September 4, 2013 University Hyundai of Decatur 1211 Beltline Rd SW Decatur, AL 35601 University Hyundai Management and Staff: Its not often that I take the time to draft a letter such as this because, quite frankly, in todays climate and economy I dont often find the opportunity to do so. Today it seems all companies are trying to "do more with less" and customers are treated with less and less "attention", meaning one-on-one relationships are becoming a thing of the past. I am happy to say that is not the case at University Hyundai of Decatur! Over the years we have made multiple car purchases but I can honestly say that this was the BEST car purchase experience we have ever had. Everything from your dealership, your inventory, your staff, and even your service department, made a great impression on us. When making our decision on where to buy we compared your Hyundai dealership to other competitors, and even other Hyundai dealers in the N. Alabama area. After weighing all our research and options it wasnt even a contest, your dealership and staff won hands-down (*a big win considering we drove almost an hour each way to shop and purchase with you)! From our first meeting on the lot with new car salesman Gary Stewart, we knew this was where wed be buying our next vehicle. Although new to your dealership, we could tell Gary had done his homework and he proved to be very knowledgeable about the vehicles we took out for test drives. He was an instant rapport builder and came across very genuine and honest, continuously answering questions and reinforcing that Hyundai is the brand to beat. Being in sales myself, I could tell he was trying to build a relationship for future purchases and referrals, not just a one-time sell. We also had the opportunity to interact with the General Sales Manager, Bobby Petruna. Without question, he is one of the most genuine, easy to speak to salesmen/managers that Ive ever encountered. He listened, he reacted and he solved every question or concern we served up. We honestly felt like "family" rather than just a first time customer. Whether it be recommendations on additional options to meet our needs, offering an opportunity to buy an extended "bumper to bumper" warranty or even a free fill-up when the deal was sealed, he hit all the right buttons and made us feel valued, appreciated and comfortable with the entire transaction. Ongoing we will recommend this dealership and staff without any hesitation to our friends and acquaintances!!!!! We brought our daughter in to shop for a car. Before we ever walked in the building I ask the salesman what makes you different than any other dealer as far as financing. He said we have guarteed approval. We went inside for the process to begin. He came back and said we cant help you. Then we ask why did you say guaranteed approval outside. Then the salesman ask do you have your $1000 down payment cash on you . She said yes . He said well I need to see it. I thought was strange. Then he took the money back to the finance manager. Salesman came back without then cash . Now keep in mind we hadnt even looked at any cars nor made a deal. The longer we sit the more it rubbed us the wrong way. Who does that. I told the salesman how I thought that was out of line. And that if I was buying a car myself I wouldnt be carrying cash for a down payment. So her dad was mad about the situation. He walked to the finance managers office. Told him to give her money to her. When he picked the bank envelope up we had the money in its was empty. Of course we said wheres her money . The finance manager stood up and took the money out of his pocket. We were shocked. In his damn pocket. We hadnt even came close to purchasing a car. And who the hell at a big car dealership ask to see or definitely takes your moneyand pockets it. I am a office manager I deal with big financial purchases on a daily basis. Never would I think of doing anything so tacky. And the facts of the business is we could have bought anything on that lot. We just wanted her to establish her own credit. Now our salesman was very kind and we could tell the whole thing embarrassed him. But if any of the higher ups over that finance manager sees this you need to get rid of him. Customer service is key in your buisness. And that was a tacky very unprofessional way to do business. And I never really do reviews but all I could think of was what if our daughter went alone without us or another person that naively comes in not knowing how to handle a money grubbing jerk like your finance manager. Was a very terrible experience!!!! We wont be back and we will steer anyone thinking about it to run the other way!!! And I had to hit a star or this wont post. One star isnt even deserved !!!

My visit detailed taking my girlfriend daughter 22 and her boyfriend car shopping , They had never bought a car on there own and they wanted me to tag alone with them , So our first visit was the Hyundai Dealership in Decatur, The kids had a budget , and we tried our best to let the Car salesmen aware of the budget , Hands down these guys were super nice , But basically what we found out was on the one car she really liked it was priced 13250.00 for a used car ,, That was a little over her budget and I looked directly to the sales man and told him , aww thats a little too much ,, unless you can work on that price , The salesman states we can work with it ,, and expressed I think we can make it happen , so she gets all excited and we take for test drive ,, We get back in , we go in and she completes a lot of paper work , Her credit score a good strong 752 thats great for a 22 year old ,, A few mins later the car finance manager comes over with all the paper work with the price and what the down payment would be and what the payment was ,, YIKKES The cost of the Car was suppose to be 13250 Plus all the other fees they were charging to get the car back into sellable condition plus lot fees and so on ,, The Car went from what we thought was a debatable 13250 to a almost 16000 car , Keep in mind the sales man was friendly , But How can anyone feel like they are being Honest giving someone a price of a car and then them tacking on a big amount , about 2750 more when we was hoping for and should have been priced less, We left without Buying a Car from these guys ,, I was about to Blow a fuse , But I sucked it up cause I didnt wanna seem like a jerk are a bad influence in front of these kids , Going Home the Kids was very amazed about how deceiving and such crooks they really appeared to be , I hope this review helps someone not make a mistake and overspend and be took for granted like they were trying to do with these 22 year old Kids .
