Second time going to this bike shop, the first time, I was looking for my first road helmet. The guys help me finding a great helmet on my budget... But I went yesterday to get some little service done on a bike, just adjust the front derailleur because I put the bike together but couldnt get that property adjust... (which I didnt bought there). Again the guys help me and did a great job. But then an older guy.... (which I Belive is the owner) treat me horrible... The service I got from him was really bad, to start he criticized the bike calling it lower grade and not worth money, I know he has to promote the bikes he sells, but there are ways to say things and he didnt got nothing of that... Then he asked me if I assembled it. I know he may be concerned about the safety of the rider (or just want me to pay $65 to get it check pretty much that... But when I told him that I put it together, and all I need was the adjustment, he got mad and rude, and told me "let somebody that know how to do this thing do it for you..." Then little latter trying to be polite I explained that I wanted a really entry level because the person that was going to ride it (my girlfriend) is barely starting on cycling and an entry level bike was good for her... (not bad at all in my opinion for entry level... Brand new, aluminum frame, shimano integrated brake/shifters, Alex rims R500 etc.etc...) he told me that thats why I should got her a better bike so she can learn right not on what I got her... He call me "cheap..." Not once, but twice, when he make fun of my because the brakes where little tight (again they are new pads..... and since the surface of the pad doesnt have the same angle of the rim I left them rubbing just a little, so they can wear out and have a better contact area, improving the braking power on the future... But I guess he doesnt think the same way...) and he say to the mechanic guy, "you see this is not righ, but he dont care... he is not going to ride anyway it is for her girlfriend, he is cheap" he was very disrespectful and I felt really bad because he was saying that I dont care about her safety... well I Belive he was trying to show off because another person was with him, (I dont even know the guy to get that kind of service, am just an average customer that deserves some respect.) I think a supplier since he has catalogs... He doesnt know my intentions and my budget.... I guess that he expect that anyone that drop a bike to have it fix on his shop had to have a $2,000+ bike... Well I was very angry because that. So bottom line if you bought the bike there, thake it there to have it fix..... If not just dont do it, or at least make sure HE is not there... He will make fun of you in front of other customers, never going back worst experience ever...

I went in with a minor problem or so i thought with a bike. I was told it was not that big of a deal and they would fix it. When bike was picked up and supposed to be fixed I was told that they "fixed it as best they could" and "that the part needed to be fully replaced" I am like WTF. Why did you not stop at that point if you could not fix the problem 100%. They said they tried to contact me. I did not get the call. They said my part is shot and needs to be replaced not repaired. Thats after they did work on it already.. I am like seriously? Common sense and honest business will tell you not to 1/2 fix something if it needs a full replacement. This turned out to be $100+ repair more than the cost of a decent brand new part replacement.. Not cool. I didnt follow up with them. Cause i have been in before and didnt want to deal with attitude or nonsense. I will never go back. Blue Line Bike Lab is much much better and just down the road. I tired to give IC my business cause I want to support locals but I also dont like getting jacked around. Also.. Just a heads up alot of the bikes I saw that are being sold are past season models.. Which is not a bad thing and sometimes a good catch for the $. Just a heads up.Might want to compare prices online and ask what year the model is. I will give them a 3 stars since local biz matters but like I said not a very good repair exp.

Ive been to I Cycle bike shop a few times to get my bike repaired and to buy basic accessories. Each time Ive been the staff has been courteous and extremely helpful. There have been one or two times where Ive brought my bike up and theyve made the small adjustments I need free of charge. Its definitely nice to see a mom & pop style store where customer service is still important. One quick story illustrating this. I was out for a ride a year or two ago and noticed my tire was getting flat so I rode by the shop but realized it had been closed for 30 minutes. The owner of the store could see me standing outside and unlocked the door so he could help me. He brought out a tire pump and aired up my tires while we talked about good spots to ride locally. He didnt try to charge me for the help or anything, I was very appreciative. The only thing I dislike about the store is that the prices seem somewhat high. I feel this is due to them being a niche store and needing high margins to make a profit. I would choose Wal-Mart or Target for certain things such as helmets or bike pumps if you just need the basics. If youre willing to invest money in a good bike this is a great place to do it. The staff will help size you and let you try out a bike in the parking lot.

The guy who Im assuming is the owner (white guy about 40) to my face literally called my bike, which I had been using to commute to/from work daily for a year, "CRAP" simply because its a no-name I bought online. Hes obviously trying to sell his expensive new bikes but thats not the right way. Btw I was there to buy a simple innertube and *support my LBS*. I hadnt asked for any advice, I didnt even have my bike with me for him to criticize. On a separate visit he made a similar comment after I admitted to buying a tire pump at target. This is just how this guy operates (check other reviews). Hell grill you about where your bike or accessories are from and if you didnt buy it from him then its crap and hell say it to your face. So only go here if youve got $$$ to spend. Now I only go to Blue Line Bike Lab on White Oak. Theyre very cool. In sum: icycle = Lance Armstrong spandex snob (the owner anyway). Blue line bike lab = friendly, helpful & hipsterishy. Fwiw my negative icycle experiences happened almost a year ago, so maybe the owner has changed his tune idk. P.S. my "crap" no-name bike that I bought online and put together has been serving me well on my daily work commutes going on 2.5 years.
