Have always had good experiences here but today was a different story. I asked for a transfer of a few 16 foot boards from Anaheim to the Costa Mesa store. Was told I could drive up and get them in Anaheim but since they cant guarantee the quality they dont want to request a transfer. When I asked for them to do it anyway I was told to go and check the stock in Anaheim first. In essence, they refused to request the transfer. He said I could have Anaheim deliver for $60. What is the point of having a Ganahl Lumber in Costa Mesa if I have to drive to Anaheim anyway. So frustrating.

Having frequented the Los Alamitos location for years, I have found the paint department in Costa Mesa incompetent by comparison. Not only are they frequently out of the most common base paint type in 1 pint sizes (great for sampling), but the staff is disconnected and aloof. Most of the things in Ganahl you can get at Home Depot for less. This location needs to understand why people come here: its the specialty products like Benjamin Moore paint - these areas need to be serviced better.

I stopped by because my contractor recommended this place. Its a nice shop, but they did not carry the wood baseboards style I wanted. They had to refer me to another store out of the area. Ugh. No offers to have the stuff delivered to me or schedule for later pick-up at this store. I guess thats not in Ganahls customer service policy.

They know why their here and they serve contractors well. They also have things you cant get at Home Depot or Lowes. And dont forget about the attached lumber yard.

Just thought I would point out that Ganahl is open on Sundays from 9-5, the "Hours" listed above are incorrect.

The staff is usually very helpful and friendly, and there is a good selection of lumber to browse through.

Convenient when I need an item or two and dont want the hassle of driving an extra 5 minutes to the HD.

Dont ask for help at the counter. They want YOU to do all the work. Lowes has better customer service
