Great bike shop! After spending a frustrating 3 months trying to get a recurring problem with my new Ellsworth Ride bike fixed by the dealer who sold it to me, Ellsworth recommended I take it to Richards Bicycles. While it was a 100 mile round trip from my house, I had no choice. Richards staff including Mike and Adam were a delight to deal with. I delivered my bike at 10 am on a Wednesday with Mike warning me that they had a backlog and they might not get to it for a few days. Despite this, they called me the very next day to tell theyd diagnosed the problem and the defective part - the rear gear hub - was being shipped back to the manufacturer for repair under warranty. While it took a month for Shimano to complete the repair, my wheel came back with a new hub. The guys at Richards put the wheel back on and tuned up the bike to a condition that was better than when it was delivered new. I couldnt be happier - good guys, easy to interact with, hassle free and they knew precisely what they were doing. While they are not geographically close to me, they are high on my list as the dealer Ill buy my next bike from. Thanks guys.

I bought a bike online about a year ago and I have to say: What a great experience! I was undecided between a Trek SuperFly and a Niner EMD 9. Well, then I got in contact with Adam over Richards Bicycles who helped me with all my questions. With his help, I was able to choose the Niner which is a way better machine than the Trek. Also, I received a great discount I was not able to obtain in any local store. Not long ago my brakes started giving me a hard time (the ones came with the Niner.) Thus, I contacted Adam. He explain that the brakes were out off warranty already. However, he contacted the manufacturer (SRAM) and found the way for them to replace my brakes... Not only to replace but to upgrade them for a high end ones at no cost for me. This is what I call GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Cannot adjust gears properly! My spouse took my bike in and it wasnt adjusted properly. So I took it in and had to listen to some "mansplaining" about how to shift gears. Um, what? Its a little different trying to shift through 21 gears in a small parking lot! I am pretty sure it was the same guy (40-50ish) both times and he clearly doesnt know what he is doing. The chain hits the chain guide in at least one combination, it clunks when shifting in two or three combinations, and doesnt work at all in one. All I had originally was a bobble in a couple combinations. Then I asked my spouse to try to fix it and thats how we ended up here. Dont make the customer think they are wrong when you cant adjust gears. Even if it is not on a $1,000 bike and the customer has a vagina.

Awesome experience with Richards Bicycles. Purchased a FOES Mutz from them recently and Im feelin like a kid again. The MUTZ is a full squish FAT tractor. Handles everything that I have thrown in front of it so far. Im a big guy, so I was looking for a bike that could take a beating. Adam at the shop helped me with the setup and got everything put together. He was great to work with and always kept me up to date during the build. Was a great experience doing a custom build. Researching the components and picking exactly what you want. Would definitely recommend working with these guys to get a great bike build.

I have been looking for a bike shop that still builds wheels, which is quite complicated. Adam ensured me that they are professionals. The guy I gave my wheels to in the store assured me...."weve been doing wheels for 20 years....bla bla bla". The wheel set they did for me was done terrible to the extend that I have now arching scratches to the nipple hole in my black anodized rims all around the wheel. Seems like someone was in a hurry and didnt take the proper care. I drove 45min each way and I am never giving them another set of wheels and neither should you.

Superb customer service! Adam was extremely helpful and patient as we worked through picking out a new mountain bike and components to meet my needs (or more aptly, "addiction"), and I am very happy with my purchase. I really appreciated his knowledge of the sport and industry, and Im sure his professionalism is representative of the rest of the Richards team. These guys are great; theyll help you make the best choices, get you anything you need and they treat you right! I highly recommend them and will definitely do business with Richards again.

These guys are professional, knowledgeable, quick, and respectful. I do all my own wrenching with the exception of wheel building. I wouldnt trust my nice wheelset builds with anyone else in the Chicagoland area. They are absolutely PROS at wheel building. They had a custom wheelset done for me in a week with spoke prep and everything. Dont believe me? Check out their eBay store to look at the amount of wheels they deal with. Ive also delt with them for Fox service and warranty work and its always a very pleasant and quick experience.

I bought my bike quite a few years back from Richards, it was time for a tune-up. I was mentioning how it didnt seem to glide very well, I would have to pedal like crazy to get anywhere. Mike suggested the tune up and maybe to change out the tires. Well, new tires/rims did the trick along with the tune-up, I have had the bike back now for 3 weeks and LOVE IT. It is like a brand new bike. I cant believe how it glides now. Thank you Mike/Richards for doing some magic on my bike. Thank YOU!

What can I say these guys have top notch customer service. My transaction started with a set of rims purchased from them through Ebay. It continued with Adam, one of their sales associates, assisting me with a warranty issue on a bike I purchased 3.5 years ago and NOT FROM THEM. Now thats customer service. Adam has helped me out and gone the extra mile to make my transaction as smooth as possible. Again, thank you Richards Bicycle.

Great shop. Super busy because they take care of their customers. I bought a Titus from FW in downtown Chicago. The frame cracked on a weld. FW told me I was out of luck, crash replacement at best. Took it to Richards they had a new frame for me in about 2 weeks. Wish I would of known about this shop when I bought the bike. Been shopping their every since. You will not find a better deal, and the shop stands by their products.

Stumbled upon the place looking for some replacement wheels and thought the Stans Arch with X9 hubs looked to be a good value. Called in and talked to Adam, I felt comfortable and pulled the trigger. Wheels showed two days later and all seemed in order. First test was the Lutsen 39er, they felt bombproof and performed well. They appear to have been built well.
