I live right next to this location and used to enjoy going in with my girlfriend to grab a quick cup of coffee or their great cold brew. But, right around the beginning of August 2017 it seems there was a change in staffing. Instead of the extremely welcoming and easy to talk to staff, there are now a set of cranky folks who always look desperately disappointed when all I order is a coffee or cold brew. I have a dairy intolerance, so I do not get to enjoy their donuts, but every damn time I go in and just order a coffee the older employees behind the counter just look absolutely crushed that all I ordered was a coffee. Do these people make commission on add-on donut sales? Its ridiculous. Not only that, but one of the women who work there said, upon my suggestion of coming out with a vegan donut, "I dont even know how theyd make a vegan donut," with a rude smirk. Because, you know, its not like Voodoo Donuts, Blue Star Donuts, and Does Donuts champion their vegan options or anything. BRING BACK THE ENJOYABLE PEOPLE WHO USED TO WORK THERE AND LEARN HOW TO MAKE VEGAN DONUTS, GUYS!

FROZEN DONUT ON A STICK. Youre welcome. <3 Now THATs what I call innovation. GOOD donuts, HONEST donuts, tasty FLUFFY artisan donuts. Made with love, according to time honoured tradition. You wont find throngs of tourists, drunk hipsters, Pepto bismol or people who think downtown Portland is edgy and exciting anywhere near these donuts. What you WILL find is a cute shop, classic, timeless donuts in an honest, non-gimmicky low key setting. The owner, Ian, knows his fluffy, not-over-sugared and fresh donuts. The apple fritters are handwoven and not overfried, so they dont sit like a (sugared) brick on your stomach and the maple bars dont make your teeth shoot out of your mouth from the sugar shock. Also, for an artisan/boutique shop, they are very affordable and absolutely reasonable. Did I mention their love for the donut art form is almost tangible?

Where Voodoo Donuts has focused on the novelty of the donut, Coco Donuts have focused on simply making a better donut. Their donuts are the traditional selection we all grew up with and love yet made with superior ingredients making them light and delicious. I live a good 30 minutes away from their cute little shop, but if you want to start your Saturday morning off right, it’s worth the commute. It should also be noted that for a boutique donut shop, their prices are really low. Love em

My uncle is the owner and the creater of COCO DONAUTS. And for thos3 negative people writing horrible reviews, you guys have no taste in traditional Portland donauts. Also, there are other locations (2735 NE Broadway St, Portland, OR 97232 and 814 SW 6th Ave, Portland, OR 97214) and he wakes up around 4:00 in the morning to make donauts for you people. Just saying the best donauts in town. s COCO DONAUTS!!!!☆★☆★☆

I know a few people who really love this place. I dont really get it. They have a relatively modest selection of average donuts that taste fine. I could say the same about Safeway. Actually, Safeways selection is generally better. I guess Im just not a Coco kinda guy. The hours arent all that great, though, either. Overall, the place is fine, and if youre needing a donut fix, you might stop in.

If you havent had a handcrafted doughnut then you need to try one from Coco Donuts. Granted a doughnut is just a doughnut to some, but for the foodies at heart, its definitely all about the joy of that first bite. It has me back for more. At least try it once and decide for yourself.

I had the Vietnamese coffee, which came with a complimentary donut hole -- a delightful surprise. At 3pm, though, all the donuts were already sold out, so dont wait too long! The coffee is Stumptown, a nice roast. The espresso was better than most other places Ive been to so far.

The people that serve you are very nice but they have a few issues with the place. As I sat down flies were all over the place and you could see junk piled up behind a curtain. They also managed to mess up my simple espresso, giving me the wrong size and the wrong drink.

Ive been going to Coco donuts since I worked out in Tigard; Id stop at the downtown location before going home in the morning after a graveyard shift. Always a great donut and they introduced me to my first lavender experience in cuisine. Best buttermilk bars ever.

Came in at 9 am, they virtually had no donuts. Really? A donut shop with no donuts? What few ones the did have looked days old and had flies on them. I have never been so disqusted in my life. And I work in a waste processing plant.

This is an awesome donut shop. I like fluffy donuts with the basic flavors. Blue Star is too fancy and Voodoo is just sugar with a marketing hype. Coco makes donuts that make you crave more without feeling sick afterwards.

Great little coffee shop, lots of natural light. Love to sit here and read. Donuts are great, but the croissants are my fave. Heard they might start offering savory options, which would make this place the utter best!

A wonderful change of pass from the spazzyness of Voodoo. A everybody knows your name type of shop. A great selection of donuts and some really tasty coffee. Its right off the MAX line too which is nice!

Friendly service, and amazing donuts. They have the best maple bar Ive ever had in my life. Very inexpensive, too. Skip overpriced, overhyped shops like voodoo and Krispy Kreme, and try this little store!

I have had trouble actually getting donuts at the downtown store if I go after noon, but there seems to be a little better supply at the uptown store. The coffee is also wonderful, as always with coco.

I think the thing that won me over about this place is that if you get a latte they include a donut hole and put it on top of your lid! Plus their donuts are super good and they melt in your mouth.

I just had an amazing donut from Coco! The braided look is pretty, the texture was tender and delicious, and the icing was flaky and not too sweet. Cheaper than Blue Star too...

Voodoo What? This place makes Voodoo look like stale Crispy Creme. I used to go here a few times a week and I miss it. They make good coffee too and the people are super nice.

A great little doughnit shop. The espresso is very good. Try the mochas and get a doughnut hole. I will be going back for coffee and a doughnut.

Excellent donuts. A great variety in PDX, different from the other popular places as these are like classic bakery donuts- done perfectly.
