Good Day
If you are African American prepare yourself to be accosted, harassed and followed around the store by security and employees because you are "shopping while black". I have never felt more UNWELCOMED and UNCOMFORTABLE in my whole life. It felt super agressive and pointedly at me. All I went there to do was buy hair gel, a pair of shoes ( the same ones I always buy from there) and tampons. I wasnt greeted when I walked through the door. An 40s something white male eyed me down with a venomous look as if was unapproving and irritated by me walking in the door. He greeted white patrons before and after I passed him with a smile. My first store run I forgot to buy tampons so I had to walk back to the Walmart begrudgingly, because Walmart has the best price for the brand I use and I wasnt yet that far away from the store. It felt like I had to trade my dignity for their cheap prices. So, while enroute back to the store as I passed through the parking lot, a group of a mix of security and staff wearinv yellow vesr stopped their conversation and the people in the group turned and eyed me down. It was so direct and akward. I went back in the store to buy the tampons and the same racist rude greeter signaled to another staff then I heard security on floor or something to that effect over the loud speaker. Then a staff who was stocking stopped that and followed me around. I felt like this is something they do to intimidate black patrons. All this drama for nothing. I knew what I wanted to get, had enough money on my debit card. I didnt steal anything noe did I do anything that even remotely looked like I was. It was the most odd experience. I felt extremely confused uncomfortable and like I wanted to cry. It felt horrible having them deem me and treat me as a criminal by proxy of me being black. The first time I was in the store I was in and out. I buy the same shoes, same price whenever the ones I have wear out. Then I picked up a few socks. Then some hair gel then checked out. NOTHING SUSPICIOUS. I was just shopping like all the other nomblack patrons. I didnt have a big bag- I had a thin small bag/purse and my debit card on hand. These people should rename this place KKK Walmart. They do slave patrols when you try to shop. I will NEVER spend money here again. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a Walmart in any state. Oh, did I mention I look Muslim. Welcome to living in and shopping in Portland. This happens allll theee timeee. Some stores it has never happened and the people were fantastic. Other stores that stalk and harasse black customers wont get my business again. If you are African American you have been warned. Your money shouldnt support a bussiness that hates Black people and shows differential treatment to you. White people are just as capable of stealing. I buy the same items usually whatever Walmart I go to. The one on Lake Meadow has better selection and a WONDERFUL staff who make you feel valued and appreciated. I leave the Lake Meadow Walmart in a better mood than when I entered it and they have great prices. I higly RECOMMEND LAKE MEADOW WALMART. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE ON 82ND. IT IS JUST BAD, BAD, BAF.

Went to return a blender that was delivered to me late from the website... I ended up borrowing one from a friend for the get together I was having. I walked in the door past the greeter, Josie, who did not greet me though she saw me. I went to the customer service desk where an older woman was sorting carts and there was no one in line. I put the blender on the counter and the older woman said "Ill be right with you", while she proceeded to slowly sort carts, and walk things behind the counter to some bins. Seeing this, after some minutes of me standing there, a cashier on the main floor said "Ill help you in a moment", and she came over to do so when she was done ringing up her current customer. This cashier begins my return, and all seems to go smoothly until she says "I need the red return sticker", I told her I never got one, and she says "the woman at the door shouldve given you one". I walk over to the entrance where Josie was, no big deal, and say "I needed a red tag for an item I am returning?" in a polite, quizzical tone. She says with what I think was an attitude "well I need the item", I in a still polite tone I say "is there any way you can walk over there with me?" and with what I KNOW was an attitude she says "No", and just looks at me until I start walking back to customer service. I then go get the blender, go back and get my red tag, and then bring the blender back to customer service. At this point I ask for a manager. Someone points Benny(sp?) out to me, and I start to tell him what transpired. He says "well yea thats because the door person is not allowed to leave for security reasons..." I tell him if she wouldve told me that, that wouldve been fine and understandable (though she didnt appear to be securing anything as I had already walked right past her without any acknowledgement), but it was what she said and how she said it. To that he says "Ok, Ill speak with her." After my return was processed, I reluctantly finished some shopping, all the while observing whether or not Benny(sp?) truly was going to address the issue with Josie. Never once did I see him approach her, which is not to say that he didnt after I left, but other than the woman who actually processed my return, I got the feeling from ALL of the employee that I encountered that customer service was not at all a priority of theirs. They made me feel like I was inconveniencing them, or that they were on some weird power trip. Will not patron this location again, and hope this is not a corporation wide trend.

I seriously hate this Walmart. I used to leave in Gresham and just moved to this area and this is my local Walmart and oh my gosh! The fist time my husband and I went in we both right away didnt like it. 1. Because its a messy, thing on the floor ext.. 2. Some veggies were going bad. 3. Everytime I go they have 1 or 2 cashiers, i usually go around 8pm or 9pm, i understand its not rush hour but COME ON! that is a busy store, GET IT TOGETHER! BUT ANYWAY. Yesterday was the last straw! I went in with my daughter at around 8pm Well I got my stuff and when I went to cash out some older man was available (he was like 49 or early 50st) he had no customer service, no smile, no greeting, a simple HI would of done it. So he started scanning my stuff and instead of packing it as every cashier dose, he just started stacking it all together, so I started putting my things in bags and I WAS TAKING MY TIME! There was no one behind me and I’m sure he was supposed to be doing it because I had never had to bag my things in any Walmart, EVER. A guy comes behind me with his stuff and the old man start scanning the guys stuff and starts staking it on my stuff. I got upset cause I had to be checking for my stuff, and had to make sure i wouldnt get the guys stuff, so told the cashier “aren’t you suppose to be doing this?” he pretended he didn’t hear me, so I repeated myself and added that he should smile too. I left kind of upset of my experience! I will not be going to that walmart EVER AGAIN! I will drive to Safe way instade.
