Inappropriate sales practices, forgot to ship my special order bike 2 times, poor customer service. --The first sales guy I talked to was not aware of some of the changes in policy. I needed a bike (Airborne Spectre Sport) shipped in because they did not have it in stock and I was going to put it on the pay and play plan. Unfortunately they did not offer the pay and play plan on special ordered bikes. --The second sales guy I had to deal with, who informed the first guy of the policy change, was surely and unhelpful. He did not seem happy to special order my bike. --I went ahead and paid for the bike on a Friday. They said the bike should be in by the following Monday or at the latest Wednesday from the other store in San Antonio. I called Wednesday when I hadnt heard from S&S and April (front counter lady) said the bike hadnt even been shipped from the other store. She apologized and said it should be in on Friday. Called Friday and the same story, it hadnt been shipped! The store manager of my local store called the SA store and had the bike overnighted to get to my store on Saturday. Took them a week to get it shipped from San Antonio to Houston. --I was told the bike was all ready to go on the phone, but when I arrived I had to wait about 30 minutes for a tech to find it and look it over. --The bike itself was a bit banged up, the sticker on the front fork was gouged about an inch, the black handlebar had a silver mark on it, and the seat post was worn. I figured since it was a mountain bike it would get beaten up worse than that, and I was ready to get out of there after standing around waiting for it to be finished so I thanked April at the register and left. --On the first ride the derailleur hangar broke. The ride consisted of mostly pavement and some flat trails around the neighborhood detention pond. I called in and spoke to Nick, the bike manager. I was expecting the part to be fully warrantied because of the immediate failure and the fact that the sales guy said there was a drivetrain warranty from Sun and Ski. Unfortunately the sales guy mislead both me and the two people who were with me that Sun and Ski would warranty the drivetrain parts and adjustment should something like my experience happen. When I spoke to Nick about this he first said that the derailleur hangar was made of soft metal and was supposed to break (?), then said that Sun and Ski only warranties the adjustments and I probably would have to pay for the parts because I did not buy their extrended warranty plan. I can honestly say that I can agree with Sun and Ski not warrantying the bikes parts, just the labor, but having the sales guy not only confuse myself, but two other people as well into thinking that S&S did warranty the drivetrain parts at no extra charge - thats misleading the customer. --While Nick (the bike manager) was helpful in answering some of my questions, he did not make me feel like I was being taken care of on the phone. When I explained that it was a 45 minute drive one way to get to his store and that I wanted to be more certain about getting the manufacturer to warranty the parts since the first ride was very light, he said that was how long it took him to get to work. So? He drives 45 minutes to make money, and was going to have to drive 45 minutes to spend money. No reason he should have said that other than to belittle my situation. In the end Nick did not make me feel confident that he would be able to get the manufacturer to warranty the parts so I thanked him and ended the call.

I had some extra cash this past winter and thought it a good idea to find a north face windstopper jacket. I came into the F.M. 1960 location. Of course the place is great. Lots of gear. Camping, bikes, snow sports and on and on. I went to the outerwear section and started trying on the jacket that interested me. Once I found one I liked the only drawback was it was a little small. So instead of getting assisted by the commission based staff(who were working a bigger sales apparently), I went on a hunt of my own. Size large?? Nope...cannot find one. Hey, they check their other stores, right? Why yes they can! I asked an associate first if he had any more larges and he goes on a half-hearted search and starts walking away as he says, "sorry, we do not have any". So I throw back, "hey can you check another location?". The guy actually huffs and agrees reluctantly. Are you kidding me? So because I am not buying a $2500 road bike or a snowboard you are going to pitch a mini fit???? He hops on the phone and tries a store. They dont have it. So he heads to the back to work another sale! Soooo...lemme guess...because you have your greedy eyes on selling that Burton snowboard over there the guy that wants the North Face jacket and is ready to buy it is all out of luck you say? Unfortunately yes. Even the manager was more interested in chit chatting with the cashier of the opposite sex. Come on guys!!! I know you hate helping me when there is the chance you will not make a commission off it...but at least fake that you care about your customers. I went 2 miles down the road to REI. Same jacket, right size, friendly attentive staff. Sorry Sun and Ski...there are reasons you went bankrupt as much as you have. Economic times, products placed out of proper market(yes, we are in Texas people), and staff that just dont get it.

Awesome job! Bought a bike last March and purchased the 3yr protection plan that was recommended. Weather being bad this yr, a lot of trials I ride were torn up. Had a bad accident and messed up my bike. This plan covered the damage and these folks Fixed it in a few days (had to order a part) and all was free! Just a handshake is all it cost me. Very friendly people and knowledgeable. Only suggestions I have is to try to do a light suggestive selling. I had forgot I needed grips and was a ways down the road when I realized it. Would have definitely purchased some there as they were badly needed. But I cant take away from the great service I received. Ty!!!

Great customer service from the bike shop! Gabe from the bike shop fit me for the bike I recently purchased from Sun & Ski at Memorial City Mall. He is very knowledgeable and helpful. My husband was also fit to his bike for the first time as well. A proper fitting made an unbelievable difference. They even invited us to their weekly Sunday bike rides, which we plan to attend after building up a little endurance.
