This place is a scam. The only reason it even gets one star is because its clean. The kennels are small unless you pay an arm and a leg for the larger ones. They only go outside to go potty, so if you didnt pay for daycare or a room with a patio, theyre only outside for maybe 10 minutes (at most) a day. They charge extra for everything! Want a picture of your dog? Extra. Playtime (for only 15 min)? Extra. During my tour this one girl turned to another and said there was a lady on the phone who wanted to check on her dog and the girl answered it with leaving and was like "Yeah, your dog is doing fine." She didnt actually leave to check the dog she just like picked up the phone and told the lady what she wanted to hear and the got back to chatting with her co worker. As we were leaving, another a staff member was bring out a dog for checkout, and sprayed it with a bottle by the door, and I asked the girl who was giving me the tour what that was, and she said it was like dog perfume. So they like spray the stink off your dog to make it seem like things were cleaner than it was. Super shady. After asking around I finally talked to someone who boarded there and they said they were overcharged and when trying to settle the matter the girls would go back and forth to the desk and the owners office to try and fix it, like the owner was too cowardly to come out and resolve it face to face. She finally came out when the lady demanded to speak to her and she still didnt get it fixed and was over charged. Based on my experience and that story I will keep my babies far from here. Honestly just hire a pet sitter. Your dogs dont need the stress and fraud of this place.

I stopped by on Saturday to take a tour of the facilities with my two pugs. My husband and I are new to Corpus and are taking a week long vacation. I had previously worked at a vet and boarding facility so I know what to look for in boarding my pets. My first impression was the front looks over done with the building and landscaping. My dogs dont care about that and I know its going to bring up the price. Its basically for the owners. I stopped at this place in particular because I had read online that they had free play (they allow your dog to play off-leash with other dogs). When they showed me the options I was very disappointed. It was a glorified shelter look that smelled like urine. The prices were the highest Ive seen and the dogs only go out for potty breaks. Let me tell you that this is not the environment you want for your dogs. They get very stressed in those kennels because all the dogs bark and they cannot see each other. They get no one-on-one attention (oh, unless you pay extra). And the time spent going outside to potty is a overly excited and stressful on most dogs. Ive seen dogs develop ulcers or just plain not eat when they stay at a place like this. I asked the girl 3 times if my dogs could attend the free play since they would be boarding a week and after hearing no, she finally said they could probably do it for an EXTRA charge. Are you kidding me?? Those people dont care about your pet but only see them as a dollar sign. I toured Brunos Bath House next and it was perfect. Thats what I would recommend!

I cannot sing the praises of Barkaritaville loudly enough! I have used their doggie daycare, boarding, and grooming facilities, so I can speak to all of them. The most important thing I can stress is that you get what you pay for--which is superior quality treatment and the assurance that your dog will be returned to you in better condition than you dropped it off in. They literally have insurance to ensure that. They also ensure that every dog is up-to-date on all vaccines. Consequently, it aint cheap, but worth every penny. The grooming is magnificent. It feels wonderful to know that if you board your dog there they will be well-cared for and safe. I primarily use their doggie daycare, which is a Godsend. I love knowing that my little one is having a blast and being pampered by the amazing staff. They are monitored the whole time and even have "play groups" which are dogs with similar size and temperament who get along well. Finally, I have to say that the staff is incredible. They are dog people, so clearly they are amazing. The staff are all so kind and learn you and your pets name from day one (or two if its busy). Highly, highly recommended!

I used the boarding aspect of this facility. Have to admit, I was nervous about leaving my 16 week old pup there. I asked for a going out bath for her when I picked her up. (Her stay was a week long...) I picked her up earlier than expected so they didnt have time to bathe her. (Which was fine with me - I wanted to pick her up & get her home...) I was really shocked at the pungent smell on her coat when we loaded up in my truck. I dont know what happened that week of her stay. She was clean when I dropped her off, but not so much when I picked her up... :( Otherwise - the staff was nice - adored her. I just cant figure out why she smelled like fecies & urine the way she did. (Needless to say - I bathed her when I got her home.)

Expensive. And my dog stinks of pee and has pee all over her feet and belly. And she is starving hungry even though i left a big bag of food for her (and none was returned). And when we checked out i was charged someone elses bill and had to wait around while corrections were made. And we were forced to get a new vaccination for her even though she still had 3 minths to go on her previous vaccination. The veterinarian said it was completely unnecessary... and even after getting the unnecessary shots we were forced to sign a waiver making the vaccination a complete waste of time and money. We wont be back and i will tell my friends to go elsewhere.

Couldnt be happier with this facility, I have two golden retrievers that require a lot of attention grooming-wise and Barkaritaville delivers every time. Not only for grooming, but for boarding as well. They offer suites and cabanas for your pet as well as an alacarte menu for add-ons if you so choose. Are they the cheapest in town? No. Do I care? No. I want my girls with someone who knows what theyre doing and can provide the services that I want/need for my dogs. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I pay a little more to make sure my girls are in good hands. Thankful that I found somewhere like Barkaritaville!

Is Barkaritaville a little more expensive compared to to other boarding facilities and grooming places in town? Probably. But you need to remember, you get what you pay for. And Barkaritaville is worth every penny. The staff love the dogs and they are all about customer service. Everyone knows my dogs by name and they love them. My dogs get so excited when we pull up in the parking lot. They have a blast. If you want to save money, go ahead and take your dogs to a cheaper facility. But just know that they wont be treated nearly as well as they would be at Barkaritaville.
