While they have a large selection of supplies, that are decently priced, and they have a wide selection of fish, everything else in this store was terrible. The staff was rude. One girl was texting while helping us and when I asked to see a bird she refused to touch it because she said she doesn't like birds. She really told me to try to grab it out the cage. Also, the birds looked terrible! Being overpriced is one thing but every water dish had so much waste and was filthy. The cages werent very clean either and the birds were being fed seed! Fyi, seed is terrible and fattening, especially sunflower seeds which there was a lot of. The conures were stuffed in small parakeet cages, I felt so bad for them. They were very nervous and stressed. One of them, the nanday, is over 3 years because its colors are fully developed and it is still not tame. I actually asked how old the conures are and the girl did not know nor care to find out. This place has a large open cage that has bunnies and guinea pigs together. Yes, together. Terrible, terrible! Different species of animals can fight or transmit diseases to each other. On top of that, there was a sign that you can pet them! While thats great to the silly people that want to touch an animal just to pet it, theyre not considering the fact that the poor animals arent tamed enough because theyre at a pet store still. Theyre super stressed out and get harrassed by so many different people every day. I never write reviews but this place upset me so much, I wanted to share my terrible experience and hope it warns other people about it.

Do NOT get animals from this facility. Months ago I bought a beta fish from Oceans of Pets and instantly recognized they were being held in extraordinarily stressful conditions. They were extremely close to each other in tiny little bowls. Betas do not get along with others well and all of the aggression they felt resulted in stress and declining health. I purchased a fish and within a month he died with fin rot. Coincidence? I think not. Today I was in purchasing food for my rats when i saw a large adult rat alone in a tiny one level cage with WOOD BEDDING. Anyone with basic knowledge of rats knows they CANNOT be kept with wooden bedding. They can suffocate and die. I havent been able to think about anything else since i saw him. I know this place was trying to save money but an animals life is not worth you wanting to save a couple bucks. I am pleading you. Do NOT get animals from here. They deserve to be shut down.

This is a generous 3 because of the ability to return a pet. My girlfriend and I went in looking for an animal and what we found was precious. But and a big but, they need to be far more vigilant on looking after their mammals. I noticed signs of fungus growing on the Guinea pigs and Rabbits. Im not sure if they I now that wood shaving is a very bad bedding for rodents. A guinea pig had a giant gash in his thigh and was only noticed when I pointed it out and Im talking about puss coming out, he also had fungus around his eyes and ears. Be very cautious buying rodents here and double check for anything that doesnt look healthy, dont take "its just dry skin" as an answer.

Prices are rediculously high. The girl with the dark hair is rude. The owner is very nice and a pleasure to deal with. I brought in some fish to trade in, she only offered me half of what the owner did. After the owner made me a reasonable offer, she didnt even acclimate the fish, she just dumped them in a tank. They are only fish, yes, but the are living breathing creatures, and should be handled with more care. They sell 75 gallon aqeuon aquariums for $129.99 on sale, RI aquarium on North Main St in Providence sells them for $99. Everything in this store is about 20% higher than it should be.

AWESOME PLACE! I dont like to get my fish from chain pet stores because there always sick and the staff at petco or really untrained. Its sad. But this store was amazing. I got really healthy fish that are continuing to grow. I got a weather loach there who is healthy and interactive. She grows more and more each day. And I got some guppies from them who have grown as well and are starting to breed! Super healthy fish. Well cared and staff are helpful. There can also be really good deals at time in all pet departments! What more could you want. Love this place will go again!

Oceans of Pets is a beautiful store. The owner,his family and dedicated knowledgeable staff want customers to have an excellent shopping experience. The entire team will go above and beyond to meet customers needs.The store is well stocked with all kinds of supplies and live animals. The fish tanks are an hypnotic array of light and color. Its fun to just see the variety of items available for all your pet needs. If they do not stock an item, they will do their best to order what you are looking for. Come check it out..

The staff was only somewhat knowledgeable and pretty indifferent about helping me. They were pleasant enough though once I involved in conversation. They have a ton of fancy goldfish in stock, varieties I have never seen anywhere else in Rhode Island, BUT the quality ranged from good to fairly low. They have a huge long finned goldfish, just gorgeous, but its fins are tattered from poor water quality. A lot of the fish in the tanks had damaged or shredded fins either from disease or bad water.

the birds were packed in cages one of them had a bloody foot the birds were all really stressed they looked unhappy the place was really humid and dark when you walk in its nice but the farther you go the worse it becomes the bird cages were full of poop and there was no water personly i would buy a bird from there to take it out of there care. worst pet shop ever.

The owner was very helpful when I described my cats symptoms- itching and scratching at a wound on her head. He told me she was probably allergic to wheat, rice, corn, yeast or chicken and recommended the Wellness and Taste of the Wild food. She got better almost immediately. AND their prices for the food are cheaper than PetCo.

Great place! Very helpful and knowledgeable on all different animals. Every time i go in for my saltwater corals or fish they are right by my side to help me in anything i may need. One thing i can say is, its worth my 1 1/2 hour drive! NEED ANYTHING CALL OR GO VISIT OCEANS OF PETS!!!!! RATING: A++++++++++

Wide range of fish and animal accessories. They have many fish to choose from and supply food for all animals. I choose them over chain store anyday. Pretty good variety of lizards and birds , and rabbits also
