I learned all about kickbacks...What a racket. I have always had great credit and got the lowest interest rates but lost my house in the downfall of the market so for the first time I was experiencing what happens at a dealership when you dont have a proven credit record after bankruptcy. WOW what a bag of tricks! The current deal was 1.9% and explained and the rep and I agreed to run credit and see "what the bank said". Now it gets interesting... * I was told that they ran a preliminary report but couldnt see enough of a track record in the two years after the bankruptcy. (Ok and thats what I told them). So they said they would call the bank in the am and I would have a definite answer by 1 pm. * The next communication by the sales rep was "he got the answer back and I was all set." Okay, how much? "750 a month." Ummmmmmm $750 a month on a $28k vehicle? How long is the loan for 2-3 years? "No, theyll do 60 months." Ummmm it sounds like the interest rate is like 20%, what rate are they using? "Oh Im not allowed to tell you." So he left a message for the credit manager to call me. She called me back and said, "The interest is 19% but I have a really good relationship with the bank so I could probably get you 12%." Okay wait a minute. Sales rep said I was all set. Lie #2 (you never even called the bank). Lie #1 was you were calling the bank in the morning to see what rate you could get. Heres the thing nothing has changed with the relationship between the Toyota dealer and TFS in the last 2 days so its a game they play to make you believe "theyre doing you a favor". Thats when I did my research and found that kickbacks are common ploys that bring in dealerships BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. When you get a loan they get the difference between the BUY rate (actual rate charged by TFS for the loan) and the rate THEY CHARGE YOU. The difference in my case would have given the DEALERSHIP a hefty interest payment of the difference between the 19% and 1.9% had I been gullible enough to not question them! OF course as soon as you speak up the rate drops to 12% and they pocket a mere 10.1% interest payment over 60 MONTHS! Its legal, but so is my shopping elsewhere. BTW I learned the warranties are transferable so Im much more apt to buy privately and avoid feeling slimed all together. But the advice for anyone stuck in this situation is to tell them up front youre aware of kickbacks and youre not putting up with it! Insist on seeing the BUY rate!

I wish I could give zero stars because they didnt even earn 1. I inquired about a rather rare used car and made an offer just $300 lower than their asking price, they said no, so I committed to paying 100% of their asking price. I offered my credit card information to hold the vehicle as I was an out of state customer. The salesman took my credit card info and said he would hold the car until I arrived which was to be 24 hours from our conversation. After no response during the day, I called and asked for the sales manager "Steve". He said "we will not hold a car for anyone". I said, I dont want you to hold it, I am buying it site unseen. They had my credit card info and all they needed to do was to charge the deposit and write a bill of sale. I changed all my plans for the week to drive down and pick up the car. Later in the day, Steve calls back and said they had someone else interested in the car and he was on his way into the dealership. So basically, they were "holding" it for someone else, but wouldnt hold it for me. Steve said he would call me back "either way" to inform me about the availability of the car. He did not even have the decency to call back. He said they wouldnt take my deposit because I could cancel the transaction up to 30 days after the charge. So this tells me 2 things, they dont trust their customers at Warrenton Toyota, or they sell junk used cars that cause people to reverse charges on their card. I told him I could pay cash for the car if needed, but still they refused to sell it to me. They have shown poor customer service, lies, and two completely different stories coming from sales people and managers. Dont waste your time with this dealer, they dont trust CUSTOMERS are exactly why negative stereotypes follow deceitful used car sales people like Warrenton Toyota. As a bonus, I told Steve I would be telling my story to the BBB. His response? "Then I diffidently wont sell you the car". Classy!!!

My wife called the service department about an issue with a tire on her Highlander which we purchased from Warrenton Toyota in 2013 and has only been serviced at your dealership. She was told there were no appointments available for two weeks, even though she explained the low tire indicator was on and she continued having to fill up the tire with air each day. Later that same day, she was in Warrenton and stopped in to see if they could look at the tire. She was told they could, but then 5 mins later they told her they couldnt find the leak and to just keep adding air, but they could schedule her for an appointment in two days. She took this appointment, just to ensure the tire would be looked at. Later that night when I was told of the issue, I immediately reached out to a local shop in Culpeper that was able to check the tire the next morning and identify the tire needed immediate replacement since the leak was at the tread and sidewall which could have caused the tire to blow. When my wife called back to cancel the service appointment and explained why the appointment was being canceled, the service advisor was not concerned about the first visit not bring handed correctly or the risk she had driving on the tire where the unrepairable damage was found. This is very poor customer service and the lack of actions by your company jeopardized the safety of my family. I have purchased 2 vehicles from you and done all our service at your dealership, but this experience will force me to look at other dealers and providers for my future purchases and services since we no longer feel part of the Warrenton Toyota family.

I was looking to get a Highlander Hybrid for those fun commutes into DC and I saw they had the exact one online with the features that I was looking for. I called to get an exact price after tags and all the other stuff and got a Mike Kelly on the phone. He was nice about everything and gave me the price that I wanted but was a little unhappy when he gave me the price and then said, “That’s the drop dead price, no questions asked.” Then I went on to ask about additional warranties and of course he brought up that would be added on later. Though, I felt a little misled by that conversation however, he did give me everything that I was asking for and was very nice about it. When I did show up to the dealership I just waited for the first person to come out and it was a very nice person by the name of Chris Gatti. He showed me to their selection of pre-owned Highlanders and allowed me to test-drive wherever I wanted. I started to ask questions about changing the oil and other items that were needed to maintain the car and he took me to their service department. A friendly person came out and showed me exactly how to change the oil in the car. Overall it was a pleasant experience from everyone. I hope my current car will last me for many years but the next time we need a new one I’m going to them first.
