My husband and I had a small emergency and needed a little cash to help out. I went to an establishment that I have had a history with in the past thinking they would help out a loyal customer with a loan. But the minute I walked in with my collectable doll set I knew immediately they werent interested. It did not matter to them that I had never failed to lose anything in pawn. It did not matter to them that I was a regular. All they were concerned about was having a hard time selling my items should they have to. After pleading to them that there was no way I would not come back for my dolls, I was reluctantly given a very low offer. I didnt take it of course and left feeling disappointed and angry that they didnt seem to want to work with me. While looking on the web we came across California Loan & Jewelry and decided to give them a call. After explaining what we had and without ever having seen them, my husband was made an offer that was not only fair, but was more money than what my regular place offered. We couldnt believe it and were sure something would go wrong. To our pleasant surprise it didnt and they couldnt have been more helpful. Everyone greeted us as we came in, and quickly got us the cash that we so badly needed. There was no hesitation with the dolls and I truly appreciate the interest they showed in them. My husband and I highly recommend this place if you have a cash emergency. You will be treated with respect and fairness in a clean environment with a very friendly and kind staff. Thank you California Loan & Jewelry for helping us when those other guys wouldnt.

I went in to CA Loan and Jewelry to get a loan on some gold jewelry that I had lying around the house. This was the first time I had been into a pawn shop, but with the price of gold now days I figured it was worth a shot. When I entered the store I was greeted by the friendly staff and questioned as to what they could help me with. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the shop and positive attitude of the employees. After a brief discussion about the history of my jewelry, we started hashing out numbers. I was expecting a ton of haggling, but my expectation never came true. Instead, they offered me a fair price and I accepted on the spot. I think I got a great deal from this shop and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get rid of old jewelry they dont wear anymore. I turned in some old cufflinks and a ring and got a couple hundred dollars cash. Thanks for the quick cash California Loan and Jewelry!!

I went in to Pawn a 1.5 KT gold ring. I showed it to a female sales agent and she told me she wasnt sure about how much could be given. So she asked a tall, slim, balding white gentleman over; Im unsure if he is the owner or manager. Nevertheless, Im not sure of his rude disposition but he looked at the ring (did not weigh it or look it up) and claimed very rudely that he wouldnt give 500 for the ring and would probably do 300. So I asked for clarification of his rudeness and he rudely stated"No, I said I wont do 500." I dont know if he was having a bad day or what, but reading the other reviews hes rude to quite a few people; Im curious to know if the people are all of color. My advice go 2 doors down to Best Collateral at 908 J St. and get friendly service and more money for your loan or pawn....I did!

I am the kind of person to pay attention to reviews. So, seeing this store had a glowing reputation, I decided to check it out. My girlfriend was selling a ring she no longer wanted. I already knew we were not going to get anywhere close to retail price for it. He asked us to "name a price" and hed see what he could do to match it. When we didnt, he quoted us a ridiculously low price, with no explanation. However, the worst part is he was rude and condescending about the whole interaction. When we changed our minds and decided to hold on to the ring, he told us on our way out the door that we "werent going to get any better anywhere else" and "youre not going to be able to sell that to anyone." That right there was my biggest issue with the place. He completely FAILED at customer service.

Amongst bastions of last resort, go to any other pawn shop in town first, at least you have a chance of finding someone halfway decent to deal with. I would explain in greater detail, with my very real experiences with these guys, but I would hate to bring this review down to that level of inappropriateness. Everything they have in the store is also WAY overpriced in my humble opinion. For example, beat-up silver rounds at almost 30 bucks is about twice what they should be. (with spot at 13 dollars). They also had 90% old silver rounds at 16 times face (when 10.5 is pricey at the time of this review.) Add to that shady salespeople who can never talk to you straight. Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else.

I stopped by this store while walking downtown and was really really impressed by the stores cleanliness and displays. I also was surprised by the prices so I made a point to come back and shop when I got paid next. I purchased a very nice piece of jewelry that was something Id never afford at another store new. Also, the customer service, they treated me very well and I wanted to come back. Other retailers should take a lesson in treating customers from California Loan and Jewelry. Id recommend them to anyone looking for an original gift or bargain or whatever, because youd get a great deal and be treated great.

Michelle and the team at California Loan & Jewelry are above and beyond FANTASTIC! They have made my wifes engagement ring and wedding band about 2 years ago and we could not be happier with how it came out. I then just decided to add an additional wedding band to it and again the team at CL&J did a impeccable job! I am very particular who I trust with custom made jewelry and I can tell you that I wouldnt go anywhere else. I live almost 100 miles away in SF but will always make the trip to Downtown Sacramento to work with the great people and quality they provide!

In the past year I have purchased several items from California Loan and Jewelry. I have gotten terffic deals. When you enter thir store right away they make you feel welcome. Plus they never put pressure on you to purchase something. If you ask for their opinion they give you an honest one. Its like they dont try to push anything on you. They want you to happy with what you buy while in the store and when you get home. I have brought several of my friends there and they also were very pleased with the service. I would definietly recommend them.

If I could give 0 stars I would. They didnt even look up how much my item is being sold for properly and lied to my face about its worth. My item sells for an average of over $400 used. They wouldnt even make an offer and told me the item sells for at most $150. Scam artists plain and simple. I was hoping for a decent offer...they couldnt even do that. Someone needs to slap some sense into those clowns. No wonder I saw multiple people walk out of there within the short time I was there. Idiots.
