Sadly I will not be shopping here again. I loved the one in fair oaks. and it was the only place I would grocery shop. Always busy but plenty of staff and everyone was very friendly. Not what I can say for the Safeway on Elden and I just moved here which means I will be finding a new place to shop. I had two back to back bad experiences here. The first one was on 2/6/2017/ I in the morning to get some essentials we needed to get through the next few days as I had spent the weekend in the hospital. I got 19 items. There was only ONE line open and it was a 15 or less. I paused at it and then went down to the end of the store and confirmed it was indeed the only line and no one was around top open another line. No one was in the only open line except for one person so I went in the line. As soon as I did the cashier told me I had to step out of the line because it was 15 or less. I pointed out that there was no other line open and asked what I was supposed to do. He again told me to step out of the line and he would call someone else to open. (Remember I had 19 items). At this time a woman and her daughter had come up behind me and looked at the guy like what was his problem and looked at me apologetically as I asked them to please let me exit the line. They looked back at me and mouthed they were sorry and stepped into my place. I waited for over 5 minutes before this cashier even bothered to call someone and by this time there were others waiting and when someone finally did come they took someone who did not know I was waiting. The cashier who did know rudely pointed that I was waiting in the back of the line and I should have been taken first. I was in tears at this point. I had just had surgery and did was tired and just wanted to get home. They opened up a third line just for me at the point and apologized. They all agreed I should have never been asked to step step out of line in the first place. Especially with no other line open. I gave them another chance today and this time two lines were open. The 15 or less and then regular line. I only had 1 item this time and as I was coming into the line a couple with a full cart literally pushed me out the way with their cart and went into this lane. The regular lane only had one customer and when I pointed this out to the customers they completely ignored me. I Looked at the cashier and though oh you better say something. (Especially after how I was treated over 4 extra items and no other line open" He didnt. He just shrugged at me like SORRY and took the customers. I ended up going into the regular line for my ONE items. Safeway you need to consistent on how you treat people. I have been treated unfairly by your company twice nice. I am sure this does not matter to you but I will not be shopping at your place again.

This store is well maintained and the staff are very welcoming. Its great that its open 24 hours, too. The Meat department is specifically good. You can get decent deals on food you need with a Safeway card, which is free. On the flip side, whoever did the layout of the aisles and product placement was a few bricks short of a load. Dairy is in three separate places, (butter, yogurt and cream across the aisle from beer; milk and eggs at the rear of the store between bakery and pharmacy; and packaged cheese near produce) and some products are in rather unlikely aisles. Its safest to ask the front desk if you cant find something.

Best grocery store in the Herndon Area. Get a safeway card if you dont have one. I always save a lot of money here. Their deliveries are twice a week typically on Tues and Thursdays. Midweek is the best time to shop. They have my mineral water and a great selection of beers and wine. The giant in Herndon and the one off of dranesville road are gross and run down. This Safeway is clean and has a big selection. The only downfall is the shortage of cashiers later at night. Hey what you expect when you are shopping late. This is the only grocery store I frequent in Herndon. happy Shopping XD

Clean, friendly, and usually well stocked. I shop there several times a week. Removing a point because two random nights, before midnight, they posted "closed til morning" when they have 24 hour business time. Just drove there and they have another "closed until 6am" sign out. :|

DJ at customer service would not ring me up for 2 items. Told me that customer service was only for western union, etc not ringing up people. Gave me attitude and walked away. Thank you DJ for my first experience in Safeway Herndon. Would be my last!

Store has a constant gut retching rotten produce / meat smell. Store has sale signs which do not reflect in pfrice, that is right false advertising. When I tell the store clerk, they completely ignored after I waited in line for 20 plus minutes.

The woman in the headscarf who made my drink either didnt speak English or have no customer service skills whatsoever. She was rude and I honestly had a hard time trusting her to make my drink after that. Also, try getting a microwave.

nice service but they couldnt do the suture and sent me to AFC down the street next to McDonalds. They always do that which is fine I received good service from AFC Urgent care as well.

This place cant figure out how to keep enough lines open. Everything is fine until you try to check out and there are two lanes open for 25 carts. One year later...they still suck.

Very expensive I found it. Truly, my first time is my last time. Even the sale prices are more expensive than other stores normal price. Its silly to pay more than you have to.

This store has no self checkout lines. Standing in line to check out through a cashier can sometimes take quite a while. They definitely need Improvement in this area

Good quality produce and meats, decent selection on dry goods, etc. Prices are a little high if you dont have a Safeway Club Card to take advantage of the discounts.

Large supermarket with customer-friendly opening times and cheap prices. Maybe not the luxurious type but it saves you a lot of money.
