As someone who has built PCs for himself for several decades, Ive purchased here before. On Monday 8-9-2010 at around 6:45p, I attempted to return a heatsink and fan that I purchased for around $20. When I purchased this heatsink, the salesman had assured me that it would give me the same performance as the stock Intel heatsink/fan, and they didnt have anything better to offer me anyways. Unfortunately this one didnt even reach that minimal level. It ran hotter than the stock Intel. The PC shut down from heat several times in just a couple days. Even though I had most of the packaging and even offered to take a store credit, the reason given was that I didnt have the cardboard insert. I wasnt dissatisfied with the product. It simply didnt work as advertized. I bought a heatsink from Frys for around $30, where the selection was several dozen times greater. I didnt see one that looked as poorly designed/cheap as the one Santa Cruz Electronics sold me either. The one I purchased from Frys gave me more than 5 degrees C lower temperature during load (even more during idle). Also, Im guessing that Frys would have refunded my money even with the missing packaging. I dont want to piddle over $20 but shouldnt the local place you run to in an emergency have quality products? Im unlikely to purchase here again.

Almost bought the wrong USB cable and the guy at the counter actually noticed and asked if I was sure thats what I needed. I was blown away by this simple thing. Thats what you get for shopping at an electronics store where the people working there actually know about electronics! At first I thought the cable was overpriced, but I was on the clock. So I actually saved my boss money by not driving elsewhere. Their stuff may seem expensive, but remember youre paying to keep one of the last true electronics stores alive. And given the time savings, the prices might not be so bad in the bigger picture.

Amazing service!! My shipped computer would get no display after shipping and no hard drive activity light. I feared for the worst and came in expecting bad news, a bill for diagnostics and a list of parts I would need to replace. Within 5 minutes my rig was working (loose cpu bolts) and no charge whatsoever. I lucked out not only with my desktop problem but also the great service provided by Paul. If I ever have PC issues again Im going straight to the experts here at Santa Cruz electronics!!! Best tech support ever!!!

this is the go-to place for electronics in Santa Cruz. Radio Shack gave up on electronics back when cell phones were new and their sales force is all sales and no knowledge. SCruz Electronics has expertise and stock of all kinds of stuff you cant find unless you want to go over the hill.

Helpful staff. Great prices on LEDs and cables. Got a type c cord for my boyfriend here for only $12 when everywhere else wanted $25-$40 for one. A little pricey on some other things though, like project boxes. Definitely check them out if you need electronic parts or LEDs.

This is the place to go in Santa Cruz for anything computer related knowledgeable sales people unlike the morons you may find next to Safeway. Excellent business, they often posses my difficult to procure technological Items. Only place like this in Santa Cruz. :D

Very helpful people and knowledgeable. I prefer buying from this local shop than elsewhere because of their knowledge. And if they dont stock a particular item they will still talk to you about your needs and not try to sell you something you dont need.

Very helpful. Clerk was willing to do some research on a rare part for me at no cost. I found him to be much more learned and experienced than anyone Ive ever met at a Radio Shack. Great to see a return to service in the small businesses.
