Houstons #1 self service bike shop! Huge selection! Horrible prices! Dismal customer service! Are you looking for employees who make it seem like a chore to help you? Are you a l33t cyclist who needs his/her ego stroked? Do you need your hipster card punched? Do you think your money is greener than every one elses? THEN GO HERE, NOW!! A HUGE disappointment, seriously. After seeing this place recommended so many times, I decided to give it a try. There was just no interest in helping me find a bike. I talked to the guy who was helping me, he showed me the type of bikes I was looking for, and that was it. ZERO interaction - very transactional. They do have a huge selection of bikes and gear and I have no doubt that the folks behind the counter know their stuff. However, I refuse to drop coin at a place that shows zero interest in helping a new customer. On top of that, they were selling previous year models for more than you can find current year models in other shops! I suppose if youre friends with one of the employees, you have a better experience. I would not recommend West End Bicycles to any new or casual cyclists. ...well, to anyone really.

This is a great place for all things bicycle. When i walked in I was really surprised at the size and the number of bikes. It was really big! It looks small from the outside, but this place is cavernous when you walk in. They have about a million bikes. I have never seen a bike shop with so many bikes. I saw a lot of Specialized bikes, and there were road bikes, mountain bikes, and everything in between. The two times I have been i have need accessories. the first time I need a fender to keep water of my backside in the rain. They had a quick release one that was reasonably priced. I really like it. The second time I needed some gloves, and they had a huge selection at a lot of different price points. I got just what I needed. The staff is friendly and helpful, but will leave you alone if you just want to browse. The place has a nice laid back feel to it, and you might see a friendly cat wondering around. This is where I will continue to go for all my bicycle needs.

My 15 year old son and I have been to the vast majority of bicycle shops in the houston area and have never experienced this high grade level of customer service before. The staff member that helped us the most was Louis, and he was very knowledgable and patient with our katrillion questions we had. The store has a huge selection of high quality bicycles and a 4 to 5 army ant team of bike mechanics always at work. Reminds me of santas elves. Anyways, they listen to what you want and direct you to the type of bike that fits your budget and needs the best. We ended up special ordering a bike and it arrived quickly and was assembled in only a few days. I really recommend any body to stop by this bike shop and give them a chance to earn your business. Its obvious they are in it for the pure love of the hobby. Kevin and Joe

Recently had a 23 y/o C-dale worked on there and they were very good about the repair, finding a rear wheel replacement that was close to the original equipment still on the bike, and helping me with a reluctant saddle decision. They realized that I was hesitant to drop a Benjamin on a new hatchet, so they showed me a take-off saddle that was brand new, worth twice as much, and mounted it on the bike for me, no strings attached. I rode it for 150 miles and then went back to pay for it. They were surprised that I was honest enough to come back and pay, but they were so helpful that I had to honor their trust and good business practice. Theyve also answered dozens of my dumbest questions with a smile and worthwhile suggestions. I dont even live anywhere near there, but will continue to go back.

West End Bicycles kicks so much butt your poop could fly in the air. Seriously, though, this shop is awesome. Ive been to a fair number of shops in and outside of TX and its sweet to have a place like this in Houston. The workers are super humble, friendly, genuinely passionate about bikes, and dont have any sort of arrogant vibe some shops can get. I went to switch out my crankset and they finished the job pretty quickly. Moreover, a worker there gave me advice on what I need to do if I were to change the parts next time myself. What Really blew my mind is they didnt even charge me after knowing my budget was that of the typical broke college student. Five giant chunky stars and screw those others star-stingy whiny reviews. This place is great!

BE WEARY OF GIVING THEM YOUR CREDIT INFO Rented bikes from them and had a terrible experience. Rented the bikes and brought them back and they said I was good to go, when I checked my credit card statement it showed that they had charged me an extra $20 dollars. When I called to figure out the situation I was told there was a scratch on the bike...really give me an F**king break its a rental bike..anyways I told the guy in charge of rentals to credit my account back because I did not put the scratch on the bike and he refused...these guys are crooks I was told that my credit card info was going to be shredded and they went back and charged my card. !!!!!!!!DO NOT USE YOUR CREDIT CARD WITH THEM THEY WILL FRAUDULENTLY CHARGE YOUR ACCOUNT!!!!!!

New to the area and went to look at bikes to ride around town and on the bike paths. Sales person wasnt paying attention because right after I told him what type of riding, he asked if I wanted to ride off road trails. No, I already have a mountain bike. We move on, but then he stopped taking to me to say hi to a buddy. He then had to ask me what we were talking about when he focused on me again. He then stops again to chat with his buddy. No "excuse me" or apologies. He completely ignored me at that point. I stood there for a minute, then walked around the store. He was still talking and I started to feel like a fool, so I left. Ill be buying bikes for my wife and I somewhere else.

I came in from out of town and rented a demo bike for the weekend. The $75 rate is basically all weekend ( got it 10am Saturday, due back 4pm Sunday). That is half what it would cost to bring my own bike via airline! Shop staff were super friendly and they dialed the suspension to my weight. Took it out to magnolia park and it worked flawlessly ( Ive had some bad experiences with rentals before). Came back for some insider trail knowledge and they did not disappoint. Even made me a copy out of the trail guide! The shop is well stocked for both mountain and road with everything from entry level Specialized to a custom Moots road bike. If you are in the area check them out!

Limited selection and poor customer service. Better to shop online than go here. I stopped in to get some custom footbeds and I asked the girl working the desk. I got an "over there" and spent 30 minutes trying to figure out the Specialized system. There was an employee in that area but he was indistinguishable from a customer and was gossiping very loudly with the coffee girls the entire time. He only stopped to say something to me once i was checking out. the selection itself is great if you only want Specialized gear. Other than that there are Wilier bikes and not much else. Poor selection, poor service.
