Sorry this review came late although I was busy. There is not a lot of choices in renting scooters in Los Angeles, I got a great deal at Route 66 Modern Classics at $66 a day I got to rent a Buddy 125 scooter from route 66 modern classics last weekend, its among the best scooters I rented. It has turn signals that make ticks to remind that its on without looking at the penal, on top of that four way flashers(the first I see on a scooter), a electric and a kick starter(in the unlikely event the electric fails), a storage box on back in addition to underseat storage, a godsend for traveling with items around or going to the beach. It also have a easy normal kick stand in addition to a rocker stand which is actually easy to use compared to some scooters. The scooter is also quite powerful as well it can easily merge into and keep up with traffic quite crucial in crazy LA. I get to bypass traffic jams and park next to the door of places or next on streets closest to the beach. While the Buddy Scooter they rented out is nice. What i am not a fan of the place is the human relations when regards to reservations and responding to inquires from phone or email. While this place had some good reviews there are some negative ones as well and its understandable. What this place can improve is phone manners. I never had a call or email responded ever if the phone is not picked up either because the store is closed or the staff is unable to come to the phone due to other customers or for any other reason. I like to suggest phone etiquette is also a important part of customer service. If customers leave a message it should be replied to and when picking up the phone one should talk in a pleasant demeanor. That said When I called to confirm my reservation at 10:30am sunday morning a half hour before my verbal 11 am agreement with the owner for the Buddy 125 I was kind of stunned by the somewhat angry response he said "What time is it now!!!" I said ten said ten thirty." He said wait till eleven, though I asked is the scooter ready yet so I can set off and pick it up. He shouted loudly "Wait till eleven," To get to route 66 store I ride a taxi and I dont want to make an empty run again wasting my time and money, he said "I said wait till eleven then call!!!" I was startled by this kind of response I almost decided to give up renting from this place fearing it could get worse if anything happens. I suggest in this case a better appropriate response is I will call you when the scooter gets in so you can pick it up for rent so you wont make an empty run this is how a good store should respond to a customer inquiry by phone. Being working in the service industry myself I learned having an attitude to someone who is going help to put bread on your table is not good for doing business. Another thing is that I would like it if the deductible insurance policy is put down in paper and not verbally stated. The owner stated there is a $500 deductible for damage on the scooter though this is not put on the contract. So if something really happens I dont know if there is any credibility or accountability that my liability is capped at $500 and not the cost of the whole scooter if not worse. Fortunetely I returned the scooter without incident nor extra charges and the owner was glad to see me back. He is a nice guy when in person. I really like Frank though he is very helpful in explaining about motorcycles and scooters and patiently showed me how the scooter worked. In conclusion I would recommend this place to others only if the insurance deductable policy is put in writing in the contract and phone/email etiquette improves.

Absolutely HORRIBLE, we had nothing but drama with the used ET4 we bought from them. We bought it in January and after 4 weeks it starts shutting off in mid traffic. So we bring it in to get it looked at, they check it out, do a few things and tell us everything is ok. Not 5 days later we drive it from MDR to Manhattan Beach and it dies in mid ride on a 5 lane road (Sepulveda at LAX), SCARY!!!! We manage to get it back to Route 66 and explain the problem... I told the one guy how scary that was to be in mid traffic sourounded by cars, that are zippin by you at 50mph, almost getting hit, and he proceeds to tell me "Oh we all know we take a risk when we ride"..... Hello???? WTF? We brought this thing in for a service for this issue, you told me its fine and let me go on my merry way. After a long back and forth with the owners and the manager and some serious talk they finally agree to fix it..... Scooter runs fine for a couple months. So this past Friday we bring it in for a service, check the sparkplugs and change the bulb on the headlight.... we pick it up in the afternoon. Everything seems to be ok, they tell us the scooter runs fine..... NOT SO MUCH! The next day, my husband tries to ride it to work and guess what it DIES! Not even a spark, nothing, complete and utter electrical meltdown! We call them, they pick it up and after a while someone calls and tells us, that we have a short somewhere, but they cant find it and need to do diagnostics......... HELLO??? didnt you just do a service yesterday??? How come its worse after we bring it in..... TO top it off, my husband gets there today to pick it up, they want to charge us $50. for the tow..... This is seriously wrong...... Never ever will I do business with them again. I rather eat dogpoop!

This review is solely targeted at the SERVICE DEPT. and my all in all customer experience. The original owner purchased through Route66. The Genuine Stella I now own had under 1k miles when a few things failed. He offered to have them worked on as part of the soon-to-expire warranty before I titled/registered the bike over. (This is a truncated summary. A full summation of my experience is on Yelp.) ----------------------------------------------- Quick summary: -Six (6) weeks to tend to a few paltry things (speedomoter replacement, brake light fail, squeaky front brake, blinking check engine light) when initially given a guesstimation of a couple of weeks; -They only fixed 2 out of 4 cited things; -No one thought to even explain the fixes, no slip of paper, nada. Some random just handed me the guys and walked off. -Awful/horrendous/unconscionable lack of communication at every step of the way - And this is the item that irks me more than anything. Act like you CARE! Youre the one getting paid, are you not?! I shouldnt have to call and call again at every missed delivery date asking whats up, which is basically the process of dealing with them in a nutshell, me driving the thing along seemingly. -A laissez faire attitude as soon as it seems youre not in there to buy a bike. (Did I catch them on a bad day?) Ill stick to SCOOTER DYNASTY in DTLA for all of my Genuine Stella needs. These guys seem too aloof to be taken seriously. But maybe when you buy/rent a ride, their attitude perks up a bit.
