informative locations I have been able to visit. Watching the owners work and enjoy the space they were using to the fullest, was an absolute thrill. Liese Chavez is a skilled and affable painter/Gallery owners. Kris (if I remember correctly) was in a side room making very impressive glass/enamel (I think) earrings of various types. My favorite was the small egg and piece of bacon. I mean, come on... Bacon.. I had high hopes for all locations in the area, yet Chavez gallery was the only location that I explored that had interactive artwork and places that encouraged you to touch, explore and create your own curio doll on a magnet board and several more hands-on treasures. It is likely obvious, I am not skilled at reviews. Yet, this gallery shines out. If you find yourself near, please, go meet them. You will be glad to have had the experience.
