Racist racial profiling. I totally agree with the person who wrote that this Bed Bath & Beyond is a bad place for ethnic people. I was there on 11/2/13 looking for plates for large pillar candles. I looked around and around the candle area and saw nothing that suited my large pillar candles. So I just looked at the glass ones I saw available in a 4 pack and tried to decide if those werent too small. Well, I veered over to my left and I saw this young Caucasian man about 57" and brown hair acting as if he were stocking the shelf just around the corner (which was like less than 3 ft. away.) He wasnt there 4 minutes ago. He looked shocked and guilty when I spotted him. I asked him to help me find larger plates for my candles. He scurried around the other corner of the shelf and showed me. They were on the lower shelves almost covered by other items. And the funniest thing happened! After I picked up my large pillar plates he just so happen to leave the little shelves the had been supposedly stocking and flew off to another part of the store. Wow, what a coincidence! It was such b.s. Apparently these people think candle accessories are such high class items, I mean it does cost $12 for 3 metal pillar plates. I assume that they saw I was Latina and just thought that candle accessories were just way beyond my socioeconomic status. This isnt the first time Ive experienced racial profiling at this store. In summer 2012, I walked in to spend about $50-$100. I didnt know on what though. I just thought I would brows around until something caught my eye. You know, an activity known as "shopping". So I walked around the store and noticed an African-American man of athletic build appear in the same 3 places I was within a 7 minute period of time. Finally, I just looked at him as if to say "what" and then in almost a police officer type tone with the police type accusatory stare he said, "Yes, how are you?" The words were friendly but the mans voice, demeanor, and eye contact were meant to intimidate and show suspicion. He wasnt carrying a basket and he didnt have any items in his hand. He looked like a nightclub doorman and talked like and arresting officer, so I doubt he was trying to pick up on women. He was security sent to bust the Latina for shoplifting because thats what this store assumes is in the Latina dna. I remember leaving just putting down my basket in the aisle and walking out with my $100. Then today I come back and get watched as a shoplifter all for 3 candle pillar plates. I have to admit, when I walked into the store, a few of the workers looked at my as if to say, "what the ......?" Then when the cashier rang me up she didnt wrap any of the metal pillar plates. I was distracted by looking towards some sale items so I didnt notice that she had just thrown them in the bag. Then when I got in the car I hear the metal bang loudly together. I just hoped that they werent scratched. Seriously, the cashier doesnt know how to wrap metal items. I would like to think that the 18 year old, Caucasian girl with pulled back hair and lots of rings that rang up my purchase was just really not that bright and forgot to wrap my items. But given the racial profiling and the racist attitude this store demonstrates, I cant help but think that this girl just didnt wrap my items because she didnt like Latinas either. This place is awful

TOTALLY agree with Christine Barela, they seem to treat people of other races, especially Hispanic, like we just entered their store to shoplift, my mother & I were there for like 20 minutes & got asked by the same employee about 4-5 different times if we "needed help" finding anything, after politely declining her "help" she still had the need to be in every single isle we were in "fixing" the shampoo, conditioner bottles, etc...." just placing them closer to each other, turning them around so the label was facing to the front, basically doing things that didnt need to be done but NEVER turning hear head or eyes away from us. My mom is usually a very kick back person doesnt usually pay attention to things like that but even she said "why does this lady keep following us?" When we got up to the cashier, a blonde teenager with hair pulled back (probably same person), never a greeting not even a simple hi. She just took our items passed them thru the register literally threw them in the bag only words we heard from her were the total. Paid her got my bags from behind the bagging counter, she didnt even bother to place them on top of the counter so I could reach them. Never heard a "thank you" "bye" or anything resembling appropriate customer service. Their prices on some items are "ridiculously high" you see the item & know you can get it elsewhere for half their price. They have nice things I just think they need a refresher course in customer service & dont assume EVERY Latino is there to steal.

I had the chance recently to compare this BB&B to one in another state. What an eye opener! I had always taken the excellent customer service that Ive received in the Fresno store for granted. Not any more! I was in the day after Black Friday and the store was pretty busy. However, at least 4 associates and the manager asked me if I needed help finding anything. It was awesome! Thank you Fresno BB&B!

This was one of our primary sources when we were building our new home. Plenty to choose from 10 years ago. Not as much within the last two years, though. We continue to shop here, wish the selections were like those of the Woodland Hills Facility. Love the coupons!!!! The service is usually with a smile. Im glad that this store is here in Fresno.

I use to work there for many years. As a Hispanic female working there, we were never told to follow latina women around or sent "security" after anyone. We are trained to ask the customer if they need help everytime and some employees only work in one section of the store. And never once met any racist employee there. Lol

This store is in a very good location near lots of shopping. You can find any kitchen gadget you can think of, sign up for a bridal registry, or find cool stuff to hang on your walls. They let you use expired coupons here so I make sure I always keep one in my purse. The employees are very helpful and friendly.

This store is great. I dont know what all these ppl are saying that they racially profile people as shoplifters. Seems people are unknown to good customer service. Or theyre actually trying to be thieves because their welfare and unemployment checks only get them so far.
