i have had several bad experiences with this place, i bought otos, mini suckerfish if you will, bought 4 over a course of two purchases and one exchange with dead fish( they were the only fish store in the area that had them at the time), i asked what they feed them to test them, they said normal flake food, otos do not eat normal flake food they will only eat algae and certain vegetables from your fridge, one did survive almost a year now and still going strong just went there today to check out the new location, not sure how long they have been there, its just down the road a bit, selling purple crinkle and cherry hedge both non-aquatic plants that will eventually die and rot in your tank, they are just out to make a buck not to service the public, also their were more dead and sick fish there than i have ever seen in a pet store i had never realized that there is another pet store down the street, fins fur and feather, something like that, not a whole lot of fish, no plants really, but the one in the tubes, not the best, anyway very clean space, great looking tanks, have not purchased from there, but if youre in chelmsford def check it out i am from methuen and usually go to seaworld in salem, nh, so i dont go to chelmsford much, but thats my warning for new england tropical pet(the sign says pet supplies by the way)

There were no other customers in the store and I couldnt even get 1 girl to ask if we needed any help. Got fish and had to ask questions before anything was explained and THEN, i dont feel like things were explained properly. Maybe the 2 girls working here were taught to be more of cashiers. If thats the case, they were on par but I feel the customer service was lacking. I didnt feel like we were greeted happily walking in the door. And being a first time fish buyer, cluelessly walking into a fish store, i was hoping to get some helpful advice along with friendly comforting smiles about my purchase but instead I left feeling like I had no clue what to do with the fish I just bought so I had to resort to google. Which isnt a huge deal, but it would have been nice to walk out with the info in hand on how to introduce fish to a tank.

I was there today, and got some fish and brine, the fish so far are good but I apparently paid $7.00 for 2 containers of mostly water and 70% dead brine shrimp. If I hadnt of needed them badly for something else to eat, I would have walked out. I get a better deal, quality and amount in just one serving of brine from Unique Aquaria. Had they been open I would have gone there instead, but heard a few decent things about NETP. I will not go there again though....

Very good store. They have a good amount of knowledge of fish and reptiles, as well as other animals. Their prices and selection, as well as store layout are magnificent. However, I have purchased fish from them and had them neglect to tell me the true size a fish will get to, or wether or not they do well in schools. If you do a little research before, their prices and selection will not dissapoint.

I went there to look at starting a saltwater tank. I repeatedly told the guy who was working that Im busy and have no time to make my own water and was looking to buy it. He told me his family story and I couldnt have cared less. Never ever going back I dont care if you have salt water fish to me the place is not clean what so ever and seriously overpriced

NE Tropical Pet is one of my favorite places to shop for aquarium supplies. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about fish and helpful. Hes never pushy and always seems to have time to answer our questions. Plus I prefer patronizing a local small business, rather than a large chain store! Much more personal & good for our local economy.

Bought a couple salt water fish as a gift for my parents and within 7 days all their fish were dead. The man over the phone blamed us and said that our tank wasnt properly taken care of. Im sorry, but The fish that were in the tank, he had for years! At least 10-12 years. They didnt even apologize, or give them some sort of store credit.

This pet shop owner works hard to take care of his customers. Its getting harder to find quality Mom and Pop pet shops in our area, this one is one of the last great places in the area to look for rarer tropical fish and more.

Was in this store to check out their fish selection. Of the six freshwater tanks I looked at four had dead or dying in them. One actually had a fish that was dying and being eaten alive.

I just went in to look around and courteously greeted and left alone to decide. I came back later to get a simple Betta fish and i was told everything i needed. they were very kind
