NEVER AGAIN WILL I SHOP HERE!!! I used to shop here, as far as I knew, It was a great store.. I recently bought a bunch of salt water supplies, and fish from here, and soon discovered how badly I had been mislead and frankly ripped off.. they sell "live" sand in a bag that is actually DEAD.. Until I was better educated, I had never made the connection that anything you seal up in a bag dies with in 24 hours, I was dumb enough to believe the manager when she said "oh no its actual live sand, we get our sand from the same place as mini critters", and thats where the similarities end.. they charge you 20$ a bag for dead sand... Go to Mini Critters they have actual live sand, in an actual container that regenerates it, and they are more then happy to show you and walk you through the process.. They sold me "eels" I later discovered they were engineer gobys, and my newest petco nightmare... I also recently purchased what petco called an algae eater, later discovered by google that it is an Algae Blenny, and was informed once again by the "not so knowledgeable" manager of fish and small critters, that I could go ahead and feed it brine and mysis shrimp to balance out its diet.. WRONG!! My fish starved to death with in 4 days of having it in my tank.. there was not enough algae growth and they were feeding it brine and mysis AT THE STORE.. when I confronted the staff with my newly discovered information, I was then informed that not only were they not going to replace my dead fish, but I wasnt eligible for a discount in the future should I ever choose to shop there again.. I was insulted by both the managers I spoke with, when I explained that I was concerned they were giving out misleading information, and I did not feel they were qualified to be giving "educated" advice when it leads to poor tank health, and close to 200$ worth of dead fish.. yup at 25$ a pop they are EXPENSIVE. The staff was RUDE, they had ZERO customer relation when it came to even the simple tasks of apologizing which I never received, and was told that it was probably my fault and I needed to check my water (which I had tested by them the day I bought my algae blenny, and was told it the quality was EXCELLENT) they refused to acknowledge that and told me I must be misinformed and should come in and do a complimentary check) thats interesting since they ALREADY do free water testing... I went through 2 "managers" repeating the same sentence over and over "we dont guarantee our salt water fish, its corporate policy" before I just called my bank, filed a fraud claim on the sale beings the product was NOT AS DESCRIBED, as I was sold an almost dead fish that died a few days later. got my money back and will NOT be returning to that store. GO TO MINI CRITTERS, The staff was EXTREMELY helpful to me, had to education to inform me properly of the fish I was purchasing, whether or not my ecosystem was compatible with them, and how I could improve my tank. I was also offered a discount on my newly purchased algae blenny because of my nightmare with petco.

Its hard to go here & see all animals/fish have either filthy disgusting cages like theyve not been cleaned in 2-3 days, but the food/water has & youll see dead fish floating or sunk or stuck to the air pipe...Theres also the issue of the animals should ALL be used to Human interaction & not just their parents birthing them & thats it. I dont understand for example why w/the birds their not being handled by Petco employees vs just being taught by their Parents whom give birth to them & theres 0 human interaction so when their held for the 1st time, its very traumatic for them & they hyperventilate & can even die from this. Same w/the rats/mice/hamsters/ferrets & guinea pigs. Luckily the snakes/turtles/lizards & fish are born independent from their Parents so this isnt an issue there, but handling is still needed so their well adjusted & theres no problems when the time comes for the animal to be placed.

Usually, when I get pet products, I go to Petco (most convenient for me.) I have had a few times where the crickets I purchased were dead by the time I got home - but upon returning, I have always received replacements. One time they even gave me the crickets for free because they didnt have the size I wanted. On another note: The girl that is usually working when i visit (usually late evening) - I believe her name is Kaylin or Kaitlin...anyway, she is always SO friendly, helpful and polite. If I had my own business I might just try to pull her away from Petco. Anyway, I thought I would post a review because she is always has same kind and even-temperament each visit. In a rude world, it is nice to see a consistently smiling face!

when I asked if my pet Guku was dead they were really rude to me and asked if they were getting pranked. I started working on my aquarium about 1 year ago. It was a tough beginning but things have worked out well. I want to say thanks to the staff at the Sioux Falls Petco for guiding me along with what products and equipment I have needed to make this my aquarium an enjoyable experience. Each time I came, they were very helpful, not just one person, but anyone of the staff that I talked to was a great help. I depend on them to help me moving in the right direction. Thanks Petco for all your help.

Never shopping here again. It should not take 20 minutes to check out when Im only buying 3 cans of cat food. They never have enough cashiers and the ones they do have dont possess the common sense to call more cashiers when they have too many people in line - it seems every time Ive come here in the past couple of months I spend a ridiculous amount of time waiting in line to buy just a couple items.

Every time I have been in this store I have always been greeted and treated very well. The products are a little over priced,in my opinion, for the most part. All the fish I have purchased from there have never had any problems! I usually ask for the most healthy looking ones, but I live 40 miles from Sioux Falls, and never have had a problem with any of the fish!

I get all of my dog food here and Ive never had a problem with the store keeping it in stock. The staff is friendly, but sometimes the store does seem understaffed. Ive waited in line for 15 minutes on more than one occasion. Their prices are great and the location is convenient.

under new management and it has helped out a lot- you can see the changes in customer service as well as store appearance. there are a few workers who are regularly there when i shop and they are always friendly and eager to help. i recommend the grooming department too!

we have had our dogs groomed at Petco several times and they have always looked amazing! I have recommended friends and they are equally impressed! We appreciate the excellent customer service and will continue bringing our dogs here!
