Our recent experience with Best Buy in SLO was excellent. We went in to see if our favorite salesman was there to show us more about the camera we bought from him. Pat was there and he was his usual friendly, professional, and helpful self. We told him of our trouble with our T.V. and remote control. He suggested we buy a new remote control and have The Geek Squad come out to set it up with our equipment. He said Matt is the best tech person around and he was correct. We set up the appointment which included knowing exactly what we would be paying! Matt and Christian came out and very quickly fixed the problem and also addressed other problems we were having with our surround sound speakers. All this was included in the initial price. When our DISH DVR started to malfunction last week and had to be replaced, the remote control malfunctioned. Christian came out the day after we called and reprogrammed it in no time. I hope that Best Buys corporate and management staffs recognize that they have three gems working for them in Pat, Matt, and Christian. It is very comforting to know they will be there for us in the future. Our previous experience trying to get our home entertainment center equipment functioning well has been appalling. Addendum: Unfortunately the so-called Security Person at the door acted like a jackass and was very disrespectful. He was not paying attention when we walked out but suddenly must have noticed that I had the packaged remote control we bought in my hand. He came running out of the call YELLING at me to stop. To add to this disgusting event, I had no idea what he was yelling or that he was yelling at me because his English was so poor. He was indeed trying to stop me to see my receipt. That person needs to be fired rather than re-trained.

Every time i go into this place i feel like Im being watched like a hawk, and not for helpful sincere care but as if Im going to steal the store. I have spent a lot of money on various electronics at this store over the years (due to lack of stores in the area), and i am repaid by being treated like this. I had a friend who worked for them that they actually hold peoples profiles in a lock file who look shady or suspicious, and i kid you not he saw my friend and i in that lock file! He told the manager who removed us when he told him we were his friends(Thats Profiling). I just went in there yesterday and i was looking at camcorders (which are tied down, alarm tagged, and docked) and i was having a time trying each one out until.. "Can i help you find anything?" I said "No, Im just deciding which one i like best so when i get paid i already know what i want" Then i asked him a question to humor him, and he didnt know JACK about camcorders, and didnt even get anyone else to help, just "Oh yea sorry".. Yea followed buy a swarm of 3 smurfs in khakis with headsets facing my direction all observing me as i uncomfortably finished checking out the HD sony handycams. I know i dont look like i have money, and thats true.. But that doesnt make a person a thief, and when i do save up to buy my first camera it will not be at this "Best"Buy or any other. Creeps

I purchased a $1000 home surround system from them. One of the speakers was bad, so I took it back to the store for a replacement. They sent me back home to bring the entire system in. When I did, they boxed it up and set it out for repair. When it came back - it was horribly scratched. They were very cool about it, and said that they were going to get it repaired or replaced. When it came back to the store, I scheduled a GeekSquad appointment and paid $150 to install it. They promised to come between noon and 4 - but never showed up. My wife took the afternoon off work and lost wages. Nobody even bothered to call. When I called to see what was up, I could not reach anyone at the store, the call continued to jump to the #800 number. The #800 number call center does not have the ability to connect with the store nor do they have the ability to see the stores system for managing orders - at least that is what I was told. I called back today to reschedule an appointment. There is no option to connect to GeekSquad in the store to check on the status of a repair or service call. They connect you to sales - and the sales people take a message - which they did. Hours later I got a call back with a voice mail that says that they will be out on Tuesday - wish me luck.

Went in to get help installing a screen protector on an iPod touch. The apple person sent me to the cellphone dept. The wait/queue was 30-1 hour. I decided to visit another time. I arrived 30 min before store closing , one cellphone person working. Behind me a frantic customer who needed his cellphone replaced. In front of me 2 guests being helped. I received some help from a wandering blue shirt but had no luck. He then referred me to the Samsung counter, yet again no luck. Samsung doesnt work on iPods. The S person directed me to customer service. Let me tell u , this white shirt had NO clue what he was allowed to do!!!! I then returned to the cellphone dept only to be referred to the geek squad. Geek squad was will and apparently able but at a charge of $8!!!! It isnt really the charge but the run around being directed to get a bubble free screen protector installed. Needless to say , I will not be making ANY purchases at this store. With price /ad matching I will be shopping everywhere else but at BB. And folks!!! Im in the market for a lot of new technology. I dont own flatscreen yet, I still have an old old iPhone , need a new desktop and laptop.

Took my laptop in since Windows update stopped computer from starting and start disks werent helping either. They told me they would have to send it off and could cost up to 1500 to retrieve the info; decided to pickup the laptop as i pondered what to do. I noticed on the paper work their comments were they didnt have the right adapter and they didnt have the startup disks, so i got the impression they never did anything. I know a little about computers so I took the hdd out to see what adapter could possibly be and see if i could buy one myself and it turned out it was a standard SATA HDD power and data cable. I proceeded to plug it into my desktop and ran chkdsk and six hours later i retrieved my data and the laptop runs again despite them saying the HDD was bad...Avoid this place, theyll scam you!!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! This store has repetedly let me down. The customer service associates are rude and ignorant. One person will tell you something and another will totally disagree with them. Talking to a real manager is nearly impossible. When an item is "not returnable" it should be clearly marked or stickered on the product. I simply want my money back for a $50 item which was faulty. I dont want another one of the SAME FAULTY PRODUCT! To me $50 is a lot of money that I worked hard to earn. To Best Buy, its nothing! Im sure they theft/shrink that amount of product each hour. BEST BUY SAN LUIS OBISPO, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!
