The poor service given to me on Saturday was unbelievable. I try to shop at small locally owned because it helps support us all. Ok in April I bought a used/preowned Xbox one 3rd party controller. The next day I say the exact same one brand new in Walmart for less than a dollar cheaper, but cheaper non the less. To say the least, I was not happy, so I called Game Haven and spoke to a couple people a “manager” and an “owner” I explained my irritation, and was told “Game Haven has a low price guarantee but it was hard to keep up with prices, and also that Walmart does not give you a 90-day warranty (which is also printed on the bottom of every receipt), like we do” I clarified so if the controller malfunctions in the next 90 days you will replace it and was told “absolutely”. Ok so back to Saturday, walk in with receipt and controller that has a toggle switch that does not work properly, I tell the self-proclaimed manager “Brandy” I would like to exchange this please. She immediately becomes rude and argumentative saying I must have broken it, continuously wanting to argue. I requested she call the owner which she said she would do, and in doing so she left me and my boyfriend alone in the store front with the cash register keys on top of the register drawer, personally I believe the owner has bigger problems than he knows. She apparently was unable to reach the owner except by text, and reported he concurred that the meaning of warranty doesn’t actually mean anything. I beg to differ and TN Section 2-313 of the Uniform Commercial Code which covers express warranties does as well.

These people have THE BEST PRICES in the whole Knoxville area, I have done several comparisons too. Every time that I compared prices, Game Haven was always at least $5 cheaper for used games. They have always offered more for my trade-ins as well, typically about 15-25% more than both GameStop and Packards. I also noticed that in addition to lower prices, they warranty ALL USED items for 90 days, standard! That is 6x longer than GameStop and Packards 14 day warranty! I wouldnt post this comment based solely on 1 experience with the company (as a previous commentor has obviously done). The store is a little cluttered and it is obviously a small company, but they really focus on customer service. All of their employees are always friendly and genuinely helpful, unlike GameStops employees who only talk to you in an attempt to up-sale or push their membership card, and even then it isnt friendly. You can tell that they are required to try that up-sale, and that is the only reason they are making this half-hearted attempt at conversation or customer service. Finally, Game Haven is near the mall, but not inside the mall. This makes the whole experience MUCH faster and easier than searching for parking at the mall and then walking 1/4 mile to the store itself.

About two to three years ago, I along with many others was horribly dismayed to learn that Game Haven had closed its Kingston Pike location. I along with many other classic gamers were forced to be subjected to the horribly overinflated prices of another unnamed game store that may or may not be in both the local malls, or worse, GameStop. I heard about a year later that the east town location was still open, but I assumed it to be what youd expect for something in that part of town. Well one day about a year and a half to two years ago, I decided to give Game haven east a try. I have been more than pleased. They have been under new management for over two years now, and I can honestly say that they are the best video game store in Knoxville. New or used. They dont try to scam customers with $400 N64s and $800 SNES games, they have the best prices in town and are worth the drive for me. Guys. GAME HAVEN NEVER LEFT. And to top it off, this location still lets you test the games. Just like they did back when they were by toys r us. All the staff, especially the manager, are very knowledgeable and will give you honest reviews of any game you may pick up. They know their stuff. I certainly hope they can expand back to the level they were at before.

This is in response to the past reviews of this store. All of these reviews state what shape the store was in over 9 months ago or further back and I would have to agree. BUT In October 2013 The store came under new management and it has improved dramatically. This place use to be a pretty awful... there is no denying that. It was a train wreck with employees who did not care. All employees were replaced and the amount of products they have for sell and the quality of them have improved ten fold. The store is very clean and well kept now as well. The new manager is on top of things. Also, this place has the fairest prices for retro stuff no doubt...CM games wants $60 bucks for a sega genesis...thats a joke! Got mine for $20 at Game Haven! Game Haven is a great game store to come too...once again. Thank god. The old days are back ;)

This Is an excuse for a game store the only reason I didnt give them 0 stars is that I was required to give them at least 1. This desolate wasteland that they call a game store barely had anything on the racks. When I walk into a store I want my nipples to tingle from all the options laid before me. Here I barely had anything to even spark my interest. Then I asked the guy that worked there if he had any sports games this century and he said he had the new madden and nba 2K games someone had traded in. I perked up in delight. But then he told me it would be least a month before they can put them on the racks. Its bad enough they barely pay you enough money to feed a Kenyon for a game you trade in, but they leave them locked up like a criminal for a month? This will not do.

Avoid this train wreck of a store. They have NO new releases whatsoever. The employees are not helpful and will tell you to look at the shelves if you ask them if they have something. If you have any credit there then I would go ahead and use it. An employee named Josh told me that they are probably going to close very very soon due to the owner neglecting the store and customers. (Not paying the landlord, electricity bill, etc) I preordered bioshock infinite months in advance and was told that they would not be getting the game in. I was told that I could not get a refund but I could buy something else in the store... I wanted the game I preordered.. Save yourself the headache and pass up on this place and keep driving.

Luther Epperhart is a liar and the owner of a Packards Games store. Do not trust his review. Game Haven has always been a fantastic store. Sure, times got tough for a while, and yes, the store was a mess for a long time, but the people running this company never lost sight of the most important thing: their love for games. Thats what separates Game Haven from the jokers...along with better prices, better staff and better selection, of course! Game Haven will go out of its way to make sure the customer is satisfied. That has always been my experience. I grew up at this store. I worked at this store (many years ago), and I continue to come back time and time again because it is simply the best small game store there is.
