I have to admit that I was hesitant to get my tat done since I have 2 others that I was not pleased with (by other studios). The first person I came into contact with was Jay at the desk. He was patient with my friend and I as we tried to figure out pricing and giving our descriptions. Gave us honest, insightful feedback on what would work and what wouldnt. He did my friends tattoo on her neck and she was 100% pleased with the results. I think he was particular in his detailing and has alot of talent. My artist was Lucy and I cannot say enough to praise this girl! I had an idea in my head and despite my ramblings whenI tried to portray what I wanted...she hit it on the head! In fact she took my basic idea, ran with it and came up with something so much better than I had envisioned. She truly captured what I wanted and worked my personality into it. I am a baby when it comes to pain and I have to say that I appreciate her patience. She let me take breaks when I needed to, had a light touch, and has a way of making you feel at ease. My final result has me so excited and stoked that she is currently drawing up another one that I plan to get on my feet. HIGHLY recommended. One other person Id like to mention is Danny. He did our paperwork and also gave some great input and advice. He has made a follow up call for me. Super helpful and very chill. Overall I think this location has a wonderful staff that has customer service downpat. I cant wait to get my second one done. Thanks guys!

I would strongly urge you to go elsewhere after the experience I had at this shop. After an extended period of waiting in the shop the tattoo artist, Ren, decided to step outside and openly use drugs. When he returned the entire building smelled of marajuana. Dont get me wrong, Im ok with the indulgence- but I certainly dont want my artist high when Im getting tattooed. I very calmly explained that I no longer wanted to get tattooed and would like to get my money refunded since no services had been rendered. This is when Ren admitted to using drugs, began to yell at me, and said there was no way I was getting my money back. Another employee, clearly noticing how Ren was treating me jumped in and offered to personally refund my money, but Ren snapped at him and said there would be no refunds. I emailed the management at this establishment asking for a resolve of the situation behind closed doors without having to share my experience with the public. They said they would look into the matter and I havent heard from them since. I have since sent several emails asking the status of the situation with no response. I simply asked for a refund because NO services had been rendered, and they refuse to give me my money back. This establishment is beyond unprofessional! I strongly urge you to take your business elsewhere.

Ive been to this location twice before, once for a tattoo and once for a piercing and had a good experience, however, since moving to Va Beach I figured Id go to that location instead thinking that all the shops would be the same. Wrong. Upon entering the Va beach locations shop nobody said a word to me and just stared at me blankly as I walked in even tho there were 0 customers in the shop at the time, The piercer wasnt in at the time so I decided to visit the Portsmouth location since I planned on being in the area later that week. When I came to the shop it was quite busy, a lot of people aksing the staff questions or deciding on what to get but even still, as soon as I walked in to the busy shop I was immediately greeted and asked what I needed help with! I know people dont go to to tattoo and piercing shops for the customer service but to be welcomed in a packed shop after being all but ignored in an empty one is commendable. Additionally, Biscuit was funny and friendly and Shaunie was also awesome when I came for my first piercing. Kudos guys! I would definitely recommend this particular location.

The only reason I gave it 1 star is because I had to, otherwise I couldnt post this review. I will not even rate this establishment. My son had an appt with Mike to get a tattoo on a Friday evening. 2 minutes prior to his appt they called to reschedule for the next morning. I was ok with this as I understand things happen. Since we were already at the place at the first scheduled time, we spoke DIRECTLY to Mike and he requested that we come the next day at 10:30am. We were there, once again, at the scheduled time, and Mike was a NO SHOW. As you can imagine, my son was not only very disappointed, but this was all a HUGE inconvenience for us as we are from out of state. We had to get the proper identification overnight Fed-Ex and then revamped our travel days to accommodate this guy. I could not believe how inconsiderate and unprofessional this was. No value for other peoples time. I cannot rate any of the other artists, but I can say that we also spoke with Taylor and he was very nice and seemed to make his clients a priority.

Ive been to BHS Tattoo a few times, piercings, tattoos, etc., but never Portsmouth location. I went last night to get my cheeks pierced. One wound up being higher than the other, and the piercer (who was amazingly great with everything, piercings are just never perfect) took it out and asked me to come back free of charge in about a week. Last night, in my sleep (rough sleeper) the ball on the cheek I did still have, came off! And when I awoke, the barbell wasnt going back through. I called this morning to ask what to do, and theyre going to take care of both piercings for me without expense to me, this weekend. I always have amazing service with the Blue Horseshoe! Please see them. (: EDIT // : Went back today, had both cheeks done again, and they are PERFECT. And now-- IM F***ING ADORABLE. A huge thanks to my new favorite piercer. Ask for "Biscuit". (;

It is now mid march and I have tried on nearly 10 different occasions to stop in to Blue horseshoe to get both my ears pierced. I have been told every time that the piercer is out and I should try the other shop and so I go there and no one is there to pierce. I tried again tonight and was told the piercer is at the Portsmouth location I drove straight there only to find the piercer just left for the night. It is a Saturday night and they just left hours before the store closed. I think they need to just change the name to Blue Horseshoe Tattoo and piercing if we feel like working that day! Each time someone apologizes but I have a better idea, fire the sorry ass piercer you employed and find people that will actually be at work every day to service your customers.

Most amazing tattoo studio that Ive ever gone to. :) This is the only place Im going to be going to get work done. I went and got a tattoo from Lucy Lou on Sunday and I have to say that I was absolutely speechless when I saw the final result. The tattoo is wonderful and is perfect in every way. Lucy was the best tattoo artist Ive received a tattoo from. Very friendly and made the experience a lot of fun. I was in the chair for almost 5 hours and I have to say Ive never felt more at home. The studio itself is extremely clean and immaculate. Everything was disinfected and sterile. They also have their tattoo licenses clearly visible and so it really gave me a good feeling during my tattoo. Overall I highly recommend this establishment. Amazing!
