This was the second place I went with my ring that I wanted to liquidate. My first stop was a certified GIA Gemologist and an appraiser of 35 years. The Appraiser set my ring value at around $500. The Appraiser wasnt interested in buying it because she deals mostly in antiques. Another customer said go to a pawn shop or ED Marshall. I thought that theres no way a pawn shop could do more than a jeweler that buys gold, so I went to the Avondale location of ED Marshall. The lady that looked at my ring took a quick look at it through a loupe and weighed it. Having gotten an appraisal earlier, I was prepared for an offer I could live with. She proceeded to tell me that the stone was plastic, yes she said plastic as she tapped on it with her fingernail. She also told me since the ring had my initials on the side, it was personalized and only good for scrap weight. Ok, at this point I was still feeling ok about selling because I really only expected to get in the neighborhood of $200. The scrap value came out to $295 by weight a couple hours earlier. Her offer to me was $135. Obviously, I had to pass. Time to try a pawn shop. I was convinced that maybe $135 was all Id get. First pawn shop I stopped at took a good look at the ring, did several tests to check the karat? of the gold and obviously weighed it. Guess what I got...... $330 without blinking an eye! Now, I know that this was no 24k high dollar piece, or something that said Patek Philippe on it, but I at least expected to receive the fair consideration any other customer would expect. I dont know if this employee was unknowledgeable, or just flat didnt have any interest in buying, but I would advise anyone selling to carefully consider who you sell to and DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

I have been to the Avondale store and sold some bullion here... I do most of my business in Scottsdale with regards to bullion and numismatics. However with the bullion deals Ive done here the prices have been market value and the people have been very polite and professional. Although I highly recommend the Scottsdale store the Avondale store although less in caliber is still a fine place to conduct business for your numismatic coin and bullion needs.

What a nice little store, great place to pick up a watch or an engagement ring, The go to place in avondale to sell or buy jewelry or watches. They pay well on buying coins but wont sell them just to forewarn if your looking to purchase bullion.
