About a month ago,after a two hours walk, I stopped at the store to get my groceries for dinner, as I was leaving, I realized I locked my keys,my phone,and my house keys inside my car; I didnt have money to call an uber,no house keys, I asked someone for a ride, but most likely?...he thought I was crazy LOL! And I didnt get a ride,so I went inside the supermarket and beg the employees not to call a towing truck; they were so nice,they promise they wouldnt do,so I took off on foot uphill David street,under the rain, about fifteen blocks to see if someone was home,so I can get my spare key, but unfortunately? ...no one was home,but some how I managed to get in the garage and found the spare key for my car! I walked down hill happy that I have the spare key in my hands, but for some reason when I got to my car...it didnt work. I walked inside the supermarket, and all the employees were so eager to help!! An ex employee allowed me to use her cell to look up my insurance companys phone number, another employee allowed me to use the store phone to call to set up a rescue plan...to send someone to open my car for me, and when another employee saw me seating on the cement?...he came out with a chair in his hand to make sure I was comfortable. I truly want to thank everyone at the store for going out of their ways to help me;I want all of you to know that I truly appreciate what you did for me that cold rainy night! Thank you! Its amazing to meet wonderful people who would go the extra miles to help others. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

All I can say is, check each item you buy for expiration dates. I had a canned item before I noticed was outdated, and let it slide. But this last trip, I had 4 items outdated. Four seperate items, in various sections. Milk, sausage, applesauce, and rolls. The applesauce was FIVE YEARS expired. Yes, thats right... its 2011, and when I noticed the date, I had to look twice. It was expired in 2006. Thats unacceptable! I had already thrown the sausage out (which was a sale item, by the way... so it makes me assume they were going through plenty of stock, unlike a canned good or sauce or something that I could see sitting on the shelf a little longer... it also made me wonder if they werent purposefully putting that item on sale), but I did return with the milk, and the cashier acted very cavelier about it. Her comment was "Oh, theyre usually pretty good about that." No apology, and from my experience, no, theyre not pretty good about it. If youre gonna shop here, my only advice is to check each item. It seems a hassle to me to have to look at every item, since that should be their job, but Ill admit, there isnt a lot of choice when it comes to grocery shopping in this small town. Still, from now on, Ill be paying a bit more at the Grove to ensure quality.

I am new to the area and find that the Nob Hill, in Alameda, is a better functioning store. I am disappointed in the fruit and vegetable area. The fruit is expensive and not always a delight to the eyes. I think, the space is small for the store and therefore, it seems crowded and not pleasant to shop in. The check out clerks, are very nice and, that counts for a lot. However, I dont enjoy my visits there as much as I did, at the Alameda Store. Still and all, I will still frequent the Nob Hill, here in Monterey.

Im very disappointed to hear this store will become a Safeway. Nob Hill carries many vegan items that Lucky/Safeway dont, at good prices. And their rewards program is far superior, with great coupons targeted at stuff I actually buy. This sucks. Thanks a lot, landowner. Theres already a Safeway in PG and another in Del Rey Oaks. The next closest Nob Hill is all the way in Salinas. I dont have time to drive all the way there just for grocery shopping.

This place is fancy and has slightly higher prices than a Safeway, but it is centrally located and great for your stay in town. There is quick access from the Monterey Bay aquarium to pop in and grab a snack for your young one or supplies for a nice picnic down the bike path/beach. The premade food is always hot and fresh.

I always feel some weird Aura in this place its kind of a tourist trap because its right near the Aquarium and the people that work there always seemed kind of strange I dont know how to describe it but I would rather go up the hill to Luckys any day and Luckys has better prices.

Pretty cool little store. Just youre average grocery store. Not to expensive considering its in a tourist trap location. They also have some pretty cool sodas to try out if youre into cool drinks. They have one brand called "Dang" thats just awesome.

I bought some salad dressing two days ago, on Friday. I didnt heck the package but ON Sunday , right before adding it to my salad i noticed that it was expired. So yeah, the place seems alright except that theyre selling expired food.

Solid store with great selection of staple foods and more specialized items. Good deli too. Their craft beer selection is also quite good and they frequently run a buy 3 six packs get the 4th for 1cent special.

Great supermarket with friendly staff. Its got the local family market feel, with the big store name and good prices. The deli here is exceptional. Ive never had a better sandwich than the ones they make here.
