I stopped here for what turned out to be an average Iced Coffee for $6 with a tip. There was only one person ahead of me but the tattoo clad barista took about 10 minutes to talk with the customer before me so not only was the price unreasonable but so was the wait. The cashier was nice enough. I may have returned at a later date for the ambiance and quick WiFi but today I was put off permanently. While I was out and about downtown, I decided to stop for a moment to remove a granola bar from my bag and eat it. I happened to be passing this shop at that moment so I stopped to sit at one of their patio tables. After a few moments, an employee with obnoxiously bleached hair and dark roots came out and began to talk on the phone nearby (possibly pretending). She repeatedly murmured, "Please leave that table free for customers." Well great job, you just lost a customer. Sometimes a few extra bucks can be worth it for the trade off of a welcoming environment and some good music playlists in the cafe, however, this is not the case with West Oak. I can go to Jupiter House or Starbucks and receive a cup of coffee for half the price, in a fraction of the time and not be harassed by a busy body if I decide to visit without making a purchase.

I dont know what I like most about West Oak. The environment, the location, the staff, or the drinks. West Oak, you have literally saved my day so many times. You wake me up, relieve my stress, dry my tears, and hug me from the inside out. You have become my absolute favorite place to buy caffeinated beverages, and are the one and only place I can justify spending around $5 for a coffee. Id willingly pay more, 100% worth it. But please dont raise your prices, cause Im on a college budget! Looking forward to, some day, venturing away from my usual mocha to-go to see what other wonderfully fabulous concoctions you have to offer.

Great atmosphere. Good service. Food is trying to hard to be pretentious, and is a bit pricey. I am not trying to say that this place is bad, but you are paying for the atmosphere which is like a low key bar. I may come back and give it a second chance... but Im not convinced after my first visit. They have a little over a dozen craft beers on tap, which are available from the time they open at 7:30 am. Their Baristas seem to be very knowledgeable. I already addressed the food. And dont forget to bus your own table after paying extra for the pleasant atmosphere.

Im from Houston, and I come to Denton every so often to visit a friend who attends UNT. Of the 3 times Ive visited, I always come here. Im always looking for the best coffee shop in Houston and Austin and by far the presentation of West Oaks is the best. Its a got a quiet, jazzy, classic vibe and the amount of effort they put into the coffee is awesome. It reminds me of Tout Suite in Houston, only better, and quieter which is nice. If I lived in Denton, id come here all the time for sure. The cappuccino was excellent.

They regularly update the menu for the season. I enjoy the espresso & tonic drinks they come up with. You cant go wrong with the chocolate milk cold-brew, either.The pies are delicious, as is the affogato, or shot of espresso over a scoop of ice cream. My father-in-law raves about the kombucha every time hes in town, and while West Oak is limited in the draft beer selection, it is all high quality. The interior is decorated in reclaimed materials and the staff is friendly. West Oak is my go-to coffee shop.

Highly enjoyable. Cool interior, plenty of room, and a great location. I enjoyed the "Breakfast Toast" (cant go wrong with jalapeño cheddar bread). The Chocolate Cold Brew (mixture of fresh chocolate milk and their coffee) was delicious (not too sweet), but the coffee on its own was even better. Mixing it with the milk (which itself must be amazing) for the cold brew seemed to "cheapen" or mask each beverages individual flavor. A bit pricey, but great weekend treat!

Great new shop in town! Best chai latte Ive had in Denton. Great food, especially the desserts, I recomended the coconut pie! Did I mention beer on tap?? staff are very friendly and are excited to be there. Only bad thing is the seating around lunch time, but that seems to be an issue with all the shops on the square. to sum it up great coffee, great food, great desserts and a great atmosphere created by the staff. All around great place.

Love their drinks! They always talk to you with such focus and intention, which is how they make each drink. They take their time in giving you the best of whatever you may order. I may only be in there for a few minutes, but I always leave feeling so appreciated for coming in. Even when its busy they dont rush. Their toast is pretty awesome. Thanks West Oak team for loving your jobs enough to exude it in your hard work.

People are friendly and the atmosphere is cool. However... wifi is slooow and i paid $3 for a medium cup of weak, somewhat-sour coffee. Refills are another dollar. Leave a tip (I always do) and its $5 for a very average cup of coffee. Im not a huge fan of the dark empire (starbucks) because I prefer local businesses, but starbucks coffee is significantly better, less expensive, and gives free refills.

Not a fan...stopped in yesterday morning for the first time. While the guy behind the counter saw me walk in and stand in front of him, he didnt see the need to acknowledge me in any way....apparently I was standing in the wrong spot for acknowledgement. A sign that says "order here" might be a nice addition for new customers to understand the rules!

Best Jasmine latte in the spring and yam spice in the fall. They make their own syrups in house. Best espresso brownies!! Great atmosphere and the best baristas in Denton! Always friendly, and hey, the coffee is excellent too. The cold brew is also great, and they have chocolate milk on tap too that you can mix with it to make a chocolate cold brew.

Excellent coffee, both espresso drinks and pourover coffee. They roast their own, and theyre damn good at it. Staff is trained, knowledgeable, and packed with coffee lovers who are happy to make recommendations. Lots of room for kicking back and relaxing or studying with a group. Best of all, theyre open late!

I like to come here, they got the best coffee ever! COLD BREW!!!! I dont go to Starbucks anymore after I found this place and staffs here are so sweet, great service! Heres the place where I can get energy every time I go there. Spending $5 for a cup of coffee can get you happiness

A constant flow of creative, delicious coffee based drinks. An incredible atmosphere that is warm, inviting and communal. A staff that makes you feel at home immediately upon entering. An owner that cares about his community. What more can you ask? West Oak is the place to be.

Great atmosphere and really friendly staff. I wish more coffee houses like this existed instead of Starbucks. The yam spiced latte that I tried was good. Never heard of that flavor before but they only had yam spice or vanilla. So, beware if youre looking for caramel flavoring.
