Ill agree with the March 8th poster - This guy (forgot the name, doh!) is a really good and interesting person who will be happy to help you out. He does not carry a huge inventory and it does appear to be a one man operation. That being said, this man knows his stuff and is happy to share very useful information. This is the kind of place you can go to if you dont have a clue and you will get good advice from someone who is not elitist and wont make you feel foolish or embarrassed. There arent a lot of bike shops in the area, so to have this available is a double blessing. A trip from a few towns over is worth it if you are going here. I am new to the local area, just moved in from Atlanta. I went into this shop to get a neglected bike worked on and to look at a possible upgrade. I gave him my budget and he asked pointed questions about the type of riding I have done and what my goals are. He then showed me a bike that was 50% of my stated budget and related that to spend more would be fun, but I really didnt need to. How often do you encounter this elsewhere? Not very much. Ill keep going back to this shop and suggest that all my friends do too.

Jeff is the greatest-- I havent been back to Dothan in many years-- since the late 80s-- I remember the old shop. I used to spend much time there planning to buy a bike-- and after a long time of saving I bought the very best available then-- the Schwinn Voyageur in emerald green. Jeff bought one for himself, and we fitted the bikes with a sturdier tire. That was the most well-made and beautiful bike I ever had-- it was flawless. I put many hundreds of miles on it. It was eventually stolen from me in Charleston, SC. It sailed along without making a sound. Times have changed a lot-- the American Schwinn is no longer, I guess-- but I really got joy out of that bike! Fuji is a great bike-- and I think Dothan is lucky to have such knowledgeable service. Thinking about that bike led me to Google to find out what happened to Jeff and his shop-- and I can get an idea here. Dont know if he remembers me-- but I certainly remember him-- best sale and service for any bike I ever had. Best wishes!

This guy seems to run a one man show and can get frustrated easily with too many customers. His customer service is less than desirable, but if you can be patient he can give you a good deal. I went to this store with a list of parts I wanted on a bike. The parts I wanted seemed to match a specific make and model of Fuji bike he sells. He tried to sell me a bike that he had in stock and out of my price range, but sticking to my guns, I had to get him to order the bike that I wanted. Be direct and straight to the point with this guy and he can help you get what you want in a bicycle. If you go in and talk to this guy and you do not know that much about bike manufacturers and what they have to offer, you may walk out frustrated. Patience is the key to a successful endeavor when dealing with this store.

We walked in to get our sons mountain bike fixed and to look around for a future move to Europe. The owner was extremely knowledgeable regarding everything we where looking for. He must have spent an hour with us just discussing options. He was very patient with us, considering he had a weeks worth of repairs and tune-ups to work on. By the time we walked out he outfitted my wife and I with two cruisers exactly how we wanted them configured. Not to mention, our sons bike came out of the shop in better shape than it did out of the box. There are experts at their craft and this man is one of them. He has some cool classics in his museum as well.

Went in over the weekend hoping to find a good used bike, that would be good to start commuting to work on. The store owner was very nice and helpful. However he did not have any used bikes and I must admit the new bikes he sells are very nice but currently way out of my price range. I got myself a cheap Huffy from WalMart (insert elitist flames here) its doing what I want, although I must admit Ive had to do some work on it right away to make it road worthy. In any case after a few months of being less of a slave to the gas pump, Ill be headed back to this shop to get myself a nice Fuji commuter hybrid.

Jeff, the owner, is one class act. He knows and loves everything about bikes. He has been incredibly helpful the few times Ive been in the store recently. As the previous poster stated, he will not look at you or speak to you in a way that makes you feel stupid, no matter how stupid your question is. The prices are very good as well, in line with what you might find on the web. But at The Bike Shop, you can touch it before you buy it and know for sure that it will work for you.

Best bike shop for servicing and repairs hands down! Very nice guy and loves to ride and support the community and is usually out riding at an event somewhere on the weekend. Update: does not do fittings on bikes apparently so if youre looking for that go to the other bike shop

On a cross country trip i stopped by to get my bike checked out, the owner worked me in his schedule, did outstanding work, better than reasonable prices, gave me a detailed receipt listing work done and explained to me all work accomplished. Very impressive experience.

Jeff runs a very respectable shop with a wide selection of bikes. Really good service and Jeff will do all he can to help you find the right bike or any other bike accessory. Definitely a great place to buy a bike if you are looking for quality, not Walmart bikes.
