We were traveling through from Austin, Texas and are spoiled with exceptional local grocery stores and cafés. Well, this Safeway is an exceptional market in the area of Monterey, CA; a most welcoming place, even with all the posh overpriced neolib businesses in the Pebble Beach area... Samantha in the Deli was so helpful to assist us with a simple food travel request and so was her manager Mr. Nuñez. Even better is the cozy café area they have near the Starbucks (also inside the store), not just the Starbucks dining area but the super chill lounge opposite of it that even includes basic WiFi (though it could definitely use a speed boost - only 1.5Mbps down / 0.5Mbps up). In short, I highly recommend this Safeway as a very cool place with great deals on excellent salads, sandwiches and food from the hotbar (some 50% off), plus super friendly service!

Cramped. Poor selection. No clerks. 18 people in line with one register open, and nobody responding to P.A. calls for assistance. This isnt a one-off, Im local and this happens *every* visit. The only reason Im ever at this location is because my parents live in PG and I live near the location by Del Rey Oaks. Park in their lot and walk 150 feet down the sidewalk to Trader Joes.

Very busy store. The "busy" took over the atmosphere. I was looking for Bridgeford Frozen bread dough. Once I exhausted looking through the frozen food isles I asked an employee who was very helpful. He looked up the product and then was able to direct me to the correct shelf. The store was out of the product. I was able to find the product at the Lucky Market in Seaside.

My rating is based on a single experience: they had probably the slowest sandwich maker. Waited 32 minutes to be exact for 3 sandwiches. And they were out of everything. Tried to get a philly cheese sandwich, they only had steak and cheese. They were even out of bread that its made with.

This is a small store that caters to locals so doesnt have items commonly found in other Safeway. I.e. golden delicious apples, cold press concentrated coffee and half gallon sherbet. In some ways like a mini whole foods. Brands tend to be a little new age

Very small, cramped Safeway. The produce section is good, but seafood consists mostly of frozen fish, or some previously-frozen farmed seafood from Norway - not the best selection on seafood. Everything else seems fairly standard

No bakery, small aisles. Customer service lacking, no greetings from the cashier. Barely a peep to tell us how much we owe. I get the amount is listed on the little credit card scanner, but try speaking from time to time.

My quick stop for common items. Dont expect them to carry much but the basics as they are limited for space, but I can always get in and out for milk, produce or a treat in less than 10 minutes. Friendly staff.

A neighborhood Safeway within walking distance from DLI and MIIS. Rather pricey for out-of-towners but probably not by local standards. I have sometimes found products to be mislabeled or mispriced.
