I was appalled at the register checking out today when I was asked to give my birthdate outloud to the cashier named Sara Boston. I shook my head no. She said did I not want to purchase the two bottles of wine and the other two items and I said yes I did. I proceeded to show her my identification instead of stating my age out loud. She embarrassed me by questioning my desire to buy the wine and then further humiliated me by blurting out my birthdate for everyone to hear. This I believe is private information and I did felt embarrassed and appalled. I asked her to let me speak to her manager as she did not see any problem with what she had done. She did not go and get her supervisor. I had to find the Lead Supervisor, Joey Becker. Joey further escalated the rudeness by telling me that it was California Law. I repeated that I provided my ID and she rudely told me that she herself was not embarrassed by her age. I received no kindness, no apology, no acknowledtgement. I am 62 YEARS OLD! I was with a friend from Europe and there was no need for the abuse and public disclosure of my age!!!!!!! Obviously I am not under 21 years of age. Please everyone take care to keep your personal information private. I will be writing to headquarters about this event. I have been shopping here for 40 years. There is no California Law that states you must have your age told to everyone around you. I feel disrespected and disgusted.

Im not really sure why most folks go to Cost Plus these days, but rather than dwell on the negative, heres what makes it worth shopping... 1. Candy. If youre into nostalgic, or foreign candy, you cant go wrong. 2. Odd foods. Youll find an amazing selection of the odd and the unusual here. Most of it British, but all of it interesting. 3. Wine. The place does have a nice selection of wine, and is usually staffed by someone knowledgeable. 4. Kitchen stuff. Youd be surprised by just how much they offer and at reasonable prices. 5. Coffee & tea. The place offers a good selection of coffee pots, brewers and beans. Im not so sure the beans are all that fresh, but there are plenty to choose from. Goes as well for their tea offerings.

I needed to purchase a rice paper floor vase and was told that I could find it at World Market Cost Plus. I located an associate that immediately did everything she could to help me and then she contacted Joey, the store manager and Joey went beyond all expectations to help me locate the item which is no longer available but she found it in two other store locations in which she called the store to see if they had the one indicated by the computer. That particular store did not but the other store did and she told me that she would pick it up as it is near her home and have it for me by Thursday. Amazing customer service and management.

Worst. Customer. Service. Ever! I was shopping for a new lamp shade and I was having a hard time finding the right size. I tried to return and EXCHANGE the second lamp shade for a third one. The hostile cashier was downright rude to me from the get go. He wouldnt allow me to exchange the lampshade because the receipt did not have a sku # on it. He called the manager and she didnt even come talk to me. Working in the service industry, I have never been so appalled in my life.

Ran into Cost Plus today in Larkspur, CA. Very young girl at the Register was Not only Snippy she was Very Rushy. Poor Communication and her Attitude was God Awful. Not an Easy Experience... Not even close. I shop at this store Regularly and Never ever dealt with Rudeness. Not a Experience i hope to have again. Please, Hire people who are 12 or younger. 35 and Over.

One of the original Cost Plus World Market locations in the greater Bay Area (the shopping center plaza is even named after it). This store is deceptively large once you get inside, and things are well organized throughout. As with other World Market stores, you can expect to find a lot of products you wouldnt see elsewhere.

A good range of products and decent wine department. The parking here is easier than the ones in the city. There are more staff than customers most of the time so its always easy to get help.
