I took my beautiful Shih Tzu to PetSmarts grooming the first time and will never go back. We spent 20 minutes discussing what we wanted done, which was nothing more than to bathe, comb, trim her chin area and her eyes. They kept talking about how much we wanted cut off her hair. None! We finally communicated that to them. Then they wanted to know how much off the tail and the ears. Seriously, how cut happy are these people. They have their own agenda and wont listen to their clients. I finally agreed to let them "trim" her ears. Obviously my "trim" and theirs were completely different. They not only cut her ears up to her eyes (she has long hair everywhere by the way, so this looks completely ridiculous), but they also cut all around her cheek area and her neck, so that her whole face looks like a big square and completely tiny compared to the rest of her long haired body. I never never told them to cut her neck or her cheek area whatsoever! And as if that wasnt bad enough, the cutting was uneven and completely chopping looking. I am horrified and my puppy looks hidious! This place has no experience, no quality and are very expensive! As mortified as I am at how my precious little puppy looks right now and realizing how long it will take for this butcher job to grow back, there is one saving grace to PetSmart, but it isnt their groomers. I have been taking my puppy to their training classes and have learned so much and the trainer is excellent.

I brought my Boston Terrier here to be groomed. They did a great job on her grooming, but she really doesnt have much hair to begin with. They trimmed her nails and brushed her teeth too so she was looking sharp. The only thing I dont like is that I made an appointment for her at 12:30, checked in early and was told to come back for her in two to three hours! What? I had an appointment. I wasnt a walk in. And shes a tiny dog with very little hair. Why keep her so long? If she were a nervous dog or had behavioral issues, I would have really had a problem with it. But, the main point of this visit was to have her anal glands expressed and I sure wasnt going to do that at home by myself. So, I let her hang out there. She didnt mind and I just went home and did laundry until they called me. Ill take her back again if she needs the anal gland thing, but I can just as easily give her a bath and trim her nails at home.

I groom my pups myself so I CANNOT comment on that but I love the dog treats collection here as well as the groom tool selection. I wish they had mint flavored toothpaste instead of vanilla/ginger but it works. This is about the only place you can really buy pet supplies that are decent quality. However they are over priced at times, checking around is always a good habit sometimes they have toys way over priced and you can get the same toy (or similar) at Lewis Drug for cheaper. Still I find the staff quite pleasent for the most part. The trainer Jesse is absolutely amazing he helped train our first big dog and he was very informative and professional. Its nice you can tell he likes what he does!

PetSmart, or "Old PetSmart" as it is known since the opening of a new PetSmart on the other side of town, has been pretty much the one and only standby for pet owners. There are other pet stores in town, but PetSmart is so ridiculously easy to find that it tends to be the default for a lot of us. Is it good? Really, that depends on what youre searching for. Basic pet equipment is available and most of the major brands are stocked so if thats what you want, this is the place for it. If you want to buy something living, especially if that living thing is intended to be a pet, you might try a smaller pet store thats more likely to tend to the needs of their stock.

Weve used the grooming for the last year, in he beginning had great results. December had to use a different groomer and had terrible results so was careful to book with our regular groomer until this last time. I felt really bad for her she seemed way to busy and overbooked, such a nice gal. Our dog was there for almost 5 hours and had a terrible choppy haircut and than developed shaver burns scattered throughout her body. I contacted the manager, Scott and he basically thanked me for calling and said I should find someone else for our grooming needs. Just be careful when booking. Its really to bad because I really love the store.

Absolutely no one on the floor to assist. I wandered around and found the batteries for our dog collar behind a lock and key. So I waited in the checkout line for assistance only to find that the same batteries are by the cash register. Note to Management - You wont have to pay for help if you dont have any customers. I will now be going to Petco.

TERRIBLE customer service.. Was there to buy fish and they got my fish and Before he was done I had one question about some food, he looked at me and said he was going to help this other man fist. the other man wanted 100 crickets... He helped him before he would finish my question... Really?!?!?! I walked out and WILL NOT go back!!!

Rude, disinterested and unapproachable employees are whom work here, if not receiving any help or courtesy is your cup of tea then by all means spend your money here, I however will be purchasing my Blue products and all pharmaceutical supplies some place else, where the money I spend will be acknowledged and appreciated.

The PetSmart store in Sioux Falls, SD, is wonderful! The manager contacted me after I left my wallet in the store. He emailed me as I lived hundreds of miles away and I was able to retrieve my wallet. I am a grateful and Loyal Customer. From now on I will give them my exclusive business.

but not the best fish, there fish die fast, and cost more than they should, i have 8 fish tanks that are huge, and i shop at all the petstores in sioux falls and petsmart is number 2 on my list. i love their supplies but not the fish mini critters has better fish

Off Dogs

Its a pet store, some of these people seem horrified that their pets haircut was not perfect... Its just a pet store, its just a dog. Go there for dog food, if you want show quality hair cuts for your dog stop torturing your dog instead. Smiley face.

I find that petsmart has much better items, and is a whole lot cheaper then petco. Their cages are clean and their animals are well taken care of. Also their employees are always able to help you out and answer questions you might have.

If you must buy fish from here, be careful. I received a seemingly healthy fish and within a week, my tank erupted in ich (ick). I have had my ups and downs with every department of Petsmart. This is just so upsetting.
