Not sure where these “good service” reviews are coming from! We had an AWFUL experience at Mario’s….it was as if we were invisible. All the salespeople were chatting among themselves and did not approach us. One fellow in the menswear department watched me look at a jacket, then go upstairs to find my wife, bring her back down and show HER the jacket, and he didn’t speak or move an inch. I was disgusted. It’s that archaic, 80’s brand of snotty, non-customer service (as illustrated in Pretty Woman) that makes me feel queasy. I work in corporate America and sometimes I shop in casual clothes. Doesn’t mean I can’t afford Brioni or Kiton, Mario’s! To heck with them, we said, and went over to Nordstrom, where we found a lot of fabulous clothes, and more importantly, great service, which resulted in our spending a few thousand bucks which we could just have easily spent at Mario’s had anyone there even greeted us or lifted their snobby heads. Forget it.

Pro: The building is beautiful, and Marios seems to have a good reputation in Portland, OR. Customer service upstairs was pretty good. Harmony from Marios was accommodating and professional. Con: I was very disappointed that the buying is for a very specific demographic; wealthy, and likely the 45 and up that never leave Portland (Or if they do, they stay in their hotel). A shame for us that live in the 25-35 age range that seek high quality clothing, and more curation than just your safe Vince-type brands. I was also disappointed to see 7 of All Mankind, kind of cheesy, no? The only coat offerings were wide puffer coats; hardly flattering for someone that appreciates style. If I come again, I hope the buyers/owner takes a little advice and evolves a bit.

Marios is a wonderful place to be (even when just poking around). The staff is amazingly friendly and extremely knowledgeable in what they do. Rarely do I ever come in, except for their sale. Their sales are pretty awesome towards the tail end when most of their items are 70% off. You can score a pair of Prada pumps or a designer dress at a reasonable price! The service here is much more sincere and friendly than at any Nordstroms or department store in Portland, hands down.

The only place in town for chic menswear, unusual accessories, and interesting desktop tchotchkes. Buying/fashion direction skews mature, so theres not much in the way of street style or trends of the moment. Very friendly and courteous staff - expect to be offered a glass of champagne.

The person who helped me when I shopped was very good at their job, offering to hold what I had picked out while I continued to shop, and offered refreshments. The prices were a bit ridiculous, but everything was brand name, so I could see why. Not bad.

Have shopped here from time-to-time over the past 40 years or so. Quality clothing at vey high prices. Very Snobbish help, especially if youre dressed casually during shopping. For "older" gentleman living in the fashion past. IMO.

Outstanding service, and excellent selection. Premier shopping in Portland is hard to find and this is one of the few.

Really expensive, upscale stuff that caters to the mainstream rich crowd. Nothing too fashion forward.
