I went in for the 1st time yesterday looking for a map. They had a good selection but not the one I wanted of a rather obscure area. Beyond that, the store albeit small compared to a BIG BOX was really what I like to see. Well stocked w/good selection. The selection is worth mentioning because their offering quality gear at an affordable price. You can shop at a box store and buy cheaper stuff but thats what youll end up with. When Im out in the middle of nowhere, counting on my gear the last thing I want to think about is whether or not itll hold up and lets face if your gear fails out there it might be a lot more than a minor inconvenience!!!

This is a great place to go for outdoor gear. They usually have a sale rack or two for out-of-season clothing. The building isnt quite large enough to be a replacement for REI but you can definitely get your Essentials here and the staff are very knowledgeable about what selection they do have. They have absolutely done the best they can with the room that they have got, and I would love to see them expand or open another location someday.

Great local outdoor shop. All the staff are friendly and knowledge. On top of that, you can see they are enthusiastic about the outdoors and helping you find what you will need. They have a large selection for the size of their store, and what they dont have, they are happy to order for you. Ive ordered climbing shoes, mountaineering boots, glacier glasses, and much more, and every time it was exactly what i needed.

This new-ish store in downtown Salem has some familiar outdoor brands mixed with others not normally found here, like Outdoor Research and ArcTeryx . The inventory featured a good selection of coats, shoes, sandals, gloves and camping and climbing necessities. The clearance rack had good values.

I stumbled upon this store and now I go back on purpose... especially on Friday afternoons and to visit the dog behind the counter! Great advice for novices, wonderful perpetual sale rack in back. We need expert resources like this in Salem. Please stay in business ... pretty please.

In a new location now with much more space and inventory. Great service and a selection of items that are hard to find elsewhere. You can also rent a variety of equipment here including backpacks, snowshoes, skis and SUP boards.
