We went to buy a rocker recliner chair and bought a leather sectional. When it was delivered, I hated it because it wasnt comfortable. I was so happy when Star Furniture allowed us to return the sofa (with a restocking fee, of course) and buy another sofa. I knew to go for comfort this time and couldnt find what I wanted except in a lazyboy double recliner sofa that was so ugly...LOL. Davie Brown (our sales rep-retired the week after our purchase) told me to go to lazyboy and sit on the sofas before purchasing the one I wanted because I asked for the memory foam to be added to the seat. So, I went down to lazyboy, sat on all the sofas and found a different sofa I liked and loved the memory foam. While I was at Lazyboy, I found the rocker, recliner leather chair I wanted as well. I went back to Star Furniture and learned (to my surprise) that Stars prices were substantially lower than Lazyboys...even with the "big discount" lazyboy was going to give me, if I purchased it that day. I bought the sofa and the chair from Star. They arrived ahead of schedule, they are comfortable and if they had delivered the chair with the swivel I ordered, I would have given this rating a 5 star. Unfortunately, my swivel arrived in a box this last week and we are now waiting on someone to come install it on our chair because they delivered it without the swivel...(disappointing). But, Im in love with my comfortable double recliner sofa and soft chocolate leather swivel rocker chair. I also should add that my neighbor bought a leather sectional the week after we bought ours and they bought it from the Loft at the Domain in Austin. When it arrived, the chemicals in the sofa made them sick. They had to take the sofa outside because it was so toxic. They called the store owner to see if they could return it and was told that they had a "no return" policy. It was NOT a special order. The owner told them, if they didnt like it they should take it to a consignment store...LOL. He also told them he would sell them another sofa, but all their sofas are made by the same manufacturer, so the next one will probably smell also. They are stuck with their sofa. Im so thankful we went to Star Furniture.

Terrible customer service when it comes to delivery. They arrived early so I wasnt yet ready for them. Even with the delay of me throwing clothes on and stripping my sheets off my old mattress they were finished and out of my house a full 15 minutes before they were supposed to arrive. They tromped through my house with shoes on when it had been raining outside. And they delivered a mattress whose plastic cover had been opened some time during shipping, so it was dirty and needed to be exchanged. When the exchange mattress came in (I had to wait a week) they arrived to deliver it half an hour before the appointed time (or so they tell me). They called, did not leave a message, and did not wait for me to arrive home (I arrived 15 minutes before the 3 hour delivery window they had told me). They didnt leave a note on my door asking me to call, or a message on my answering machine, nor did they try to call back any time during the delivery appointment time. I feel like they didnt make any real effort to deliver my mattress. They were supposed to deliver in the 3-6pm range. At 6:45 when I called the store to ask where the delivery guy was, they informed me that they had unloaded my mattress back at the store (reassuring me that it wasnt on a truck on the way to Houston, like really, who cares where it is if its not in my bedroom?) and the delivery guy had GONE HOME at 3:15 because I didnt return the phone call, remember, the one where they didnt leave a message. I was telepathically supposed to know to call them right at the beginning of my delivery window or too bad, so sad, no mattress for me. I dont know if theyll deliver tomorrow, or at what time they will choose to do so. And of course I had to give up my afternoon and sit around the house waiting for them today. They seem utterly unconcerned. I will NEVER shop there again.

Although they have nice furniture, of which I have bought plenty, I have to sadly say I can no longer feel confident in purchasing from them again. My wife and I recently purchased a coffee table which needed some warranty work. Specifically this table had iron wheels which were spot welded to the base and first one and then another weld failed causing two of the wheels to fall off. I thought, no biggie, since the table is brand new Star would be willing to fix the issue. Well it took about two weeks for them to send someone out. When they did they realized what I had already knew which was the table would need to be replaced unless he had a torch and a can of black paint in his repair truck. The repair assessed the issue, made some notes, and departed telling my wife the table would need to be replaced because he could not repair it on site. Two more weeks go by and no word from Star. I decide to call to check the status of the warranty claim. They tell me the repair person made a notation that the damage was caused by customer abuse. WHAT?!?!, Needless to say I hit the roof, but kept my calm, and presented my case that his assessment was incorrect. They reluctantly accepted my reasoning and "gave me the benefit of the doubt" and agreed to replace the table. My reasoning for giving only two stars is due to how poorly I feel Stars customer service is. I feel its a severely broken process probably because they dont see much of a need for it to be excellent. Every time I spoke to them on the phone I was made to feel a bother to them. So I hope others have a better experience, but as for me I will be shopping elsewhere for my furnishing needs.

Worst customer service ever. They have great furniture, but their follow up once you purchase is pathetic. We ordered a bedroom set in January, and was told it would be delivered the next week. Its now mid March, and we finally got a phone call yesterday saying they would deliver the furniture today between 9:00 am and noon. At 12:30 I called the store and they said they didnt know why we got a call because they dont do that anymore, but that we sere scheduled between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm.. We get very few weekend days to do things together, and now well wait all day on a delivery that is 2 months old. When I have called, they really dont care about the issue, just a very hollow "Im sorry." Well, the order got here late, even for the 2:00 time, and it was not complete. The dresser that was supposed to be delivered was missing, and upon calling the store they cant seem to find it. Update: Somehow the delivery guys "found" the dresser. It was on the truck the whole time. Delivery people were very curt ... slamming things around. After they left and we started cleaning up after them we found that they didnt assemble the bed correctly. There are stabilizing legs under the bed that are hanging in mid air, not touching the floor. They dented the footboard in 4-5 places. I have several friends who are currently in the market for some new furniture. I will ensure they do not shop at Star Furniture. This has been a horrible experience. Never again.
