Barracks has a great variety of shops for students and townies alike. There are clothes stores for every budget and occasion (Old Navy, J. Jill, Kate Spade, Anthropologie, etc.), great local & chain dining & coffee (Chipotle, Zinburger, Greenberrys Coffee, the Starbucks inside Barnes and Noble) and of course Harris Teeter and Kroger for groceries. It is a well-kept shopping center and its very pedestrian-friendly, but driving around the parking lots can really suck at peak hours with the high foot traffic and car congestion. Some of the most useful places for me, as a student, have been Michaels Crafts, Kroger, Old Navy, and Bed Bath & Beyond. It is only a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute bike/drive from UVA and the Northline bus can bring you there, too. Just dont try to bring a ton of groceries on the bus. Been there, done that, not a fun time.

How do you review a whole shopping center? If I base it on the stores there, I would give it four stars. If I base it on the amenities like parking, public bathrooms (I dont think there are any) etc... Then thats why Im giving it three stars. Its one of the more difficult places to find parking. Its very cramped, often so busy you cant find a parking spot, and the spots arent spaced well. As I said Im not aware of a public bathroom here. You have to use one of the stores. Luckily the stores are fine with you using their bathrooms. I think its so busy because its the closest shopping center to the university. Stay away from Barracks road in the early fall and on parents weekend. You will have to fight to find parking and the stores are so packed its not worth it.

I visit each week to shop at krogers, rebeccas natural foods, and/or the chinese food store next to ming dynasty a block up... This shopping center has the best mix for foods of all types but you have to be aware of uva events to avoid the worst traffic... 3 weeks ago i tried to exit krogers and found a long line of tour buses in my way... Lol... The best time to shop is before the retail establishments are open.... Which limits you to krogers and harris teeter... Ah, well.

Typical upscalish outdoor shopping mall. It has two big grocery stores (Kroger, Harris Teeter) a Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Michaels, CVS and a bunch of smaller local and chain shops. Some clothes, some food places, a kitchen shop, etc etc. I often go to hit Great Outdoors for gifts, which is a wilderness outfitter. Its fairly light on actual outdoor gear but has a large selection of outdoor lifestyle clothing.

I love this place. Great shopping, good scenes, and a surprise around every corner the first few times you visit. Go there, get out of your car, and spend an hour walking, and youll find 100 great surprises as you walk. I go here a lot, and Im never disappointed. Tobacco, art supplies, food, goods, groceries. Everything!

This shopping mall is always very busy. Its a beautiful outdoor shopping area with fountains and nice sitting areas. Pretty much any food that you like you can find here and there are two super markets. Every worker Ive ever met there has been extremely friendly. I walk through here almost daily on my lunch break.

The Barracks Road Shopping center is a convenient group of many favorite stores and shops for the students at UVA and residents living nearby. Im a regular visitor especially to the pharmacy located within Krogers. New to area, its convenient and has an appealing layout of the various stores, restaurants and more.

Every time Im in Charlottesville we go to the plaza. Rebeccas natural foods is a welcome sight. Excellent place for organic foods. This store has an amazing selection of teas and coffee available. Excellent place for remedies of an organic natural choice. Nice store, and always a helpful staff.

Plenty of stores to visit. A nice balance between food, clothing, hobby stores, specialty stores, and more. There is a store for just about everyone. The center is kept looking clean and attractive, and navigating with vehicles is straightforward. Parking is usually nice, as well.

Barracks road is a good shopping center. Its got a big selection of stores and isnt too expensive, unlike most malls. Its a nice place to walk around when it isnt too hot or cold out, and the Lindt store gives out samples, which is nice.

Its ok. There are some interesting stores, but it is pretty small. There is also some construction going on, so there might be some obstacles in the way of some sidewalks. Overall, its a good 15 minute waster for any college kids.

It is the best, most accessible (by public transit and cars with enough parking space) and festive shopping center in Charlottesville VA. It has many good stores like Kroger with competitive prices and good healthy food options.

There are a number of stores I enjoy, such as Barnes and Noble Booksellers, CVS, Bed Bath and Beyond. There are also two grocery stores and numerous restaurants so much can be accomplished at one location.

Everything you could want in a shopping center. Very walkable. Tight parking and heavy traffic. But you can walk safely anywhere you need to go. You can also safely bike there if you are vigilant to traffic.

Always very busy and parking can be extremely difficult. A lot of pedestrians that will just run out in front of you. I only come here for very specific things and usually avoid it like the plague.

Love some of the stores. However the people that over see the shopping center are not good people to deal with. Wanted to sit up an event to raise money for Alzheimers they wouldnt allow it.

Some great stores, but the mix is strange overall. Parking and traffic flow through the shopping center is really problematic. The property owner should address parking and traffic flow.

Barracks Road has a ton of great shops. I love Salon Cielo. There is a great little patio area with a Panera, Five Guys, and Tara Thai that is beautiful to eat in on a warm day.

If you do not play Pokemon Go: it is okay to chill around for a couple hours, but there isnt much to do. If you do play Pokemon Go: I can spend like four hours here easy.

This place has it all and more. From food to clothes, this is a one stop shop for it all. Even if you are boring and want to read books, they have a Barnes and Noble

It is a shopping center, but a pretty nice one, has Harris Teeter, Kroger, Michals etc, groceries, restaurants, fast food, and more than enough parking space.
