I was very disappointed in the sales guy I was working with. I am looking at a buying a plus size hard tail to add to my collection and thought I would give Wheel and Sprocket a try based on their excellent reputation in the area. To put this in perspective, I am 6 6" with a 32" inseam, very rarely does a bike shop stock a frame in my size, so I am used to having to order something- I completely understand that my size isnt going to be a hot seller. I was greeted at the door by a sales guy who was very helpful. Since I have never been to this location, I like to under-represent my knowledge about the sport a little bit- asking some basic questions that I know the answer to in order to see how much I trust the sales guy. At first, everything checked out so I told him what I was looking for and we set out to find it in his (very impressive,) large inventory. Everything was going great until he started to tell me that there is no way anyone would need an XL frame and that "I would be better off on a large so that I could really throw my weight around and be more nimble". Coincidently, he didnt have an XL in stock. I couldnt believe it. If I were new to the sport, I might have trusted him, bought the bike, then been completely dissatisfied. Please just be honest with the customer- it really doesnt seem like too much to ask. I am big guy, I understand that retail shops dont cater their inventory to my size--- thats okay! Tell me you will order my size and it will be here in two weeks. Ditch the "used car salesman" facade and sell me something that is going to fit. You are much more than just salesmen; you are in many cases the biggest promoter of the sport. Wheel and Sprocket (Hales Corners Location) has a great inventory that was fun to browse through, but I was extremely disappointed with my experience there. Update: Although I was originally looking for a brand that W&S stocks, I found myself at a competing bike shop that put me on their sizing bike, and i walked out the door with a (an order confirmation for a) 2XL competing brand. I say this to point out how ridiculous it is that he was going to try to sell me a Large.

I really wish I had had the kinds of wonderful experiences that everyone else has had here, but it has been repeatedly bad. They have a great selection of Trek bikes and supplies and in fact I bought my carbon fiber road bike from here 3 years ago, driving from Kenosha to do so. However there is a pretty bad customer service attitude issue here that is obviously continuous if you look at the Yelp reviews. I had to bring my road bike back in because of a problem I was having with the seat post. The younger guy I dealt with in the service department treated me as though I was ruining his oh so important day by making him deal with such an incredibly stupid situation and his overall attitude was condescending and rude. I have run into this before here...including when I actually purchased my bike. I will NEVER go back here again. My parents have had exactly the same experience...young guys who really dont want to deal with middle aged or older people and have a major attitude about it...and they will never go back either.

Horrible customer service. No respect for the customer. I was being totally ignored. I CLEARLY walked up to one of the counters. I patiently waited because one associate was busy with a customer. Two other employees were working on a bicycle behind the counter. Not even a "Hello, sir. Well be right with you." I assumed that they just needed to finish something and they would come right over. I waited over five minutes. Another customer walks up to the counter right next to me. WHAT DO YA KNOW? "Hello, sir. Ill be right with you." They dont even acknowledge me as they assist him. I was helped right after him but I didnt even want to mention what just happened. I just wanted to leave. And what did I notice when I got home? The new tire and tube I purchased to replace the flat WASNT EVEN INFLATED. I dont know why I was treated in such a manner. I think they were just jealous of my rugged good looks. I will never return to this establishment. I purchased my bicycle here but Ill take it somewhere else for a tune up.

If I could give less than one star, I would. I came into the store and there was nobody in the store at all. I didnt even see a salesperson. I started looking at the bikes that were on sale as I was just looking for something to get started on. After seeing a few that I liked at a pretty good price, I was still looking for someone to help me. Another patron came in the store and all of a sudden there were two employees coming toward him; walked right past me on their way!!! Never made a comment like "well be right with you" or "can I help you" ... just kept on walking. Horrible customer service; or should I say non-existent customer service. Will never ever go back in that store; not even if they are giving bikes away for free.

I have bought many bikes from the Hales Corners Wheel and Sprocket. For me, my husband, and my kids. It has always been a great experience and weve always loved the bikes. I bought my latest bike from them in Spring of 2011. The salesman helped me pick out a bike that suited my needs and my budget. Ive also bought many bike accessories and clothes from them. They always have a great selection. Ive also made use of their great service department. When my son was younger and riding his bike everywhere, it seemed to need some sort of repair every year. They have also tuned up our 20+ year old bikes and made them almost as good as new. You cant beat Wheel and Sprocket for sales and service!

Wheel & Sprocket has always provided me with great service. If all Im buying is something as small as nutritional supplement or spare tubes, the staff has always been friendly and interested with what brings me into their store. That alone is what makes them different from other bike shops. Any questions you may have about bikes and the like, theyll be glad to provide an answer to. Ive seen many customer/staff interactions there where the customer pretty much had no clue what they were looking for, but the salesman was patient and willing to work with them to find what they needed. Small things like that give you an idea of how much value they put into their customers.

First time at this location and went here because I neededy rear wheel trued. I had just been to Allis cycle and they gave me some song and dance about not being able to do it right away because of the corrosion on the spoke nipples. Well wheel and sprocket had no problem and took care of it immediately. Everyone was really friendly and I would highly recommend the shop. I have been to many other wheel and sprocket locations and had all but given up on them but this was a refreshing visit for sure. The even gave me a discount for no reason on top of that - I would have been fine paying full price. Thanks!
