Sports Basement Presidio is a sporting goods store located in San Francisco, California. The store offers a wide range of sporting equipment and apparel, from running shoes to camping gear. The store is known for its competitive pricing and extensive inventory.
The reviews indicate a mixed bag when it comes to customer service. Some customers have praised the store's staff for their knowledge and helpfulness. For instance, one customer mentioned that the staff were very knowledgeable and helped them find exactly what they needed for a backpacking trip. On the other hand, there are reviews that highlight a lack of adequate customer service. One customer had a disappointing experience, stating that they had difficulty getting assistance and felt neglected during their visit.
Customers generally find the product range to be extensive, covering various sports and outdoor activities. The store is often compared to a "Trader Joe's of sporting equipment" due to its competitive pricing. However, some customers noted that certain items were cheaper on Amazon. The store also offers various discounts and membership benefits, which customers appreciate.
The staff's knowledge and professionalism are frequently mentioned in reviews. Customers have noted that the staff are not only knowledgeable about the products but also about the history of the building and the surrounding area. Staff members have been described as courteous and professional, adding to the overall positive shopping experience for many.
The store's location received mixed reviews. While some find it convenient, especially those with cars, others find it a bit out of the way. The store does offer ample parking space, which is a plus for those who drive. However, for those without a car, the location could be less convenient.
The store offers unique services like "Basically Free Bike Rentals," where customers can rent a bike and receive store credit of the same amount. This feature was particularly praised by tourists. The store also hosts free classes and has a variety of rental options for sports equipment.
The store layout is generally considered to be spacious, but some customers have pointed out that it could benefit from clearer signage. The store has been described as having a "rugged feel" with no unnecessary advertisements, which customers seem to appreciate.
The general consensus is that Sports Basement Presidio offers a wide range of products at competitive prices. While the customer service experience may vary, the knowledgeable staff and additional features like bike rentals and classes make it a popular choice for both locals and tourists.

Rating based on (lack of) service. After hearing good things and seeing the good reviews, I had an incredibly disappointing time-suck of a trip to this store. I went in with a long list of items for new post-operation activities I know nothing about and desperately needed help. After half an hour trying to flag someone down in the shoe department, we tried the swim department. After 10 minutes my husband finally found someone, but they kept wandering off to help other people in the middle of "helping" me. Finally, we hunted someone down to help me find a second ankle support wrap for swimming. He took me to the proper kiosk, but when he learned that they dont carry the brand of my current wrap, he just walked away rather than staying to help me find a suitable alternative. So I walked away, too - right out the door and in the car to On the Run in the Inner Sunset. In fifteen minutes they had me fitted with proper shoes for my recovery and a second wrap. Sports Basement clearly has the inventory, but do not go unless you already know exactly what you want to buy and have no need for any actual customer service.

This place is awesome. Its huge and not a building full of equipment youd expect in San Francisco. Prices are competitive for SF, although a few things I was interested in were cheaper on Amazon. Luca, one of the staff that works nights, was great. He helped me order a leather weight belt online that they didnt have at this particular location. He was also very knowledgable and was very courteous and professional, not only to the customers, but also to the new cashier who was ringing my girlfriend and me up. I randomly asked him about the decor (looked like a super market), and he even knew the history of the building (old military commissary) . After being used to unfriendly/unknowledgeable staff AT OTHER PLACES, I was very pleased to converse with someone who: 1. Knew where all the equipment was 2. Knew where he could find the items I needed from their online website 3. Knew the history of the building 4. Was friendly to the other staff members 5. (probably other stuff Im forgetting, but this guy probably deserves a few promotions)

sports basement is like the trader joes of sporting equipment, here are the reasons why: 1) competitive pricing: the prices are too good to be true. the same pair of asics i bought elsewhere was much cheaper at sports basement. 2) selection: a bit limited just like trader joes, but overall, good enough merchandising, youll probably find what youre looking for 3) service: great service and knowledgeable staff 4) mom & pop: its got a rugged feel. no fancy branding, no unnecessary advertisements to cloud your judgment. theres even a kiddie play area to keep the children entertained :) because of the awesome prices the sizing is a bit limited... but did i mention i walked out of sports basement with 4 pairs of uggs? oh yes, i did.

This is a huge outdoor store with pretty much everything youd want. The staff were friendly and helpful. If you are a tourist in San Francisco and want to rent a bike go to its Fishermans Wharf bike rental called Basically Free Bike Rentals. It works like this: rent a bike for one day for $32 (or by the hour for $8) and you get that amount in credit at their store that is on the path to Golden Gate Bridge. I did just that and picked up a couple of things I needed. I spent and extra $2 when buying a couple of items I wanted. So, basically, my bike rental for the day was free. What an awesome system! Im happy I went there. The staff at the bike shop were great. The bikes are all the same but well taken care of and all you need to cycle the city.

This location provides the same exemplary service as the Bryant Street store but I knocked off a point for location. If you have a car, its probably MORE convenient but for those of us without wheels, its a bit tougher to get to. They do have a huge parking lot though and every kind of sporting gear you could ever need. The last time I went, they could have used more clear signage - it was a bit difficult to navigate - but I seem to remember the woman at the register said they were working on that. It was years ago, so hopefully theyve marked the sections a little more clearly.

Cameron in the camping section helped me and my boyfriend out, to prep for a backpacking trip. We would have wandered for hours without his expertise!! He was very knowledgable and made the shopping trip a lot easier for us. He basically just asked us what we needed and walked with us section to section. This was my first time stepping into Sports Basement and I will continue to shop at Sports Basement because of this positive experience. It is nice to see the days of excellent customer service are not completely over. Plus, the store really does have pretty much everything!!

My favorite place to meet up with friends before a bike ride across the Golden Gate bridge en route to Sausalito and Tiburon. If you havent biked Paradise Loop, youre missing out! Fill up your water bottles and pump up your tires here and youll be good to go. Lots of free parking. Tons of gear to shop to your sporty hearts delight. Huge amount of bike, running and swimming clothes, gear and accessories. They often have shopping partieis and discounts, so keep an eye out for that. They also have 10% corporate discounts, so remember to ask.

La tienda deportiva tiene una gran variedad de marcas. El estilo casual y la buena atención de los empleados hacen la diferencia. Tiene un espacio para tomar un café y biblioteca en la entrada y varios sofás repartidos por la tienda que permiten un descanso.

Great place for all your sporting goods needs! This place is huge and offers plenty of items as well as rentals for many sports, ski lift tickets, and more! I ended up going here because the Bryant St. location did not have the item I wanted in my size. I ended up coming here to pick up those bright snow pants and found a matching jacket in my size (see pictures). And they both came with a 30% discount! With my Basementeer membership, I got another 10% off! Cant be beat! And the staff here is friendly and helpful!

Hard not to love Sports Basement, Lots of free parking Prices that beat any other retailer 10% Discounts for just about everyone Huge selection of items for almost every sporting need Free Classes , check your local store and their website This is the only place I ever buy Sneakers and Casual Shoes. I can come here and never feel like I am being ripped off or that I need to wait until there is a sale. Never went back to the mall for sneakers or a major chain sports store after finding Sports Basement.

This location is a little bit off the beaten path - which is part of the charme. Given the abundance of sports gear outlets in San Francisco (and the recent closure of Sports Authority), this store is one of the last retail stores of its kind. Snow gear for the spontaneous trip to Tahoe, running shoes, or surfer equipment - pretty sure youll find your stuff here. And after spending too much $$$ there you can reward yourself with a quick hike along Crissy Field and the Golden Gate Bridge.
