Gown Boutique was the last appointment on a full day of trying on dresses. I thought I had already found "the dress" at another store, but just wanted to look since I booked the appointment. Both of my parents had been shopping all day with me and decided to go home since we thought I had found the dress already. Then, I fell in love with my first dress at Gown Boutique! One of the first things out of my mouth to Jenna, the saleslady, was that I loved the dress, but I was not going to buy anything that day since my parents werent there. I was pressured and asked at least three times to "buy today and save 15%!" I found this to be extremely offensive after having made it clear how important my family is in this dress process! Because we felt so uncomfortable there, we hurried to finish and leave. I tried to get 2 other local bridal stores to order this dress because I had such apprehension about supporting this business! Since no one else could order it, I had no choice but to return. I made an appointment with my parents. We arrived and were brought back to the "alterations closet" to put on my dress. Jenna opened the curtain so that I could show my parents and just stood there- no platform, no big mirror, no veil, no moment alone with my parents until I asked her to leave me with my dad for a minute!! This couldnt have been further from the experiences I had in many other bridal stores in Charleston! Email contact, though timely, was quite brash! I couldnt wait to get my dress and get it out of there! When I went retrieve my dress, I made an appointment, as was required. I asked to try the dress on to make sure it was my dress that we were actually leaving with. I was told that the 2 employees were busy helping other "brides"- 1 other bride in the store! Thankfully, I had my sister there. We were taken again to the "alterations closet" where I was able to slip on my dress to ensure it was mine. Pretentious, unfriendly, and overall horrid experience

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Gown Boutique of Charleston! From the moment I walked into the store until my wedding day, I was treated with complete respect, kindness, and professionalism. I was personally greeted by Terri, the owner, who carefully went through everything I wanted out of a wedding dress to custom make the dress of my dreams. She immediately understood my vision and pulled several dresses that fit my style perfectly. She also pulled some dresses that she thought I might like. I ended up picking a custom made gown that Terri had suggested and though I would like. We were also able to design an absolutely adorable jacket that I wore for my ceremony that matched my dress perfectly! Liz, the seamstress, was also amazing! She was incredibly sweet and helped tailor a wedding dress that fit me like a glove! With her help, we designed a large bow for the back of my wedding dress that I wore at the reception. She painstakingly taught my mother through how to place the bow and bustle my dress at the reception. She recommended we take a video on our phone of how to do both, which really came in handy the day of the wedding. My entire wedding day, I received endless compliments on the style of my dress, but mostly on how it fit and how it was altered/tailored. My guests (and even strangers) complimented on how nicely the gown fit me! Perhaps the most amazing thing about Gown Boutique and the ladies that work there is their flexibility. I am a physician, have a very restricted schedule, and live in Florida. Because my dress had several custom made parts, I had several fittings. The ladies at Gown Boutique came in on their days off (even when the store was closed) and made several special arrangements for me so that I could have the dress of my dreams. I cant thank all the ladies at Gown Boutique enough, especially Terri and Liz, for everything they did to make my wedding dress experience the most amazing possible!

My experience with the Gown Boutique was AMAZING! I was so impressed with every step of the process! I went into about 4-5 different bridal shops when I began my dress search, and immediately the Gown Boutique struck me as the nicest and most well-run boutique of those that I visited in Charleston. I was immediately welcomed and they worked hard to find gowns that may work for me and my vision of what I wanted! They made suggestions and gave me some dresses that I wouldnt have picked up myself, and I ended up falling COMPLETELY in love with my gown the first day of looking! I didnt want to take the gown off and knew right then that it was the one! I bought my gown almost a year and a half in advance, and never had a single issue. They were very responsive anytime I wanted to come try it on, and were super helpful every step of the way! The tailor who did all of my alterations along the way was AMAZING and my dress literally fit like a GLOVE on the day of the wedding. She was willing to work with me on whatever I wanted, and did AMAZING work! All of the girls working at the shop were so sweet and lovely to work with!! I cant say enough about them, and especially about the alterations they did! I was amazing with what she was able to do for me, and my dress couldnt have been more perfect! They all clearly know what theyre doing, and have experience in the bridal industry that shows in every step of the process! My dress was beautifully pressed and ready for my wedding day and they helped us get it into the car just perfectly so it would be perfect for my wedding day! Love, love, love!! Would recommend them SO highly and they have such a range of dresses and accessories available! My dress was affordable, but I knew I got amazing quality from the Gown Boutique and couldnt have been happier with my choice!

"Experience in a box" is the best way I can describe the store. Like many bridal stores, appointments are required and refreshments are served to help brides feel appreciated and to create the idea that each customers business is truly important. But it all felt like a formality rather than genuine hospitality. The staff was friendly enough, but easily confused/unorganized and the tension between sales associates was obvious. I overheard staff members complain about large parties and it was just disheartening. I can understand why that would be annoying to accommodate but it shouldnt be discussed front of house around potential customers. Overall, the pace felt rushed and the rules ridiculously strict. I purchased my gown from this store with my mother. I brought my bridesmaids back to see the wedding dress and the sales associates enforced the rules by not allowing them to look at any of the dresses. We were advised to make an appointment to look at bridesmaid gowns. This was the truly disappointing part of my experience. My friends felt slighted and awkward as if we were taking precious time away from other guests. As a business woman, it seems appropriate to me that brides, particularly after making a substantial purchase, should be treated with more courtesy. I do not recommend shopping or purchasing from this store. On a positive note, I had a fabulous experience at Bridal House of Charleston and highly recommend their services. If my dress had been available there I certainly would have given them my business. The staff was lovely and gladly willing to assist with questions. They did not enforce strict rules and went above and beyond in customer service.
