I made an appointment for my surface pro 3, which died completely out of the blue not even 2 years old by this point but out of warranty. After the restore failed several times the people in the store essentially gave up and told me the solid state drive was dead, and policy was to pretty much tell me to screw myself. they were going to charge me $450 to send me another refurbished surface with no guarantee that the same thing wouldnt happen again. the store employees either really didnt care or had seen so many of these to them disposable computers that they really didnt care to even work with me to try to fix it. every time we tried to restore the image it got further and further 33% 45% 66%, and then they just kinda gave up on me. I should be clear that I have treated this surface like an infant, Ive never dropped it or so much as breathed heavily on to it yet here I was with a $1500 door stop and my only option was to pour more money into this already sunk cost. I have been a Microsoft fan boy my whole life but yesterday Microsoft lost a die hard lifelong customer, I will never buy anything from Microsoft again, not hardware not software. I took my $1500 paper weight home and on a whim I tried to install Ubuntu Linux on this slab of magnesium and miraculously IT WORKED. "youre solid state is dead" they said, "youre only option is to pay us $450" they said, well screw you guys my next computer will be a mac since at least they can service their products and not build them out of glass and glue. I expected a high level of service with this price tag $1500 ($200tax 130typecover 1200 surface pro 3 i5) and you guys failed so hard, you left me with no recourse and I will never forgive you.

Im currently on a business trip from NJ. Over the weekend, I installed a manufacturer released firmware which bricked my 2000+ USD Laptop. (thank you razer) Apparently, this is a known issue for this firmware update, I tried everything I can do to fix it but with no success. I called Microsoft sales support and explained my situation, and they instructed me to bring it into closest MS store and theyll do a courtesy exchange on my laptop. I purchased a MS protection plan at the time of purchase. I wanted to make sure what I heard was correct, so I asked again and support assured me this will be done. She even checked the stock status for me and told me to go to specific store. So all excited I took uber for 30 minutes to go to MS Store. I explained to them my situation and made an appointment to have my laptop diagnosed. After waiting 30 minutes after my appointment time. I was told this will not happen. The manager simply turned me down, saying its out of 30 day return period, wouldnt even try to hear my explanation. Wasted 2+ hours and 35 USD. A day later I called MS sales support again, and they were puzzled and told me this should not have happened. They helped me setup another appointment back where I purchased the laptop from. Its sad how untrained Manager at this location is. If you are trying to make a purchase, go ahead sales staff seemed very nice, but dont expect the manager or supports staffs help when you need it, I wouldnt be surprised if they were working at circuit city before.

Ok, before I begin my review I would first like to suggest everyone to not call customer service! Whenever you have a problem with your product go to the store in person. Almost every call center for any big corporation is crappy and this is no exception. The store doesnt have a call desk the number you see leads you to a call center that has nothing nobody from the brick and mortar store. Ok moving on to my experience in the ms store. First, the store has some amazing setups such as oculus VR and triple monitor setups powered by alienware pcs. They have xbox one setups that you can play on the tv or the dozens of screens that are mounted on the walls of the store. If you check their website every now then they have classes and xbox lans for anyone to signup. I remember back when I took my little cousin here. He refused to leave the store after playing minecraft on vr for the first time ever. Another advice dont bring kids here especially if you have a movie screening soon :( Also, I dont know why people hate their services so much as my experience was great. I recently went there to get my dell xps 15 exchanged after it showed signs of overheating. After a few days of waiting I managed to get it exchanged for a razer blade laptop under microsofts complete coverage. Another advice always get ms complete when buying a pc its a must! Overall great store and staff! This is the last good electronics/game store that is left in century city.

I was waiting couple years to purchase surface pro since i heard it was going to come out. Feb9th on launch date, one of the two microsoft store in the whole area, surface pro was sold out in first hour. line was short, just didnt have enough stock to sell accordingly on launch date. Disappointed, put my name on waiting list and was told to wait for the call. since I was 41st on line was expecting to get the call soon. Monday Feb11th visited the store on 10:00AM, was told from one rep that the stock is there, and she will review the waiting list and was told to be waited. rep showed the list and it showed 39th person got the call and all the stocks are reserved for people who was on list ahead of me. Manager of the store was rude and wasnt trying to help. She just told me since your on the next of the list you will definietely get the call very soon! Feb12th called the store explained the situation and was told will be contacted. Feb13th called the store explained the situation and was told that i will be contacted. Feb14th called the store explained the situation was told that i will be contacted. Feb15th called the store and found out they called wrong number, skipped and all the next people on the line already took and i will have to wait for next shipment. Very disappointed by the clumsy launch of anticipated product, and the poor level of service and punctuality.

DO NOT UPDATE TO WINDOWS 10.!!!! EVEN THE EMPLOYEES AT THE STORE SAY THERE IS PROBLEMS. Tech at the store are 50% great and 50% dont know what they are doing. Phone support is sub standard, operators hang the phone up once they answer, if you can get through. This is the worst experience an upgrade that should have taken 1-2 hours after 4 guys in the store confirmed took 3 days and loss of years of data even after data recovery. MICROSOFT should be ashamed of their retail unprofessional amateur service has caused me hours of trying to reconstruct and with horrible phone support. I spend 4 hours in the store to be given parking reimbursement for 3 hours and still had to pay. I was told to bring my charger cord back took me an hour and half to go home and bring it back only to be told they didnt need IT. The sad thing is there are great friendly employees who are working for a inferior corporate structure, I dont care how large Microsoft is, The FREE upgrade cost me hours of aggravation, hang up phone support, unnecessary trips to and from the store and hour on hour to reconstruct loss files not to mention a slower performing computer. In todays technological world Microsoft my experience is totally unacceptable, and even your own employees agree!
