If purchasing a vehicle from the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store on 99th Avenue and the I-10 isn’t heaven, then I don’t want to die. The experience of purchasing and picking up my Acura RL from the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store was so smooth that it could have been choreographed by Beyoncé. In an uncertain world, where any day can bring tragedy, heartbreak or a winning lottery ticket, the opportunity of knowing anything of the future, even if it’s that I can have an outstanding vehicle purchasing transaction at CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store is to be embraced. I had no prior reason to expect that the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store employed only the pure of heart and had a well-intentioned staff whose expressions melted into the smiles of someone in a TV commercial featuring cute little kids frolicking with kittens. The staff managed the transaction with the urgency and professionalism of a grade-school principal conducting a fire drill and got me into a new Acura RL with the peppy spirit of a cruise director. I realize that not everyone will purchase an Acura as their own vehicle - my Grandpa once told me that if everyone wanted the same thing, everyone would be chasing Grandma. The management of the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store evidently cherishes original thought with a passionate focus on execution as I was liberated from any expectations of failure at anytime during my purchase. Now, as I drive around in the Valley of the Sun in my Acura RL which I purchased from and financed through the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store, I realize that it is more than just a simple vehicle; it’s a metaphor of something else: perhaps trust or freedom, or faithfulness, or joy, or any of the other things that a happy customer in a great vehicle can symbolize. My life now flows copiously and with great florid touches; I’m figuratively skipping through meadows bursting with ubiquitous, picturesque, thriving flowers while iridescent butterflies dance through the air to the sweet songs of larks and robins and blue-birds and bright yellow warblers and the bees are making better honey and the world is a place of rejoicing thanks to my new Acura RL from the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store. A new vehicle, obtained from the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store, is a subsidiary Deity designed to catch the overflow and surplus of the world’s worship. I’m as happy with my new vehicle from the CarMax Phoenix-West Valley store as would be a nine-year-old urchin who’d just gotten a pony for Christmas.

My aunt and I were pre-approved for a car loan with an outside company and they had called us to tell us that we had a scheduled appointment at 7pm at this Carmax dealership. We did arrive about 2 hours early and had told the receptionist that we had an appointment. He looked and told us that there was no appointment scheduled at 7 under the name we had given. We thought it was odd but we decided to wait about 30 minutes for the next available consultant. I gave him my cell number so that they can call us while we were on the lot looking at cars. We must have been out there for 45 min to an hour and I had my phone out and at high volume while I was constantly checking to see if they were ready for us. I decided to check my email and had it right there in my inbox that we had an appointment at 7. We walked back up to the receptionist and told him and this other guy that we did have an appointment. They claimed that they had been calling us for a while and the other guy said that he just called me. This was a lie. They also mentioned that they "had people out looking for us on the lot." This was a complete lie, we were constantly looking towards the doors to see if any of them had come out and exactly what does define "looking for us?" Because we were definitely out there. We decided to leave and were disappointed. There were other people there just standing around talking which kind of makes you think what they were doing because we were not the only ones looking in the lot. Just dissatisfied with the customer service in general and as petty as it sounds they didnt even offer a bottle of water or anything. Wont be going here ever again.

CarMax is awesome. Best car buying experience ever. They don’t chase you around the lot if you are looking, nobody pressures you at all. They make it really comfortable. I have bought many cars in my life. My Sales Associate Ramon was absolutely terrific. I came in on a week night looking at a car on the CarMax website in another state. He explained how I could get the car transferred. I told him I would think it over, and he suggested I come back on the weekend if I was interested. No pressure. Nobody was trying to beat me into submission. To make this short, I found the car I wanted, but it was on the other side of town. Ramon on his day off, where he lives 30 mile form CarMax on the west side of Phoenix, came into work and drove another 40 miles to get my car. CarMax give this guy a bonus. The price of the car I bought was below book. They gave me a really good price for my trade; at book value. They actually make an offer to you in writing, disclosing the offer. No guessing. No games. If you are financing a car, the sales associate will take your information right there and send it out to lenders, and within minutes you will actually get to see for yourself what the offers are from lenders. No games. No little man behind the curtain. No sales manager in a glass tower with his lackey running back and forth playing games with you. No pressure. Just the way it should be. The business office has an associate (admin) complete your paperwork; not some finance guy trying to sell you pin striping for $1000 or some ridiculous platinum plan warranty that costs twice the price of the car, and doesn’t cover anything.

Very good experience, great choice of cars to look at that have been inspected. You can sit in and pre-experience hundreds of cars which gives you ideas for a car you may never have considered. I think they do tend to give low-ball estimates to sellers of cars they cant sell at one of their stores, which is very understandable. (We got an offer we were very happy with on a lower mileage SUV with towing package, and a rather low-ball offer on a 100,000+ car. Some of their policies are very confusing such as the trade-in policy. We could have saved about $1,200 if we had known they do allow "trade-ins." I think what they meant was that the estimate to sellers is totally separate from buying, which removes the mind-games that regular dealers play. I even read their brochure and still got the impression they dont allow trade-ins. The Phoenix area has 4 stores to choose from for free shipping (use 250 mile radius in your search). We were looking for something quite specific: a 2012 modified hybrid Buick LaCrosse, and there was one at the Gilbert store about 40 miles away, and the "Sales Helper" (they are not really traditional pushy salespeople, but very helpful) drove us there in a minivan that needed to go to that store and picked up our Buick. The Sales Helpers have wonderful personalities which reduces the stress, and the back office removes the hassle factor for completing the purchase or sale of a used vehicle.
