Here we go. Strike 1 I went to Mountain Motorsports in Conyers on Monday night (8-15) The "bike night" started at 7 pm. We got there a few minutes til 7 and walked in the showroom. As I was looking at a bike someone else tried to come in and they were told "we are closed". I asked and they said they closed at 7. WHY would ANYONE close their doors on a "bike night"? Thats insanity. I have been in sales most of my life and thats the dumbest thing I ever heard. You have people there (MM doesnt realize those are potential customers) and they are excited about bikes. Prime time to sell bikes and/or accessories. But nope they closed and locked the showroom. Strike 2 I saw a used bike I liked there so I went back again on Tuesday (8-16) The bike I liked was out front with the other used bikes. I sat on and looked at that bike for 15 minutes. No one asked if I needed help. I went inside and sat on other bikes. Still no one asked if I needed help. Finally it was 6:25 and I asked the receptionist to get me a salesman because I was interested in a used bike out front and wanted to hear it run. She said they were about to start pulling the bikes in and she would get me a salesman. I told her I would be out front with the bike. I waited TEN minutes and no one ever came out so I left. Strike 3 I dont know why. Maybe I really liked the bike. Maybe I am stupid. But I went back again today (8-17). The bike was out front and again I was all over it. I went inside and walked around. A salesman spoke to me but he was with someone else so I went out messed around some more and kept checking inside to see if that salesman was free. I was there for an hour looking around, sitting on the bench, and talking to a guy who pulled up on a Kawasaki. Finally the salesman was free so I walked over and told him I wanted to see the used Honda out front. He said OK and we started walking toward the door when I said I wanted to hear it run. He said they dont start the bikes unless you fill out paperwork to buy one. What the hell? I have been buying cars, bikes, and houses my whole life. I cant imagine saying to someone, "Oh the car is for sale but you cant hear it run". When he said that I just said no problem, thanked him for his time, and left. Why was it no problem? Because there are PLENTY of bikes for sale out there by people who actually want to sell a damn bike!! There are THREE other bike dealers within a mile of this store. Here is something for the owners to think on. I ride bikes. I ride a lot. I talk to bikers all the time. What do you think I will say about your dealership? It sure wont be "go there they will take care of you" Anyone who walks in your door in a potential customer. If not today, maybe next week or even next year. Or maybe, like me, they have a bike with a lot of miles and could buy something today. If it is really company policy that you cant start a bike for a potential customer that you have to start when you move it in and out of the building, you need to get ready for a going out of business sale. That tactic might work on some kid or newbie rider but anyone who has ridden wont go for that. How many bikes have you ever bought without hearing them run and checking them out first? I havent bought ONE bike in my life that way and I never will. Especially a nine year old Honda with 50,000 miles on it.

My son and I were in Atlanta for the weekend when we decided to go to Mountain Motorsports to look at their inventory with no real intention to purchase because we were two hours from home. They did have good inventory and we were approached by the sales person who after showing us the features of Yamaha motorcycles dirt bikes intrigued me with an advertised financing rate of 3.99%. After I told him that we might be interested purchasing two Yamaha dirt bikes was when the bait and switch became apparent. Dealing with them was just like being at a used car dealership first the salesman approached me with the four square sales pitch done by most car dealerships. Then the moment I told him we were interested in purchasing them if we could get adequate financing he immediately took the two dirt bikes off the floor, gas and oiled them as if we had already purchased them. Two hours later of waiting for the finance manager we were told even with $5000 down that we didnt qualify for a 3.99 interest rate because our credit score was not good enough - but it would actually be a 9% interest rate. So I asked what does it take to get 3.99% and finance manager told me higher than what I had or at least a credit score in the 700s. At this point we shouldve walked and discussed doing so but we had already been there three hours and really did want the bikes, nothing to do with the dealership just the value of Yamaha and I had planned on paying them off anyway once we sold our current dirt bikes ourselves. Once I got home I received a letter that explained my credit for the purchase was based on my 715 credit, at a minimum 30 points higher than the finance manager had told me it was. In addition my credit was hit 3 times in the process of financing with them - summation -they don’t have any intention of giving anyone the advertised interest rate (or anywhere in the middle) and your credit score will suffer for the experience.

Long story short ...I thought I was buying a used 4 wheeler back in September . Was told when I placed the 500.00 hold fee I did not have to have insurance. After I placed 1000.00 more two weeks later I was told it was a lease and I did need insurance. I sat at the dealer and open an insurance plan to cover the 4 wheeler. Right before I walked out with the 4 wheeler I was told it needed a new brake cable and signed a form stating I would be notified when it came in and there would not be a charge for this. I have called several times and it has not come in or we need to find it sorry is what I am being told. Now that I am looking at all the forms and fine print I did not realize that the mileage on the contract is wrong by several hundred miles and now that I have decided to return the 4 wheeler no one will give me a straight answer. I was told by Rick at the dealer that Mountain Motor sports does not take back surrendered items that I could get Moto lease to call him. I have an email from Moto lease to contact the dealer for a inspection to return. I have filled out all required forms through Moto lease to early terminate my lease. I am so glad I took lots of pictures including the mileage when I placed the deposit down and time stamped when and where I was because when you turn in an item you are charged for the mileage among other things. Customer service was friendly but not knowledgeable at all. I spent the better part of 6 hours at the dealer trying to get this 4 wheeler and the last 3 weeks trying to return it. I wish I would have followed my gut and walked away. This has been a nightmare that I pray will soon be over.
