If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. I used to go to Ice Cream Renaissance very regularly before it moved to the new location. I moved away from Vancouver and had not been back for some time. I was finally back in town and had a night to show off this (no longer) wonderful establishment to a friend. I spent hours talking up the Three Sisters special. IT WAS TERRIBLE. The ice cream literally looked like a pile of poo (plop of melty ice cream covered in cocoa powder to cover up whatever they were trying to pass as artisanal ice cream), nothing at all like the original iterations of their unique creations. Utterly disappointing flavor and combination of topping and ice cream. Ice cream was also served on a dish that was clearly fresh out of the washer as the ice cream was half melted when served. Also, the feel of the new location is horrible. Lighting was harsh, décor was cheap and boring. Sad to see this unique Vancouver gem has been utterly destroyed.

Big fan of this place! My wife and I just moved to Vancouver a couple months ago and have visited Ice Cream Renaissance at least 4 times. As someone who is lactose-intolerant, I appreciate their vegan ice cream options- not just sorbet or frozen yogurt! On top of the delicious ice cream, we also love the atmosphere. Its definitely a place you can hang out and enjoy time with friends and family. The menu language reflects the Pacific Northwest with items like the "St. Helens Volcano." The hand lettered artwork adds character as well. The locally brewed coffee is also good. They also have complementary water available, which is always nice to have after something sweet. They also serve seasonal flavored ice creams. My wife tried the pumpkin and said she loved it.

Pros: gluten free cones, dairy free options, cute place, peanut butter ice cream is delicous. Cons: Inconsistent quality, overpriced, cant actually see the ice cream before ordering. I should have sampled my flavor (cherry chocolate chip) but I figured it would be amazing. It was so icy and the opposite of creamy and really didnt have much flavor...so bummed. I tried my daughters peanut butter ice cream and it was flavorful and very creamy. The cran-razzle sorbet my other daughter had was tasty, too. Two kid gluten free cones ($0.50 more each, understandably) and a single scoop sugar cone came to just about $10.50..seems a bit steep in price Definitely recommend trying the flavors first before purchasing.

The ice cream tasted great and the flavors were super creative, which made this place fun. There are lots of good flavors to choose from and the menu has a pretty good sense of humor. Its a great place to go if you want gourmet ice cream and dont mind spending a pretty penny. Reason for the 4 stars: the ice cream was a bit on the expensive side. It was really good, Ill give them that, but that expense does not even cover service. They do not wait tables. If you eat there, you pay up front, sit at a table of your choosing (the cleanest one you can find), and put your own dishes away. If you want water, its also at a serve yourself station by where the dishes get out away.

My wife and I went here after a delicious Hawaiian dinner. I had a scoop of the choco nana chip and one of the peanut butter blitz. My two scoops were delicious. Unfortunately my wife tried the mango orange sorbet and thought it was just TOO sweet so she decided to get the old fashioned milk chocolate ice cream. Since she LOVES chocolate she ordered a double --> not a good idea. The chocolate was more "chalky" instead of being "chocolatey" and was definitely not creamy. My wife was extremely disappointed. Lesson learned --> try any flavor before you order it. Overall we give it a three (5+2)/2=3.5.

Officers Row...order it, you wont regret it...as long as you REALLY like icecream. My family tired to stop by Ice Cream Renaissance once a month (at least). The seating area is quaint, the staff is friendly and the ice cream is delicious. Its also made on-site and VERY affordable. The menu item I mentioned above, Officers Row, is seven (7) scoops of your choice....for $7. Bring a friend and share. Theres many other wonderful options there. Youll come for the good prices, you keep coming for the great flavors and wonderful experience.

I ordered the Island Sunset (primary pineapple based sorbet) and it was one of the best frozen deserts Ive ever had. There staff was super friendly and they even bring your order too you, in a nice chilled bowl. Definitely a great place to bring a date, or just go with your friends and family! Brandon, one of the owners talked with me and explained the difference between sorbet and dairy based ice cream and was great! I found a new afternoon favorite!

They have ice cream by the scoop, a big variety of sundaes, espresso, and other desserts. I wasnt blown away by the brownie in my sundae, but the fact that they have multiple vegan options for my dairy-free husband totally made his day. (Poor guy almost never gets to order dessert when were out!) It gets cramped when theyre busy and the LED track lighting is a little blinding, but its a cute place. Really friendly service and open late.

The ice cream is good - good flavors. I love that its a local business and its really cute inside. The people that work there are very friendly. This is more of an observation and less a complaint, but the ice cream is too melty for me. I know its homemade and Im familiar with what the consistency differences are, but it never seems frozen enough for my tastes. I end up eating it way too fast so it doesnt slide down my arm.

Another great local hangout for the kids and teens. Great ice cream and the location itself has a wonderful atmosphere. We had our daughters seventh birthday party there (just a small gathering with family and a cake ordered through the shop through an outside bakery). Owners and employees did everything they could to make it special, and our teen son has been going there with friends for years.

Godzilla cake?! Anything you want?! This place is ahhh-mazing. Like that scene in "Hook" where Robin Williams finally believes hes Peter Pan and they have that incredible food fight! Seriously, if youve never seen "Hook" you should probably stop reading this and go watch it. Seriously. Anyhow. This place is a must-do in downtown Van. Must. Do.

Was not impressed. Wanted to treat myself to a nice icecream cone, I was severely disappointed. It was icey, lacking in flavor and not creamy at all. Perhaps I just caught them on a bad day? I wont be going back again, just not worth it. I honestly would have been much more satisfied going to baskin robin, or even McDonalds ice cream.

Im not sure why people love this place. It appeals to me because I love gourmet ice cream. However, it doesnt deliver. Often times I cant even finish my scoop because it is too icey and ends up hurting my mouth. It might be a lot better if it was more creamier, but for what I get for the price is something I would not recommend.

We were disappointed in the ice cream flavor and texture. It lacked the creaminess good ice cream is supposed to have. The ice cream is behind the counter where you can’t see it, and there really wasn’t much variety. Pros: It is a cute little place, people seemed friendly, and it’s open late.
