What an incredible honor it was yesterday to visit the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, known as VINS! Its not what youd think by its name; its about Raptors (eagles, hawks, owls and other VT wild birds only.) Its a welcoming place to visit and has a number of great exhibits and demonstrations throughout the day in addition to wonderful winding trails, a hospital for injured birds as well as very well kept large outside enclosures for these tremendously beautiful large birds. You wanna talk about being up close and personal, this is the place. Youre never further than just feet away from these beautiful birds. The snowy owl was crazy gorgeous as was the barred and other owls. The variety of hawks, golden and bald eagles was absolutely incredible! Alexa put on a terrific and informative demonstration with an injured yet recouperating Kestrel and Hawk. It was so very inspiring all the good work they do there! Tons of volunteers inside and outside ensure that injured VT wild birds or abandoned young birds are given the very best of care and chances to return back to to the wild to live long healthy lives. Its a phenomenal network. Another wonderful aspect of VINS is if youre a person or family residing in either NH or VT who has an EBT or Medicaid card, they only charge you $2.00 instead of the regular price of $14.50. Thank you so very much for making our visit possible! We will positively be returning again during perhaps the fall or winter season.

Not enough parking had to park out onto Route 4, not good idea with small children or the disabled/handicap. Had one officer directing traffic going North. Not organized at all. They had arts & crafts for the children and there was nothing available for them to do and this was at 12 noon.... There was a show going on with the owls/birds and the one women had a mic and you could not hear a word she was saying. This place could be great for children/ Schools with improvements. I would not pay the price you ask for an adult or child under these conditions....

They have a lot of variety of birds of prey. They rehabilitate injured and sick birds and if they are able to these birds are released back into the wild. They also have a common area where they have educational shows and answer any questions you may have. They have a building for younger children to go. VINS has a couple nature trails that people can use. I would definitely recommend this place.

If youre interested in Raptor Birds this is the place to go. Staff is very friendly and well-informed. They have a medium sized exhibit on the modern Theory of how birds came from dinosaurs and how dinosaurs actually had feathers. Check TripAdvisor for this place too lot of details on there

Staff truly cares. Very large enclosures for the birds. If you go at feeding time (or anytime 30 minutes after) youll learn a lot and get to see the raptors enjoy their snacks. Would love to visit more often if I lived in the area.

This place is amazing! They rehabilitate and care for raptors here. There is a wealth of information available as well. We picked up the plans for a barred owl nesting box and built one when we got home. I cant wait to go back.

Very large and extensive center. They often have events that you can spend all day at and still feel like you want to go back again. Much of it is outside, so dress accordingly.

It is a great place for both adults and children to learn about birds. It is also nice to know you are contributing to a great cause while you visit or if you become a member.
